  1. My guess is that you very likely will have problems with frame rates if they are all activated within the same aera. You may also have problems with the game locking up with that many units being activated at once. I have seen that issue and that was with about 10 to 11 groups with 5 units each. Hopefully that is just me! Good luck!
  2. Only because I did such a porr job explaing things the first time. Enjoy!
  3. Now as to that, I don't have a clue. :book: Some one much more knowledgeable than I with respect to how the game runs will have to answer that. I do know that I have seen cases where the airfield is not under attack and yet I can't get rearmed or refueled.
  4. Distiler, Sorry for the delayed answer. Yea, I didn't explain it verey well did I. :) What was intended was that as you move forward from one Primary mission flow (bolded missions) to the next Phase, there would be a 50% chance of going to one of the two un-bolded missions. For example, after successfully completing the introduction Mission (DOW_Mission_00 in Phase 0), you move forward to Phase 1. In moving forward to Phase 1, you should fly either Mission_01 or Mission_02, each with an equal probability of occurring. If you succeed with either mission then you Play Mission_03. I should have called the Bolded mission the bridging mission, as they are the bridge between phases. Also, if you play Mission_03 and get a stalemate/Draw then you should remain in the same Phase. As you are in the same Phase, you should play either Mission_01 or _02 each with an equal chance of occurring. The above is applicable to those missions that do not yet have scoring and linking logic (Mission 03 through Mission_15). Phase 00 and Missions 01 and 02 do have scoring and linking logic. For that, we have changed things a little from the above to add the a little more chance in the linking logic. What we did was add a chance that if you succeed at a mission, there is a chance that due to events not in your control, the overall mission was lost, and you have to go back a phase. Likewise, if you fail, there is a chance that you will still move forward. I’ve tred to depict that in the attached PDF. I hope that I explained thingss better this time. Let me know if this helps. :pilotfly: :joystick: Mission_Flow_Diagram.pdf
  5. :):) Glad you enjoyed the mission and got to see some of the random elements. Hopefully that will help make it have some replay value. And yes, some variations have more enemy units than others. As to why the Marines didn't land, nor did you get the message, I don't know. I'll take a look at the logic and see what may have occurred. With the random triggers, it is difficult to test everything. Thanks for the report!
  6. Distler and Mack, Glad the missions seem to be working fine and that you are enjoying them. :) And no, nothing was done wrong, you have found the weak point. :( Only the first four missions ( Missions 00, 00A, 01, and 02) have all the bells and whistles with respect to scoring logic, Mission success, stalemate, or failure messages. Also only these four are linked so that the automatically launch. From Mission 03 forward you will need to link them manually. The campaign flow is described in the PDF file. Now for some good news. (sort of) :) We are working on adding all the necessary logic to the other missions so that they will be linked as are the first ones. Unfortunately, this will take some time. The plan now is to try and release them in sets of three. :pilotfly: As you fly the missions, please post any feedback or questions. Again, thanks for playing the campaign! :joystick:
  7. Hummm, sounds like I need to check some thingsn with the logic. I am at work now and can't check things from here. The problem may be that I have the wrong value set for the SCORE GREATER THAN rule. Thanks for the feed back. :-)
  8. Distiler, Thanks for trying the campaign, and posting this question/observation. This one is a little picky as we found out in testing. you have to land at the correct FARP as shown by the way-point in ABRIS for the triggers to get 'Credit". There are four FARPS on the finger of land. The two nearest the carrier are NOT active. The two closet are active and have units at the FARPS. Alpha flight MUST land at the one closet to Anapa airfield, while Beta must land at the second closet to Anapa . I have tried to attache a screen shot from this mission showing where the helos should land. The way this mission works is not through normal triggers, but through the scoring system. It is set up to count the number of players that enter the game( In Alpha and Beta flights) up to eight. After that, each chopper that lands at the specified FARP then scores points (4 I think). Once all helicopters are recognized as having landed, the Score Greater than x is tripped and then the messages as to the campaign starts. May not have been the best way to do it but it works. Also, in building the missions logic templates were used to help cut down on the number of lines that had to be entered in each mission. IN this one the ONCE triggers for Mission_Failure_16, Mission_Stalemate_17, and Mission_Success_18 have blank rules. That is OK as they are not used in this mission. I would also mention that if you fly this in the single player mode, the next mission will not launch automatically, but you should get all the mission message. Please try again as described above, and let me know the results. :pilotfly: Thanks for trying the campaign.
  9. Jessi1 I should have stated that the linking of the campaign, where the next mission will load automatically only works if you fly it via the Multiplayer mode. The Action Trigger "LOAD(mission name)" only works from there, and not in the single player mode. However, the mission will tell you which mission you should load next. Given that you can still fly in off line in single player mode.
  10. Jessi1 - I haven't tried that so can't really say. It was designed more as multi-player with 4 - 6 players. You can always try. I know that the AI wingman would not trip any triggers. Also, some of the mission may not be "doable" with two Ka_50's. If you do try, please let me know how it works.
  11. All, We are glad to announce that Revision 1 of this Campaign has been released. Please see the following thread for more information http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=847612#post847612 Revision 1 can be downloaded from: http://rapidshare.com/files/360312125/Dog_of_War_Campaign_Rev_1_0.zip *************************************** Enjoy!!
  12. All, First the Dogs of War Campaign Development Team would like to thank all of you who downloaded both campaigns in the Eagle Dynamics Campaign Development contest. Also, thanks for the feedback and questions on the Dogs of War Campaign. We would also like to thank Eagle Dynamics for sponsoring the contest and the fantastic (and very generous) prizes.     We are also pleased to announce Revision 1 to the Dogs of War Campaign. :):) This update can be downloaded from http://rapidshare.com/files/360312125/Dog_of_War_Campaign_Rev_1_0.zip The zip file contains all the updated missions and a document describing the campaign background and missions. There are two versions of this PDF file, one is for duplex printing and the other is for printing on one side only. (Attached below) A descriptions of what has been incorporated into Revision 1 is described below, as well as an updated Campaign Background Description Good luck in the campaing. We hope that you enjoy. Please post any feedback as a response to this message. Development Team AKA_Clutter AKA_Ramstein Topgun505 AKA_Goshawk == == == == == == == == == == == == Update Campaign Background == == == == == == == == == == == == Campaign Background In May 2008 the Indian Air Force issued a requisition proposal to purchase 22 attack helicopters to modernize and supplement their close support attack forces. Shortly thereafter this request was put on hold due to budget cuts. In November of the same year a coordinated Islamic terrorist attack in Mumbai, India’s largest city, killed 173 people and wounded at least 308. The initial speculation was the attacks originated from Pakistan. After less than 3 months of investigation Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik, in a televised news briefing, confirmed that parts of the attack had been planned in Pakistan and said that six people, including the alleged mastermind, were being held in connection with the attacks. Additional funding was immediately granted by India’s government to purchase additional air assets to improve border security and to seek and destroy militant elements along the border between Pakistan and India. Throughout 2009 U.S. forces increased their presence in both Afghanistan and Pakistan in an attempt to eliminate extremist forces at the same time India waged a similar war along their border. In Dec 2009 the American government offered military and economic incentives to India in order to improve their military and increase their effectiveness in combating terrorist forces along their border and (unofficially) into Pakistan itself. Part of this incentive package was an exchange of military technologies. India received, among other things, several UAV assets and thermal imaging devices for use for border patrols. During the course of 2010, India's use of UAV drone attacks against militant targets within Pakistan escalated dramatically. With its new UAV fleet, India more freely engaged targets as they were discovered. Several of these raids were conducted with questionable intelligence and as a result lead to hundreds of innocent civilian casualties. The Pakistani government who had always publicly outraged against such drone attacks previously, but had never taken any action to oppose them, came under increasing pressure from its civilian population to put an end to these attacks. As the attacks continued and civilian casualties mounted, al-Qaeda began to win over public support within the country. By mid 2010, al-Qaeda had enough support from the civilian population and the Pakistani military that they were able to conduct a successful coup and depose the existing Pakistani government. U.N. leaders, terrified of the prospect of al-Qaeda now being in possession of a nuclear power sent in troops led primarily by the United States to free control of Pakistan and to ensure the security of its nuclear arsenal. India, realizing the gravity of the situation and recognizing the superior training of U.S. armed forces decide to allow them access to their KA-50 assets in order to both assist in combat operations and to help train the Indian Air Force in the use of their new attack helicopters. At this time, while a few scattered regions within Pakistan still oppose al-Qaeda occupation, the country for the most part is now entirely controlled by al-Qaeda and its military forces are being bolstered daily by extremists flowing in to the country from Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Iran, and other terrorist-backing nations. A state of war (although not yet officially declared) now exists between al-Qaeda-controlled Pakistan and the United States (and other U.N. nations). == == == == == == == == == == == == Revision 1 Changes 1) Updated Dogs of War Campaign Background Document (this document) to add maps for each mission. 2) Developed a better Overview map 3) Revised naming scheme from “Campaign_xx” to “DoW_Mission_xx” 4) Made editorial corrections to all mission briefings. 5) Added New Phase 0 a) New Into mission – Land on carrier and ingress to FARP west of Anapa airfield. b) New Mission 00A – See description below 6) Linked Missions 00, 0A, 01, 02, and 03 (Phases 0 & 1) 7) Corrected some errors in Missions 1-6, 12, and 15 associated with random generation elements. 8 ) Developed Introduction Mission - Campaign_0A a) Land on carrier to refuel and rearm. This is necessary to prevent multiple “Down Pilots” being simulated. 15) Corrections to DoW_Mission 7B Early Morning Raid - With Wingman a) Moved Flights to FARPs next to airfield. This was done to facilitate takeoff with wingmen. 16) Corrections to DoW_Mission 12 (Death Valley) a) Added a second convey on road. b) Revised timing of units spawning to close valley entrance c) Added additional units to protect against flying over the rim of the valley d) Added some units hidden in a branch valley to provide an obstacle to overcome. This led to two version; “Challenge” and “Easy”. The Challenge version has Shilka ZSU-23-4’s and Strela 9P3’s in the branch valley. The Easy version has BTR-80s instead. e) Revised Alpha 4 to start on ramp and skin and weapon load-out. f) Added additional logic and bunkers to improve the randomness of the mission. Number of potential bunker locations increased from 2 to 5. 17) Corrections to DoW_Mission 15 Mop Up a) Revised logic for downed pilots to correct error of all three down pilots being generated. In linking the missions, we decided to put a little bit of randomness into which mission was loaded. Specifically we included the possibility that your efforts might be overcome by events elsewhere. There is a possibility that if you were successful, events elsewhere in the theater of war results in the campaign moving forward staying in the same phase, or moving back one phase. The same is true for when the mission is a stalemate (draw) or a failure. == == == == == == == == == == == == Again, this update can be downloaded from http://rapidshare.com/files/360312125/Dog_of_War_Campaign_Rev_1_0.zip We hope that you enjoy the campaign. 13. Toast No, you are not missing anything. Revision 0 did not incorporate "Mission Success" messages.:( HOWEVER, Revision 1 will to a degree. Four mission (two new ones and the first two existing ones) will have mission success, mission draw (stalemate) and mission failure messages. Also these missions are linked so that the next mission will automatically launch. There is some randomness built into what launches next as well :):) We hope to get Rev 1 up by this coming Monday. :joystick: Thanks for playing and asking!
  14. igormk, THANKS!!!!! That should work just fine. As to being primitive, I wouldn't say that at all. You have to work with the tools provided in the ME, and that includes the limitations. I'll give it a try and let you know how it worked. Salute! :joystick:
  15. You can use an editor to edit the ME files to a degree. I think it has to be something besides Notepad, something that can handle Lau files. As to converting AND to OR, look for a thread by Panzertard entitled - Mission Editor - Hot tips S!
  16. All, I am trying to setup mission success, stalemate, or victory conditions. I would like it setup so that if you keep the enemy outside of certain rages, then the mission is 1) a success, 2) a draw, or 3) a failure. For example I would like the conditions to be: - Enemy units outside of 3000 m – Mission Success - Enemy units inside 3000 m but outside 1000 m – Mission is a Draw - Enemy units within 1000 m – Mission failure I know that I can use Zones to set up the 3000 m, 1000 m but I really don’t want to setup 90 + triggers (for each zone) to see if a enemy unit is inside the zones. I have LOTS of units in the mission primarily because I have random triggers setup so that it does not play the same every time. (approximately 20 groups with 90 -110 units) I wish that there was a “Group in Zone” trigger because that would be manageable, but as far as I knoe there is no such animal. I know that you can edit the “AND” to an “OR” but you still would have to enter 90+ triggers. Does anybody know of a easy way to do what I want to do. :surrender: :book:
  17. Uh .... .... .... NO! More updates to Dogs of War campaign to come soon! Things to come are .... mission tweaks, two new missions (one is just an intro), and ... .... linking of the missions. Besides Topgun I KNOW how much you LOVE dogging those missiles!!!
  18. Wags, That is very generous of TFC and Eagle Dynamics. I would like to thank TFC, Eagle Dynamics, yourself and all the others behind the scenes that made this contest possible. Hopefully the community will enjoy both campaigns for a long time to come. I would also like to congratulate the “Georgian Havoc” team for an excellent campaign. Keep up the great work. Salute! :pilotfly:
  19. Uh, would you believe that the instructions say that just before firing the weapon, the infantry must jump 2 feet in the air and then fire? :) Sorry about that, my error. I'll note that and revise to say shoulder-mounted SAM, or anti-air capability. Thanks for catching that and pointing it out. :pilotfly:
  20. All, Is there a reliable way to copy a protion of the logic from one mission to another. I have developed some base logic to try and link multiplayer missions and it sure would be nice not to have to enter in via the ME in every mission (logic is ~45 lines of Triggers/Rules/Actions. I have tired the following. 1) Rename miz to zip 2) “unzip” the file 3) Open the mission file via Notepad++ 4) Copy portions of the following sections, and then past in mission file under appropriate heading a. Actions b. Conditions c. Flags d. Functions e. Trig Functions f. Trig flags g. Trig rule 5) Zip file up and rename to miz. When I run the ME it brings up the file without crashing , however no new triggers show up. :( Appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks!! :book:
  21. I also agree. It is like comparing "apples" and "oranges", both are fruits, but the comparison ends there. I'll second that. At least we have two for the community to enjoy. :) Boy! You can say that again!! There were a few points that we weren't sure about completing our campaign. It does take a lot to put missions and campaigns together. A lot more than we thought at the outset of the competetion. Thank you sir! The "Dogs of War" team extends the same warm wishes to all of thoe "Georgian Havoc" team! There is no doubt that both teams have leaned much about the ME and "tricks of the trade" and all would benefit from such an effort! :) Salute!!
  22. See the first page of http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=43761 In the quote by Waggs he states " We will judge the campaigns based on a combination of a community poll and an Eagle evaluation. Things like localization, briefings, game play, scripting, and balance of fun/realism will all be factored.". That indicates that the poll is only part of the overall determination. Salute!
  23. All, Thought I would point out a feature of the Dogs of War Campaign that is not clearly evident. As Topgun505 has noted in a separated thread, several missions in the Dogs of War campaign do contain random elements. These elements ranges from where the initial and reserve units spawn, whether air units show up to support the enemy ground troops, or where the down pilot is located. Missions that have an element of randomness are mission 1 – 7, 10, 12 (partially implemented), and 15. This was done to add some replay value to the campaign and the missions themselves. This feature is not readily apparent unless you only replay the campaign or replay the missions listed above. This does not include Mission 14A and 14B which are very similar with the exception that 14B has ships that need to be dealt with. We hope that this adds some to your enjoyment of the campaign and Black Shark. :joystick: :) :pilotfly:
  24. isoul, Thanks for the questions with respect to the scenario basis. Yes it would be more realistic to have the scenario to have the US facing another national army, but we wanted to stay away from pitting the US against Russia, or vice versa. In setting this up, we wanted to fly the KA-50 on the US side and against difficult threats (heavy Armor) and such. We also did NOT wanted to pit the US against Russia. The background developed does offer a plausible story of why the US is flying KA-50's. :smilewink: It doesn't offer much with respect to why the terrorist forces have such good equipment. :( When we first stated developing the campaign, one thought was that a rouge faction (Battalion level including small air and naval assets?) had split away form the government and started taking action. This is a thought , but as I'm not the best at weaving a good story, I'll get with the rest of the team and see what they think, and what we can develop for the next version. Again, thanks for the input.
  25. =FG=Schtuzer =FG=Schtuzer and team, Salute! Having just read this thread, and having just attempted a 15 mission, multi-player campaign I know how difficult this is, as well as how much time it takes. Looking forward to playing the missions and campaign!
