  1. I'd be delighted with the same level of functionality as a Pro Throttle and a split slider. Anyone with a cougar will know how the position change of buttons and dials can be a little bothersome because of the arced motion. At full burn it is a very comfortable grip but at anything less than 50% the wrist gets over extended. I know that the slide is not everyones favorite but it really is an ergonomic benifit.
  2. Yeah, nice for Uncle Sam but it's a HOffTAS for us, at least for a while. So is it safe to assume that the military isn't shelving the A-10 any time soon if people are making training simulator sticks for it. That is a very small market that pays very big bucks.
  3. I wish I could speak with some scientific certainty on this matter, but... From all that I observe and understand, yes, DCS does benifit from the use of multicore and 64 bit systems, and no, there is not a multicore benifit in XP32. FWIW, Win7Pro has been the best computer related purchase I have made in years, perhaps ever. It is not without it's warts, but as a whole it is a solid performer.
  4. Then what does this mean? From readme1.0.1_en.txt * Vista users using multi-core systems will now have affinity automatically set to use all cores.

Need a MIG-29 to go with that F-16. That would be "da bomb!" Two phone booth fighters over a battlefield prowled by Warthogs and Sharks. I've got goose bumps.

    Noooo... couldn't be.

I'll take a sim that has great fucntionality and low visuals any day over great visuals and low functionality any day. It's why Falcon has survived as long as it has. DCS-BS, thankfully, is delivering in both categories.
  8. The day I could run FS9 locked at 60 FPS (new uber system at the time) was the day that I decided that 24 is enough was just a bunch of hooey. That is not to say that it isn't enough, because it is. But if you can get a game to run at the refresh rate of your monitor, something special happens visually and suspension of disbelief kicks in a few notches higher.
  9. $567 into my cougar, and that was when the US dollar was worth more than toilet paper. Rather embarrasing, really, but still a nice setup for its intent.
  10. Having both a Cougar with the FCC mod and a CH combat stick, I do have the experience to comment, else I wouldn't. Thank you very much.

    MW2

Exactly. I have both... for PC (ARMA and GR). The problem is, such games are being cast aside for the run and gun variety. I am not sold on ARMA II, yet, but that is a discussion for another thread.

Now THIS is the TH2GO setup that I want...

Why can't a shooter be slow, methodical and cerebral, too? Or at least have game play options that allow for such game play.

You misunderstand Topol... I know what you mean and I agree it's a nice feature. My point was "a GOOD FSP has lean". I think you know what my point is by extension, then. As far as there not being enough buttons for lean on a console pad. I'll call Bulls#!t on that. Go play Socom:Confrontation. Hmmm... Strange... it has... LEAN.
  15. The stick does not move... at all. Its fixed in position and control surface defelction is proportional to force applied. This is how the controls work on the F-16 and I am sure a few of the more modern FBW fighters out there. This just does not work for WW2 sims, at all, where concious awareness of control stick position is soo much a part of flying the aircraft. Try it and you will know what I mean.
  16. Read my previous post. How Ironic. I chose WhiteEagles FCC mod over the mechanical replacements. Force sensitive is phenomenal for Falcon 4.0 but in any other game it just doesn't work. That would be the primary reason why I think Saiteks new offering will be a dud.

You meant to say GOOD FPS games have lean, right?
  18. I don't want to smack TM down but I had to spend another $300 to make my Cougar a good stick. They have great software and great styling but after that TM just left the Cougar to rot. The gimbals were horrid and a few enterprising people with the machines to make mods turned a pretty penny fabricating replacements. I don't think people are going to be fooled twice on this one. Unless it is something really special, I certainly wont be jumping at it. On the other hand, I have a perfectly functional Pro Throttle and will cast it aside in an instant for a split model from CH products.
  19. They noticed the traffic it generated and started to fear that they may have to deliver a product on time at a reasonable price and acceptable level of quality.
  20. FFB is just one of those things - you like it or you don't. I am in the I don't like it camp and I can tell you that A) turning it off never feels quite right and B) if TM goes the FFB route, they will be saving me money. It just means I 'll have the funds to purcahse a CH split throttle when it comes out.
  21. I hear an Apache, maybe. Seems to be some community push back against it, though, in favor of Fixed wing aircraft. Time will tell.
  22. That's why I said nothing sopecific has been found. I've found more UAV information than I can swing a dead cat at... just not a damn thing on that one so it must be rather obscure. Still looking once in a while, though.
  23. There certainly are plenty of UAVs, just cant seem to nail that one down. I believe it is referred to as a ringwing or ducted fan design. Nothing more specific than that has been located. http://aeroacoustics.kaist.ac.kr/?mid=UAV
  24. This is all so cruel for those of us waiting. Seems the Generals have discovered what we have known all along and have taken over our hobby for their purposes. No knock on the developers, go where the money is by all means. Doing tightly integrated military work can only benifit the development of sims.... still makes it tough to wait when you see all the goodies that the brass is getting.
