TAC11 instructor hard break turn into my plane on final
eLgargantuan replied to Mermoz's topic in A-10C TTQ Campaign
He just ran into me on long final in mission #2 when I dropped the gear. Maybe have him detach at WP9 or something. That was a pretty frustrating ending -
TAC11 - altitude triggers seem way off for gun strafing
eLgargantuan replied to eLgargantuan's topic in A-10C TTQ Campaign
Well, I was able to pass it without VAICOM, so I suspect there is an issue with that affecting the trigger. Its a wonderful free tool, I'll point this issue in their direction to get it on their radar if not already. I'm not sure if its an A-10CII specific thing or not, but the triggers for the A10 campaigns seem to be affected. -
TAC11 - altitude triggers seem way off for gun strafing
eLgargantuan replied to eLgargantuan's topic in A-10C TTQ Campaign
Ah that's interesting. I'm not sure if its intended but the check in happened automatically for me when I passed over the FENCE-IN waypoint turning for Alpha so I assumed I just needed to fly directly over Charlie then to the Fence Out to get the same result on exit. I'll check the video out, thanks! Admittedly I do run VIACOM which has been a known source for some AI related issues in campaigns before. -
TAC11 - altitude triggers seem way off for gun strafing
eLgargantuan replied to eLgargantuan's topic in A-10C TTQ Campaign
That did seem to do the trick for the altitude trigger. My misunderstanding was when I heard the recording say "Continue to Control Point Bravo" I was turning direct to bravo too early and skirted the edge of the trigger at alpha. So that's figured out... But now the next problem I'm having is when I complete all of the FAC taskings from Uzi and Hammer (by now I've taken down 6 different 9-lines), I get no further taskings available. Then I head towards Charlie for the exit and get the "You're now at end of VUL checkout with the controller" - I'm not sure how to do this since I've completed all tasking with the FACs? When I attempted to re-check in they said no further taskings. I fly to WP charlie at 6000ft, nothing happens, no F10 radio menu option to check out. Then proceed toward the Fence Out way point and get a "you exited the target range without authorization PO is terminated" message. Now what am I missing? I thought I read the documentation thoroughly but I think I've missed something that describes what is necessary from me on these procedures/finding the correct trigger zones to fly over. Is there a hidden timer that I need to complete things within a certain time? Some other trigger? Please help, this mission was fun and good practice but after 10 times I've practically memorized the 6 MGRS target coordinates at this point and am losing the patience to continue.. I want to do it right but I'm creeping up on a skip ping the mission, which I would much prefer avoiding if at all possible. -
TAC11 - altitude triggers seem way off for gun strafing
eLgargantuan replied to eLgargantuan's topic in A-10C TTQ Campaign
Ah that could definitely be it. I was turning direct to Bravo after talking to the check in controller so I might have missed that trigger zone. I'll post back when I can try again soon! Thanks for the response! -
I saw the thread on altitmeter settings but it seems when I'm in the VTA working with Uzi 1-1 on TGT4, a gun strafe is requested and when I go below 5000ft I get a mission failure because i busted the hard deck. Am I not understanding correctly that the harddeck should be 100 feet AGL not 5000 MSL? Thanks, I can't seem to get past this point after a few attempts now and have started to consider using a gbu12 when I try it again next time.

ARC210 - Any Issues?
eLgargantuan replied to TripleTapper's topic in A-10C Iron Flag Part I Campaign
Ahhh the AM/FM mod got me too! Thanks, this worked when I also re-ran M6 skip to AAR. -
WORKAROUND #4: I had another idea to attempt to play in single-threaded DCS and I had no trouble loading from 15a-intro to 15b via the campaign menu. I completely understand why the mods are suspected, but I lean towards this being a multithreading issue at this point. The security logs EDBen mentioned are a known issue due to vaicom voice mod with jester and while there's any workaround available I'm definitely not gonna fly the F-14 without that. Hope this helps the next person trying to figure this out.

WORKAROUND #3: I'm happy to report that it works when you load and start the mission from the mission editor! Either starting with 15a-intro or loading straight into 15b works, and I was able access the campaign miz in the editor file browser, so no need to copy it to saved games. If I attempt to play the miz via the campaign menu, or the suggested workarounds for the mission menu, the load always hangs at "Wait for pooled tasks - 1" stage. After I complete the mission I'll go back and "Skip" in the campagin menu
-
@Reflected Does it ever complete? Am I just being impatient? It turns out I can't even start 15b from the mission menu screen, so I haven't been able to actually play it yet I'm not sure if it helps but I've attached my dcs.log from attempting to load straight into 15b. I do have some mods installed that I did not disable yet, and i ran a full repair yesterday. No joy dcs.log
-
Yeah I hit this today as well, twice. I was not able to get "EDIT 2:" workaround to work initially, so I only loaded into 15b to get in to start the mission. Kind of a bummer that I'll hav to click skip later but at least I'll know I completed it

Ah, good to know.... Today's attempt went better but still not ideal... I did have to shoot down the tanker to get Paco to fly home... I also waited for the boat to stop turning to begin startup/alignment, but at the very end I was still 60nm away from the WP when I found mom flying off Paco's wing. I overstressed the airframe >7.5G, but I did not see any cautions in the rear pit. Got on board okay and can continue with the next mission though...Thanks!

Thanks, it didn't go so well actually. I did proceed to the island and got eyes on the boats, but had a snafu where first pass I didn't have ORD selected :(. After that, jester wasn't cooperating very well, the pod was pointed at the boats and I followed the cues/symbology but the bombs missed wildly. After this, went with Paco to AAR. I was wayyyy above fuel ladder, so I quickly just hit F10 option to say complete. After Paco tanked, i got the message that he was kissing off the tanker, hammers switched to strike, then to button 1. Heard all that, but Paco never left formation with the tanker. Eventually I decided to head back to the Launch Point but couldn't find Mom anywhere. I'm guessing I either missed a trigger, or that the magnetic variation/compass was not properly synced. (I noticed a 5 deg offset when jester was completing setup) Probably should have just hit the compass sync button and hoped for the best in flight? (I don't know of a RIO command to bring up the magvar on the TID, and didn't want to jump in the backseat and throw off something with the scripting) Guess I'll be flying this one again sometime (I'm not really about using that skip button).

@Reflected I could swear I got that close in my first attempt... I'm not sure if it matters but I rejoined on the outside wing of the turn... just now I used Shift+U to launch - which cues the glove images and voice recordings which is a nice plus - but after watching your video I joined on the inside of Paco's turn and he detected me pretty quickly -- I don't think I even got as close as I got on the outside of the turn? Proceeding on with the mish now....

Question: Mission 12 rendezvous at angels 25
eLgargantuan replied to Sonoda Umi's topic in Bugs and Problems
Just saw this thread after posting about this problem on another. I am also hitting this issue, I use a VAICOM "Salute" command which likely uses the Radio Comm "Salute" to shoot. I'm also missing the comms on gear up,etc. I'll try it again later using Shift+U.... -
I've been holding with Paco above mother for nearly 30 min now, did I miss something I needed to do or a trigger possibly? (I've been on preset 13 in the front seat, if that helps)

Single ship missions RIO tunes wrong presets until takeoff
eLgargantuan replied to eLgargantuan's topic in Bugs and Problems
Interesting... I've been turning on the HUD immediately after connecting ground power+air, before telling jester to begin start up. Do you turn on the HUD at a different point? -
Mission 15 - is there a missed comms push?
eLgargantuan replied to Sandman1330's topic in Bugs & Problems
Haha I think I picked the wrong day to re-attempt this mission. This time I was able to get the push call after first AAR/IP, but my wingman Snake31 (or was it 21?) continued to follow the tanker and then orbit around the IP for the remainder of the mission. I opted to continue in with Sledge 21 and 22. I ate a missile over the target but my jet was still working. On the egress I think something else went wrong, I heard a "Brooms Commit" comms over the radio, but then noticed Sledge 21 and 22 orbiting about midway back to WP6. Eventually I decided to RTB. On the RTB, mother was not responding to my inbound call. When I got to about 12nm from mother, I heard the Broom comms continue as if Broom3 engaged and shot down a group. Still no response from mother. I recovered on mother, did not get any indication that the mission completed. When I exited the mission, DCS crashed (suspect possible server issue related to the new update/sinai release). Awesome mission idea but dang lol... might come back to trying this again in a few months so I can see how it was meant to go. Thanks for the campaign Baltic! -
Single ship missions RIO tunes wrong presets until takeoff
eLgargantuan replied to eLgargantuan's topic in Bugs and Problems
All of that is possible, if it's not reproducing for others then I'm happy to call it my own issue and close this one. I don't think the voice attack would be doing anything differently when I am a single ship vs 2-ship or 4-ship. The same goes for my start up procedure, which is as close to "by the book" as I can get when referencing the NATOPS (doing the tests, checking hydraulics, etc). its odd to me that it only happens on the missions when i am single ship. Also the voice attack should only key up when I select the mic to unmute it, otherwise it shouldn't be accepting any input/commands. Generally I just use the "Jester, start up" and then nothing until "ready to taxi". In this campaign specifically, since the "RIO" handles most of the setup/switching back there, I don't really need to use it at all and it typically just sits waiting for command input (when I push the button for it to listen). -
I noticed it in the initial mission(s) with Paco in the backseat and also in mission 9 departing Nellis: It seems that when ready to taxi the RIO tunes presents one behind the radio they should be on. In the front seat I tune preset 2 for clearance while the RIO is still on preset 1. Then the RIO increments to preset 2, I need to tune preset 3 to hear the "ground" taxi request/clearance. Same for tower on preset 4. If the front seat doesn't tune the correct frequency you won't hear the audio/clearances from ATC. I think this is a bug because I was given the impression that the front seat didn't need to tune anything and leave it on preset 1 for the tactical frequency. Not sure if this is a DCS AI limitation but wanted to report it if it wasn't yet. Loving the campain and how humbling it is! This was no issue for me when doing 2-ship and 4-ship flights, the RIO tuned correctly on those.

Yes, I use VAICOM along with a soundpack mod, a wind/weather briefing mod, A-10 CDU/Database mods, a CMS profile mod for the hornet, hornet ControlsIndicatorColor mod, multiplayer chat text color mod, and have several installed including: High Digit SAMS, Civil Aviation, T-45, UH-60L, A-4E, a custom theme, and several aircraft skin mods. Do you think one of these would have affected the AI behavior? I haven't tried to re-test to see if it reproduces.

I'm guessing this is an AI "feature", where it won't actually wait for you to do a control wipeout/final checks before take off? I started to do so (following the voice recordings) and then i exploded because -3 decided to take off through me. I did notice in the pdf the admin briefing says to take off as quickly as you can after Paco, for this reason. It might be worth updating the Campaign Tips to ignore the voice recordings and the wipeout pre checks on your own?
