  1. 2600 k @4.8 Ghz on stock cooling. After about 1-minute with Prime 95 the temps went into the red so I set it back to default. I don't really have a need to O/C this proc. It's fast enough, faster than the 975 Extreme I replaced.
  2. I didn't see any love for A-10C in the Nvidia release notes and still experience micro-stutters and disappearing label textures. They seem to be on a 4 - 6 month release schedule so unless ED can fix this stuff some of us are going to have to live with it.
  3. I am downloading now. Hopefully the disappearing label textures and MFD corruption is cleared up. These issues were really getting on my nerves yesterday.
  4. TrackIR 5 and TM Warthog are the two things at the top of my list for A-10C. When TM fixes the throttle problem I'll buy one because I want one bad. I am currently working with the Kinect on my PC and OpenNI source as a possible head tracking solution for A-10C and other flight sims. One of the biggest problems I've run into is the 24" minimum range the device requires just to see a subject. It cannot track reliably at this range but might be doable at 36". Additionally, Kinect seems happiest when it can see the entire subject, not just the upper body, and I really don't want to fly standing up. I hope I can Kinect working as a reliable tracking solution for flight simming but if not, then I'll pick up a TrackIR 5.
  5. Bumfire, I feel your pain because I have Carpal Tunnel as well. The median and ulnar nerves in both arms get pinched and not only does it cause the pins and needle feeling in my hands, but severe pain in my elbows. Every hit your funny bone? That's what it feels like, and it keeps me awake at night. Surgery is something I am seriously considering. Just some advice though, if the doc says take a break from flight sims then do it. Trust me, it's not worth it. My doctor told me that some people do manage to recover from it, you might be one of the lucky ones.
  6. I'll just create a Jar Wrapper :megalol:
  7. A standalone .exe would be nice. Just my .02, no criticism intended. Since I am a .NET weenie I could convert it to C# if there was enough interest and with approval from the author. Then again, the author could code it in C# since they already know Java. Ok, now I am just rambling. oritpro out :pilotfly:
  8. I've come really close to pulling the trigger on the TM Warthog and only one thing has stopped me, price. It's not that I can't afford it, it's just grossly overpriced imo. Now I have two reasons not to buy one. :( My past experience with Thrustmaster is that they provide excellent support for their products, so here' hoping they fix the issues and get everybody squared away soon.
  9. This sounds like a hardware problem. A driver problem will usually result in a memory dump and the problem driver will appear on the stack preceeding a call to KeBugcheck. It could be anything; Video card, sound card, chipset, processor, etc. Start with the simple things first. * If you've overclocked anything in your system before, even if it's not overclocked now, then those components are likely suspects. * Disable your sound card in the BIOS or device mangler and play without sound. See if the problem re-occurs. * Beg, borrow, steal another video card even if it's not as good as the one your using. It should be able to play the game at minimum settings though. See if the problem re-occurs. Beyond that, I am out of ideas.
  10. Simply un-checking the automatic restart box wouldn't solve a spontaneous bugcheck problem. I suspect that there is something wrong with your video card. I've seen video hardware "partially fail" where a small section of the GPU chip responsible for a specific feature will go out and cause a system crash when it's called to do work by an application such as a game. Burn-in test might not be exercising that section/feature of the GPU so I'd consider that test inconclusive at this point. Any hardware failure will cause Windows to intermittently reboot or shutdown. Driver problems are more likely to result in a memory dump whereas hardware failures do not.
  11. This could still be a hardware problem or a driver problem. Games and applications runs in user mode or ring 3, and are not capable of crashing Windows 7. Drivers run in kernel mode or ring 0, and can crash Windows 7 or any version of Windows. It looks like your system bugchecked. Do you see a file called \windows\memory.dmp or any files in \windows\minidump that are dated around time your system crashed? If so, they might contain a clue. WinDBG from the Microsoft DDK can be used to inspect these files and there's a Systernals tool available as well. The former would be better. Sometimes these spontaneous reboots don't generate a memory dump: * Right click on My Computer * Select properties * Click the advanced tab * Click the startup and recovery button * Uncheck the automatically restart checkbox under system failure This should prevent the computer from restarting and allow you to see the cause of the bugcheck the next time it happens.
  12. Something that I've found helpful is to document the training missions word for word as I work through them and take screen shots. The typing can be tedious but it might help you remember the steps and you'll have a reference guide to use later on. There's a ton of reference guides out there that you might find useful. A dual monitor set up also helps; sim on one screen, guide on the other. Also, there's no shame in using the active pause cheat (Pause LShift LWin). After about three weeks I've finally reached the point where I can start the plane, navigate waypoints, work the radio, hit my targets, and egress the combat area. I can't land yet and still have a lot to learn. As several people have already said, a lot of practice helps!
  13. Yeah, I've had the panel text disappear quite a few times. The trick is to turn the interior lights on low. Nvidia hasn't released a driver since January so a new one should be out soon. Hopefully that will help with some of the graphics issues. Now that I think of it, I did turn HDR back on after 1107 came out since the SIM was running a lot smoother. Maybe that has something to do with it...
  14. I was on my second playthrough with the CSAR mission and getting ready to lockup a AAA sight with a MAV when the text in both MFD's blacked out. like black bars instead of text. This has not happened before 1107 came out, then again, I've spent most of my time with the training missions up to this point.
  15. I turned HDR off for pretty much the same reason. It just made everything look kinda weird.
  16. Ok, I finished the mission successfully, twice. The solution was to replace my keyboard. The up arrow key was "bouncing" so the sim probably wasn't detecting the HOTAS TMS UP (short)and HOTAS TMS UP (long) commands correctly via L. CTRL + UP. This explains a few other problems I was having too. Good to go, thanks for the quick reply.
  17. Lots of good information, thanks everyone. I can already picture what my computer desk is going to look like here in a few months. :)
  18. I am stuck on the AN/AAQ 28 Litening-II training mission. I can get as far as designating a target at waypoint 4 as an SPI using the HOTAS TMS UP (long) command, and then the mission stalls out after that; in other words, I can continue flying around but the trainer seems to go AWOL. I've created a training document while working through this mission and documented all of the instructions given by the trainer from the beginning up to this point, so I am pretty sure I am following all of the required steps. Is this a known issue? I am running A10C v1.1.0.6.
  19. Thanks for the reply Kuky. I am just getting back into flight sim's after a 10+ year hiatus and was looking into some accessories that might help. I'll look around some more, Cougar MFD's are on my list for sure.
  20. Is anybody using the MIMO UM-720S Touchscreen with A10C? http://www.amazon.com/UM-720S-Screen-Powered-Swivel-Display/dp/B002QFP4Z8/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1301362575&sr=1-1 It looks like a pair of these would make great MFD's.
  21. Thanks for the tip WarriorX, you're way ahead of me. I haven't done much with the radios yet.
  22. I created an A10C start-up guide based on the training mission in the SIM. It includes several screenshots with the controls highlighted just as they are during the training mission. I've found it helpful as I learn my way around the cockpit and thought that others might find it helpful as well. On Google Docs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oSPiSZn2C10N5KbuJgvF2kETX9olzRt3Nqm8P-_hYms/edit?hl=en# Enjoy
  23. I was able to add dcs.exe on my system, same OS. What do you mean by cannot add dcs.exe, does it display an error?
  24. Oh wow, that is awesome!
  25. Add me to the Missing Labels Club. It's a bit frustrating when your trying to learn the SIM. I also have a GTX460.
