Neverending contest (military aviation knowledge)
lawndartleo replied to Kusch's topic in Military and Aviation
It's American in origin. The question is, its it a newer plane or was that pic taken when the plane was new? -
your Windows 7 gaming experience
lawndartleo replied to Squid's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'd have to call BS on that claim but I would not hesitate to suggest that you upgrade to W7 if you have the appropriate hardware. I was dual booting 7 and XP but have gone entiurely over to 7. FSX (have it, runs well enough for GA addons only. FSX is really just a shit pile of programming code from FS2000 that is dolled up to look better but runs worse... sadly, my favorite game, too) BS (have it, runs well, this one seems significantly improved over XP) F4 (have it, runs well, AA problems with Nvidia hardware) LOMAC (have it, runs well, may run even better with upcoming FC 2.0) -
DOSBox is your friend. I play lots of moldy oldies in DB, EF2K is one of them. Memories are far kinder than reality but then we had different expectations back in those days. We thought those were great graphics? LOL! None the less, EF2K was (...and in many ways still is) a great simulation.

How far OT are we allowed to go during the Christmas season? I've got a good one. -
I never find the fish hard to control until I have been flying for a while and then it seems that all the bad things I've been doing accumulate and cause me problems. Then it's clear trim and then manually regain control and start over. Oh well... Practice makes perfect. I think its the pursuit of mastery of flight that keeps us coming back.

You realize that if Topol gets this one he is going to be especially vindictive in his next offering. -

Too long. Thes bad boys are nearly 3m (9.7ft) long Too old. I doubt that Mig is converting all their early coldwar era jets designs to modern CAD. And the clincher, I think, is that the notch is opposite the hinges while on the Mig-9 doors the notch is on the same side as the hinges. -

Advice on Thrustmaster Cougar vs Saitek X52
lawndartleo replied to digital_steve's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If you can get a Cougar with good gimbals, it'll be 'da bomb. If you don't get good gimbals, I am not aware that any of the old mod makers are even make them any more so you may be pooched and have a stick with lots of center play (hence the reason so many of us bought mods). I moded my Cougar with White Eagles FCC mod ($300, 4 years ago). It has zero defelction (well, not exactly zero but the rubber bushings dont allow fur much movement). Great for jet sims but not so great otherwise IMHO. Others disagree and say they love the FCC mods for all gaming. I just don't share their opinion. The rest of the Cougar is very cool. Software and design/style are top shelf. It really is something that you have to try in order to understand. However, I must confess that my Cougar sits idle in preference to a full CH Products setup. I have USB yoke, stick throttle, throttle quadrant and pedals. I think that in terms of overall utility, CH is the best. -
