I am trying to start learning how to employ scripting and using Lau. I have lots of questions but not sure where to start. i hope that y'all can point me in the right direction. I have dabbled in programming over the years, so I understand the basic concepts. I have read 2/3 of Roberto Ierusalimschy's "programing in Lua" and still try to wrap my head around some of the concepts, but do have a start. I have downloaded Speed's zip file on chat IO lib and hope to be able to learn some from that. With that said, here are some of my questions to start! :helpsmilie: Is there a good source that describes some of the basics of setting up scripts to work with DCS products (ED manuals, ED forum threads, etc)? Is there a listing on some of the main functions, names, files, commands, that one needs to know/understand to work with scripting in DCS? How do you get scripts to interface with the DCS games? (how do you "call the" Do the scripts need to be in a certain directory? Is there a difference for script for SP and MP games? Would any of you be willing to mentor me and or send me simple problems to develop my skills and under standing. please explain to me all the other things that I need to know but haven't asked yet! :) Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

All, I am trying to learn how to do toss bombing. I have seen one video on YouTube and have tried that method. Listed below is the basic procedure that I have followed with the exception that I have set a separate profile for the CBU-97 with Pairs selected and CCRP as the mode of release. One problem that I am having is that as make my low level run-in to target (100-200 feet) I get the "Invalid fusing" Message. If I then come at the target from a more normal altitude (100 + feet) I can drop using the same profile. Can someone help? Thanks, Clutter 1. Set steerpoint to SPI 2. Bring up TGP 3. Set TGP Latch on if desired 4. Make TGP SOI 5. Slave TGP to SPI 6. Select target in TGP, set to POINT mode 7. Go to DMS 8. Select bombs and set to drop in pairs (set profile)[video used CBU-87] 9. Select CCRP mode 10. Stay low 11. Align TVV with SPI 12. Pull up While keeping weapon aligned with Azimuth steering line

How To have Delay client Ka-50 in MP
AKA_Clutter replied to AKA_Clutter's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
OK, here it is. The initial concept was developed by a Squad-mate and I'm trying to implement the forward Ka-50s that are available after the first FARP is active. The flight of Ka-50's that are at the FARP are Delta 1 through Delta 4. Batumi_Threat_R06.miz -
All, I am trying to develop MP missions where Client Ka-50's are available at an advanced FARP after the FARP has been made active about 15 minutes into the mission. What i have done to date is to set Ka-50s at the FARP (ramp start) with a delayed start time of 23 hours. I have triggers to "activate" these choppers 30 seconds after the units arrive to activate the FARP. If I start the mission inside one of these delayed start choppers, all works fine once FARP is active. However, if I start in another chopper and fly the mission until the choppers are made active, and then try to join in one of those, it doesn't work. I remain in the outside view looking at something else. Sometimes I have been able to be near the FARP and it appears that the choppers explode when I try to join. Does anyone know how to do what I am trying to achieve? TIA :pilotfly: :joystick:

I'm still hoping for the F/A-18 with carrier ops.

All, I am having major problems with the Shkval. What happens is that after I uncage the Shkval it starts to drift straight up. I have tried resetting the everything via backspace, turning on and off Automatic-turn-on-target-mode as well as Ground-moving-target . That seems to have no effect. I have had this problem with and without the above modes tuned on or off. Sometimes it occurs immediately after uncaging the Shkval and other times it works fine for a few minutes. I am using a CH HOTAS with the keys programed through the CH manager. In the Key test function all seems to work fine. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. TIA

I can't say for A-10C directly but when I went from 4 GB to 8 GB ( running a 64-bit OS) my fps in DCS:Black Shark went up by 15-20 fps. This surprised me greatly as I had not expected any significant increase. My only guess is that with the extra RAM there is less (to no need0 to access the virtual disk on the hard drive. :pilotfly:

Bucic, As I haven't played much of the original single player campaign, I can't say how the gameplay compares. I will say that there isn't a lot of radio chatter or other aircraft. A few missions have mixed forces, but for the most part you and your squad-mates are on your own. The concept was to build a campaign that squads could fly together. The thought was that the "emerson" and "radio chatter" would be provided by the people flying the mission. The PDF file that was included in the download should give you a feel of the missions included. Each mission can be flown by itself if one wishes. I'm in the Pacific Standard time zone in the US (UTC - 8 ) , so I think we are pretty much out of sync with each other. :( -

McVittees, Glad you are enjoying the campaign. :D Most missions are difficult at best with less than four, but can be done with three are all are very efficient. As to how the missions loads the next, that has only been implemented for the first phase of the campaign (Intro, mission 1 and mission 2 with mission 00 also linked if you fail mission 1 or 2). :( Given the state of the DCS:BS ME, it isn't easy to set-up Win-Draw-Lose conditions. We were working on linking the other missions, but got side tracked with trying to incorporate Flaming Cliffs 2.o into the missions. This works with some of the missions but not all. As such we just have a few that the AKA files together. With A-10C about out, we may go back and try to integrate the two. Given the state of the DCS:BS ME, it isn't easy to set-up Win-Draw-Lose conditions. hopefully that will change with the release of A-10C and (hopefully) a patch to make Black Shark compatible with A-10C. Again, glad you like it and feedback is always welcome. :pilotfly: -
Bahger, Glad you got it "fixed". I have CH gear and use CH Manager and generally run it in profile mode. TO date, I have had no issues with the sim or doing ramp starts. In Ramp starts I do use the keyboard commands (RALT + HOME and RCNRL + HOME) to move the throttles to the idle position. Like I said, I have not had any issues with this. A squad-mate did have an issue similar to what you described earlier. This was solved by setting a small dead zone ( ~ 3 to 5) at the throttle full back position. Drop me a PM if you have more questions or wish to swap profiles and CMS files.

Importing Templates from 1.01c to 1.02?
AKA_Clutter replied to AKA_Clutter's topic in User Created Missions General
I have one mission that is giving me problems. I keep getting the "error " screen while in the ME> I created it in BS 1.01, made some modes in BS ME 1.02, flew in FC-2, then made a change in FC-2 ME, saved. After that when I open in BS ME, I get the errors. Does anyone know if this could be the source of my errors, or something else? -
All, I seem to be getting a lot of ME "error's/ mini lock-ups. When this occurs, I get a few error message dialog boxes that says something about LUA loading a nil value. When I clear these, I can do 1 or 2 more operations and then it locks again. Anyone else seeing this behavior.

Importing Templates from 1.01c to 1.02?
AKA_Clutter replied to AKA_Clutter's topic in User Created Missions General
:-( Bummer -
All, I installed the patch over my 1.01 install. Took a couple of tries, but seems to work fine. I did note that it replace my templates with a blank set. I found the templates.bs file in the DCS\BlackShark\Blackshark directory in my 1.01 backup and placed in the same folder in my 1.02 install. When I go to try and chose a template, it shows all the names, but then the game locks and Alt-Tab shows several "error" screens. Does anyone know how I might get my tempatles back into 1.02 without reinstalling. Thanks, Clutter :pilotfly:

Trying to understand AI pilot limitations.
AKA_Clutter replied to AKA_Clutter's topic in User Created Missions General
Igormk, No luck with that either. The setup has the chopper down to 30m at 30 kmh about 2 - 2.5 km from the FARP once it gets to within ~ 1.75 km, it pops back up to ~54m w/o a real increase/decrease in speed. Later on it slows to 20 and then 5 kmh w/o a change in alt. I've tried with the FARP being captured before the Chinook gets within 1.75 km. :-( -

Igormk, my original set was something similar to that. Ill go and tweak my test setup to see if it helps. Thanks! Salute! -

:-( No luck. No significant difference in height. I had the AI go to an altitude of 25 m About 2500 m from the FARP. It did not go to less than 50 m -

I'll give that a shot. -
All, I’m trying to setup a mission where you capture an enemy’s airbase, and then have a Transport helicopter bring in the FARP support units. This is setup as US taking over a RU FARP with a Chinook bringing in the support units. I have waypoints set so that the Chinook is supposed to fly about 6 m about the FARP at approximately 5 kmh. The Chinook does slow down, but I cannot get the Chinooks to go less than approximately 90 meters. Can anyone tell my what is going on?:book: :helpsmilie: Thanks AKA_Clutter

Master Arm Key Command?
AKA_Clutter replied to Dusty Rhodes's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Wags, Why is that? I us CH gear and use CH Manager for the different sims I have (BS, Rof< IL-2, etc) and that has worked fine in the past. Also, unless I've missed something, I would have to do this for EACH ac in FC2 whereas I can seup one CH profile. Again, I'm curious as to the basis behind the recommendation. :book: Thanks,
