********************** PLEASE NOTE Revision 1 of this Campaign has been released. See the following thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=847612#post847612 Revision 1 can be downloaded from: http://rapidshare.com/files/360312125/Dog_of_War_Campaign_Rev_1_0.zip *************************************** <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><> Dogs of War Campaign <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><> This our entry into the Official ED Campaign Creation Contest. Below is a brief outline of the campaign. A more detailed description with mission briefings is contained in the attached Dogs Of War Campaign Document.PDF file at the end of this message. Also contained in that file is the campaign flow as the missions are not yet linked. Also, we would like to point out a feature of the Dogs of War Campaign that is not clearly evident. Several missions in the Dogs of War campaign do contain random elements. These elements ranges from where the initial and reserve units spawn, whether air units show up to support the enemy ground troops, or where the down pilot is located. Missions that have an element of randomness are mission 1 – 7, 10, 12 (partially implemented), and 15. This was done to add some replay value to the campaign and the missions themselves. This feature is not readily apparent unless you replay the campaign or replay the missions listed above. This does not include Mission 14A and 14B which are very similar with the exception that 14B has ships that need to be dealt with. The campaign can be download at http://rapidshare.com/files/328692157/Dogs_of_War_Campaign.zip Alternate locations for download can be found at (Thanks to ECV_Tordo and EtheralIN) http://www.filefront.com/15267913/Do..._Campaign.zip/ http://bluefire.dnsalias.com/~tats/f...r_Campaign.zip Please post your questions and comments on the Dos Of War Campaign here. Enjoy! :pilotfly: <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>><><><><><><><><><> Development Team AKA_Clutter AKA_Ramstein Topgun505 AKA_Goshawk <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Campaign Type - Multiplayer Coop Campaign Number of Players - 3 -5 players, some mission "doable" with 2 and easy with 4 or more. Mission length: 1 - 2 hours. System Specs System used to perform test. Win Vista Ultimate/Win 7, Intel E8600 Core Duo, EVGA GTX 216 SC, 8 Gigs Corsair DDR3 1600 RAM. Test were done with 3 – 6 pilots. Comments: Some missions have slots for up to 12 players, others only have slots for 8. Also, some missions have a secondary FARP either closer to the “front line” to facilitate re-spawn or rearming, while others have a secondary FARP further back incase primary gets overran. Some missions will require use of PVI-800 to enter NAV points. Most missions require landing and rearming. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><> Campaign Background In May 2008 the Indian Air Force issued a requisition proposal to purchase 22 attack helicopters to modernize and supplement their close support attack forces. Shortly thereafter this request was put on hold due to budget cuts. In November of the same year a coordinated Islamic terrorist attack in Mumbai, India’s largest city, killed 173 people and wounded at least 308. The initial speculation was the attacks originated from Pakistan. After less than 3 months of investigation Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik, in a televised news briefing, confirmed that parts of the attack had been planned in Pakistan and said that six people, including the alleged mastermind, were being held in connection with the attacks. Additional funding was immediately granted by India’s government to purchase additional air assets to improve border security and to seek and destroy militant elements along the border between Pakistan and India. Throughout 2009 U.S. forces increased their presence in both Afghanistan and Pakistan in an attempt to eliminate extremist forces at the same time India waged a similar war along their border. In Dec 2009 the American government offered military and economic incentives to India in order to improve their military and increase their effectiveness in combating terrorist forces along their border and (unofficially) into Pakistan itself. Part of this incentive package was an exchange of military technologies. India received, among other things, several UAV assets and thermal imaging devices for use for border patrols. In exchange the Indian Air Force loaned several KA-50 helicopters to US forces to expedite getting American trained pilots in the air. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Dogs_Of_War_Campign_Doc.zip

   I tried that before I posted and it didn't work. Given your message, I thought it might be the fact that I was flying Blue (US) and landing on the US carrier. So, I went and did a test case flying Russian KA-50 and landing on a Russian carrier. The procedure above worked like a charm. So, before replying to this post, I decided to try the US side again. And it WORKED like a charm!!! Not sure what the heck I did wrong the first time, but it does work!! Thanks much!

 As you can see, it it was purely accident although it does fit very well. The title came from the fact that I am in a squad called the AKA Wardogs. Also, I named the US units for the USMC 2nd Bat. 7th Marines whose nickname are the War Dogs. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_Battalion_7th_Marines ) Again, it was not on purpose, but it works! Thanks for pointing that out! -

ROFLMAO  Ah HA! You found it! You found the special place in mission 12 where there are many species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave grooving with a Pict! or is it the wall? :) Actually, I don't have a clue as nothing was done intentionally to include a reference to Pink Floyd. I was a HUGE Pink Floyd fan LONG before their "Dark Side of the Moon" album came out (Sort of dates me doesn't it :) ) Anyway, I'll go take a look and see what might have crept in via my subconscious. Salute! -
OK, I was less than clear. I know that you can land on a carrier, but can you refuel and rearm. If so, how does it work? Do you need to do anything special. Thanks!

All, I'm sorry for any trougle that you are having with downloading the Dogs of War Campaign from Rapidshare. :( This is the first time that I have uesed it, and I may not have things setup correctly. I do have it in a Collectors account and not a premium account. I don't know if that causes issues with downloading or not. Any help will be appreciated. :helpsmilie: Thanks, :pilotfly: -

I'll look and see if I can find a generic PDF "printer. Here it is in MS XPS format. I'm not sure if that wil help or not. Meantime, I'll continue to try and find a way to convert to PDF ===> PDF is now attached. Sorry I should have included that in the first place. Dogs_Of_War_XPS.zip Dogs_Of_War_Campign_Doc.pdf -
Does anyone know if it is possible to land on a carrier and then rearm and refuel? Thanks!

zdXu, I didn't develop the background story, Topgun did that. I think that he may have based on this event, or some other event. What we wanted was a somewhat plausible reason for the US Marines to be flying the KA-50 and not to directly pit US vs Ru. Yes we did us US and Ru units, but ti was not meant to be a US force versus a Russian force. I'll get in touch with Topgun later today and see if he based the background story on this specific event. Thanks for the question. -

zdXu, The only stupid question is the one not asked! The background for the campaign is fictional, at the moment, and hopefully remains so in the future. :) -

Hope to put mine up late tonight or tomorrow. I not sure it will meet expectations of "polished" but hopefully all will find it fun. I have the files in 5 different ZIP files, each less than 10 MB, for a total of 27 MB. Will this be a problem with loading to the site? Thanks. AKA_Clutter -

Waggs Thanks much for the extra time. Campaign preview (sure to be tweaked) Campaign Name - Dogs of War Campaign Type - Multiplayer Coop Campaign Number of Players - 3 -5 players, some mission "doable" with 2 and easy with 4 or more. All, I am having problems with DCS{Black Shark after doing a clean install of Win 7, reinstalling DCS:Black Shark, and re-activating. I am only having problems with the SINGLE player mode. The multiplayer mode works fine. What Happens – When I run the single player icon (H:\DCS\Blackshark\bin\stable\Launcher.exe –console) is that I get a white screen with a light orange/yellow “loading” message. After a bit, I get a rectangle in the upper right hand corner that states 1.01. After the loading screen goes away, I am left with the with screen and the version number in the upper right. I can hear the into music just fine, but I do not see the normal screen where you can chose options, editor, or fly a mission. When I launch the multiplayer icon, everything looks normal. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong, and how to correct. Thanks, AKA_Clutter

Carriers Take off points
AKA_Clutter replied to AKA_Clutter's topic in User Created Missions General
I was afarid of that. :( -
All, Is there any way to select a carrier (US or Ru) as the takeoff/landing point? Thanks,
-
In the announcement for the Campaign contest, Waggs post states the following: We will have a competition for both a single player campaigns and a multi-player campaigns (using multiplayer campaign functionality introduced in 1.0.1). Can anyone tell me how to get the campaign running in multi-player? Or is this only via manual mission loads by the host and/or the new Mission Start trigger? Thanks,
-
All, here are some of my questions as to how the campaign system works. Questions 1. Are the points as fixed as stated in the manual (<49, 50, >50)? 2. How do you move between missions in a stage? 3. With a five stage mission, can you set it up such that it is NOT a 5 successful mission campaign. 4. Can missions within a stage be set up so that three (or more) have an equal change of being chosen? Thanks,

1.0 Mission and V1.01 and Campaign Building
AKA_Clutter replied to AKA_Clutter's topic in User Created Missions General
Dragon, Thanks for the response. The only triggers I use are MissionStrat (to set random flags) and ONCE. I have a lot of triggers, but only use those two types. The mission starts and works to the point where I have most of the units initiated. At that point it locks up. The actions I use are pretty standard (Set Flag, Activate Group, Message & Delay). The only one that seems to have been changed was the Message & Delay. Those now show up as "Message". I also thought that it might be because I use Templates, but my templates are still in place. Thanks again
