The stutters im getting are not possible to deny. I prefer the 2xmsaa on also, but i used to have to turn down SS to 80% and most details to medium to low and shadows to flat to be able to have a stable fps. Right now it looks like i will have to turn it down even further to enjoy VR.

Without the adapter right into the USB C port.

Been testing some more hours. Using the OpenVRSettingsUX.exe and switching things up again and having reprojection there set at 'per app' i somehow got smooth motion back in the cockpit. Its a big difference compared to the stutters i had. My fps is even forced at 45fps! Weird thing is i have tried this setting many times before and somehow now that made a difference. Glad it did. Finally something made a difference at all! But, its like it always comes with a 'but', and thats i seem to have some artifacts or ghosting at some places in my screen. Like when moving my mouse over clickable things in the DCS menus i see this happening. Never used to have this before. And i still see performance loss that my pc is having a hardtime keeping the fps even at 45fps while i have my SteamVR SS at 50%. I have no idea if this is caused by whatever has happend since i switched motherboard and had to reinstall Windows, or its a coincidence i did this while the last DCS patch came out and that brought the performance loss with it. I read there are many players reporting this in de 'performance bug' section of the forum, saying they see more then 15% fps loss which is crucial for VR.

I have selected 60hz in the WMR settings. Somehow this is giving me a very smooth experience and all the stutters are gone. But the flashing white lights makes it not easy on the eyes. Its weird cause a few days ago when i tried the 60hz setting this also gave me stutters. Edit: another session in 60hz and im getting the stutters again but depending on where i look. Edit: Went back to 90hz again and the stutters are back again in the DCS VR hangar menu with the fps stuck at 60fps instead of 90. Its all making no sense at al.

Yes. But most settings doesnt make a difference. I used to be able to play with mssaa x2 at 80% SS without these stutters. Im also getting a lot of SteamVR errors saying " SteamVR is disabled because ir crashed the last time it ran. Would you like to try again?"

I see i havent mentioned something at all what might be helpfull. The stutters only appear in the headset and being in the cockpit when moving my head. Like its a tracking issue. When i press f2 or any other outside view its all smooth. Even though there is still something off with my fps. Its like motion reprojection isnt working causing my fps to go all over the place being mostly arround the 60fps. At the moment somehow my fps in DCS homescreen is back at 90fps and no stutters. Now whats left is solving the in cockpit stutters which are in every aircraft. Changing all the motion smoothing and motion reprojection settings are making no change in game.

When my g2 worked great in comparison right now, my fps was mostly also set at 45fps with motion smoothing enabled. It only went to 90 when not much was happening arround me or looking in the sky. This at 80% SS and PD at 1.0. Are you also having continiously stutters when moving your head arround?

Thanks for your feedback Speed. Im well aware of the better resolution the G2 has over the rift S. But the stutters are not making sense. I didnt had these stutters before my motherboard/Windows change. Even at 20% SteamVR SS and my graphics are way worse then my Rift S im still having these stutters. Something is definitely off causing these stutters.

Zotac RTX 3070. Ryzen 5 5600X. Corsair 32GB ram at 3200mhz. Samsung 2x250 GB Evo SSD's. Sharknoon 750W Gold PSU. Currently since yesterday using a MSI MPG B550 Gaming plus motherboard.

I have another topic about some G2 issues i had. But the main issue, the immense stutters im getting still isnt fixed. I hope by making this topic just only about the stutter issue might get more attention and there might be someone with a fix. The problem: Im having extreme stutters making it unplayable in VR. I have tried so many settings, reinstalls of DCS, reinstalls of Windows 10 and 11, reinstalls of WMR abd SteamVR and what not trying to solve it without any difference. Im getting ungoing stutters moving my head, whether its in the DCS home menu or while being in a cockpit. Also my fps is acting weirdly. My fps is fluctuating and mostly being arround 60fps in DCS menus. All this has started when i had to replace my motherboard and reinstall everything i had on my SSD's. I have tried every setting, refitting hardware, testing another G2 and yesterday i have bought a new motherboard again hoping somehow that would fix it since it the problem started with replacing it a month ago. But again, no luck. I have no idea what else i can do. For more then a month im busy trying to solve this issue, spent many precious hours on it and im stuck with exactly the same problem. My older Rift S still works flawless and smooth, no stutter. My G2 even stutters having SS set at 20% having way worse graphics then my Rift S. My G2 didnt have these stutters before i had to replace my MB and reinstall Windows and i could play multiplayer with even over 100% SS and not even having these stutters im having now. You would say it has something to do with WMR and SteamVR, while their home menus like cliffhouse works totally smooth, the issue starts when starting DCS and the stutters begin. Its making no sense..

Just finished testing. And im ready to throw out my pc at the garbage. Nothing has changed except 120 euros lighter and hours into replacing hardware, installing software and testing. I got my pc for playing just this game, DCS, and i cant play it anymore. Shoot me, im totally done with this. Im out of ideas and testing. #$$&#*#

Just ordered another motherboard. Went for the MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus. Will be interesting to see tomorrow when installed if its going to make the difference im hoping for.

I always have PD set at 1.0. I have tried everything regarding to settings in DCS. Im sure this has nothing to do with DCS since it used to work great with the same hardware im still using. Earlier this year i upgraded my cpu and went from a 2600 to a 5600x. With the 2600 my gpu usage wouldnt go much higher then 60%. With the 5600x cpu my gpu goes near 100% with ease. This also happend a few weeks before when my G2 worked fine. I have no idea why my current issue is happening now. Im still hoping that trying another motherboard magically solves it. Havent been contacted today by the supplier about further actions. Im going to order a new motherboard again today and i will see what to do with my current motherboard if they will take it back yes or no.

Ok, one last test and using FPSVR while standing still at Batumi airport in the P51. Left is SteamVR SS at 60%. Right is SS at 100%. At 60% my menus are 90fps and stutterfree, but in cockpit its a mess. At 100% my menus are stuck at 60fps and its a stuttery mess everywhere. A little later doing another test again at 60% SS my fps was mostly at 60 and the stutters were a little less, but still too much to enjoy. My mirror screen is always fluent no matter how much stutters i see through the lenses. Im not that familiar with how to read the info using these fps/frametime apps. If someone could clarify some things its much appreciated.

Since this thread stopped without telling if you fixed it. Did you? If so, what did you do?

Im still in contact with my supplier. Today i formatted my DCS SSD and again reinstalled WMR and SteamVR and DCS open beta. Weird thing is my fps in the DCS menus is again at 90fps. Getting in a flight and unfortunately the big stutters are still there. Fps is going somewhere between 40 and 60. Looking up unto the sky before the problems started it went to 90fps. Now its stuck at plus minus 60fps. Rift S still working great. But the downgrade in resolution doesnt feel right. I want my G2 performance back! Tomorrow im going to demand a new motherboard!
-
Yeah really weird. And sounds like the same issue im having. You should indeed be having a better vr experience then just getting 32fps. Im still waiting for a reply. In the meanwhile no idea how long its gonna take them, i will be enjoying my rift s again. Glad i didnt already sold it.

Yes it quite frustrating and not making any sense whats causing this. I did try smt on and off, same about gamemode. Now in the end i concluded it must be the motherboard. Cause with my old motherboard the G2 worked fine. And since i had to change it the issues started. By testing my Rift S which still works great even with the new motherboard but the G2 doesnt. Even my father in law his G2 doesnt work on my pc and works great on his own. Im pretty positive that another motherboard, and i dont know which yet will work with the G2. But what exactly this is causing it, is still a mystery. At the moment im waiting for a reply of the retailer.

I have the v2. I tried my father in law his g2, same problems. I tried his usb powered hub. Same problems. Now my really last try is going back to a previous bios version to see if that makes a difference. If not i will have to send back my motherboard and try another one. Edit: tried it all, no difference. Going to contact my motherboard supplier to return it.
-
From what i see online about the cables. Im having the V2 cable with the little box where you connect the powercable into. I did try pcie gen 3, gen 4, auto in the bios. My father in law has also a powered usb 3 hub. So later today im going to borrow it and try. Fingers crossed. Edit: checking some more pics abour the V1 cable i see that one also has that box where the powercable connects, but looks more rectangle then the v2 which is square. I think mine is square, but not sure and i aint home untill later today to check it.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately... you might can guess it, it didnt help. Tomorrow im going to try my father in law his g2 to see if that makes any difference. If my father in law his G2 is also causing the same stutters on my system the only last guess i can think of is the motherboard/usb that there is some kind incompatibility with the G2 and maybe a powered usb hub might work.. If that still isnt im totally done with it. Have put an tremendous amount of precious time into troubleshooting, and its not making any sense at all.

Yesterday i was trying to contact HP support also due to G2 issues and i also was not able to continue cause the serialnumber was not valid. I also tried the '0' and 'O'. Wouldnt work.
