  1. Oh, also...Figured out Texaco was on TACAN 01X, but don't believe that's listed in the mission brief anywhere.
  2. LOVE this mission...targets, environment/cloud layer, mission concept, etc. Flew it as a 2-ship this morning so wasn't able to get through it all with the spartan but realistic loadouts (ran out of time to land, rearm, etc), but can't wait to get back and finish it. Only request is...could you make the tanker track a bit longer? Was able to take enough fuel to get back to Batumi after expending ordinance on Kutaisi, but that sucker was making a turn every two minutes (or at least it felt that way!). Again, awesome mission. Thanks.
  3. Oh, also, when you are setting up TIR in "camera view" try to make sure the three reflectors are towards the TOP middle of the screen, not just in the middle. Thus, you have much more area of movement looking down (within the cockpit) and to move your head around before the reflectors are "off the grid" - that is when things go haywire. It makes sense to do this since you won't ever be needing to go "up" within the grid - so set your view near the top, if that makes sense.
  4. I have mine mounted fairly close as well (24" or so) and sped up the z-axis in TIR so that I could look down with much less head movement. This might help. I have also noticed that I get much better results at this close of spacing from the TIR receiver using the hat clip vs. the pro clip, which is counter to what most people might tell you. Basically, don't expect a pro clip to solve your problems, especially if you have to mount the receiver close (2'). In any case, try a combination of more spacing if you can and/or tweaks to the z-axis in TIR and see if that helps.
  5. Most modern military airport runways, taxiways, and aprons (and large civilian airports) are built with rebar reinforced concrete, typically 10' or 12' squares. Much preferred over asphalt due to the fact that doesn't have to be resurfaced every couple of years like asphalt does. Asphalt is cheaper, but also ruts, especially on a runway near landing areas. The only weird thing about the Russian airfield blocks shown in the sim is the small, and rectangular size. More joints = more chances for breakup and FOD, as well as general maintenance (weeds, sealant, etc). The small size makes one assume these are prefab/modular blocks that were trucked in, not poured in place, as someone suggested above.
  6. Read through a few of the TARGET threads, but haven't seen an answer to this question. Curious if anyone has been able to link the Warthog throttle LEDs to activate on/off when you switch on/off the cockpit console lighting when in the sim.
  7. Thanks Slammin - yeah, I did notice that when I tried several configurations a few months ago. I did hook my third monitor up tonight and ran 3-screen main display in Nvidia surround mode and got good results FPS wise. The new Nvidia driver let's you run 3 monitors that aren't exact (resolution and refresh) that it wouldn't do last time I tried. That helps...though as a I get a fourth monitor up and export the MFDs I might run into the problem where Nvidia surround wants the third "main" monitor on your primary card, and so does the MFD export frame-wise.
  8. Using Windows 7. I had previously spent quite a bit of time optimizing with the second monitor (around the time of the release was the last time). Will try some of these settings and see if I can improve the FPS with the MFD's on the second monitor. Thanks.
  9. Looking to move back to multi-monitor but not sure what would be best for my next investment. Got the Cougar MFCDs late last year and flew with them attached to a second monitor for a while, but couldn't live with the drop in frame rates (20-25 FPS drop running the second monitor in windowed mode in A-10C) so they've been paper weights since. For all the immersion multi-monitors and MFCDs add, nothing ruins immersion more for me than having the frames go choppy over a battlefield during a critical part of the flight. Even with single monitor I can drop to 20-25 FPS over big cities in multiplayer and that is about the lowest I go before feeling like the immersion is ruined. I have two identical 24" monitors at 1920x1200 plus a third 19" at 1440x900 that I have previously used for the MFCD displays. Right now, I only use the second 24" for teamspeak and such - just running single monitor for the sim itself. Ultimately I would like to get a third 24" 1920x1200 monitor to be able to span my main display over three monitors at 5760x1200, then have the two MFCD monitors on the 19" monitor (or alternatively purchase two 8" LCDs to go behind the cougars rather than have to mount them on the 19"). Question is, with my system specs below, where should I invest to be able to support the above set up and keep frame rates above 30-35 fps in all scenarios? What is the best way to run it...SoftTH? Anyone using Nvidia surround? Should I look to upgrade my 460's to a higher end Nvidia card, or should I switch to an AMD card? Would trying to overclock to 4.0 help significantly? Thanks for any suggestions.
  10. I've always had the same issue (and have heard it reported here in other threads). The plane wants to yaw right on the ground and in the air. Very noticeable if I start any instant action mission - plane immediately yaws to right until I trim. I also have to rudder slightly left whenever I am taxiing to counter it. Some have said this is accurate to RL. Deadzones and curves do significantly reduce the effect.
  11. Just installed a new Nvidia driver 270.51 beta along with the 1.1.0.7 patch, will report back if still getting it.
  12. FWIW, I have both a track clip pro and the hat clip - using the hat clip since it works just as good for me, and is more comfortable. Hate having the track clip pro dangling about and it didn't improve my tracking. Well, that, and the track clip pro is already in a couple pieces after someone sat on it ;-)
  13. ...as for the wife, my plan is to hope that she doesn't notice that my "Cougar" throttle suddenly grew lights and switches. :smilewink:
  14. Nice. I just did the same thing - got a bonus and broke down and finally made the purchase. Now I just wish I'd have bought it 3 months ago so I'd be that much more up to speed with it.
  15. new bomb release sound? more of a click than the current dull thump...
  16. Updated to driver version 267.46 and still getting this frequently. Also, during one occurance I noticed much of the HUD symbology was suddenly missing along with the cockpit textures, though it returned with alt-tab to desktop and then back into the game, as the cockpit textures do.
  17. its in the "doc" directory of the game files.
  18. Thanks RodBorza. Pretty much how I was handling it but good tip to stay over the set way points when using the CAP....sometimes I decide to alter my approach in to the target area, but if there's some MIGs about I may overfly my coverage!
  19. Any tips on how to most effectively use the SEAD, CAP, and CAS units that are sometimes available in missions via the radio and F10? For the most part I've been sending SEAD and CAP in as soon as it's available to clean the way for me, then CAS sometime shortly after (just ahead of me) to start working on the objectives. Seems to make sense, but is there more strategy to this and am I missing something? Since it appears all you do is tell them to start, is there any reason to delay tasking them other than ASAP?
  20. I am having the same issue - was present in early betas, not with release, now seeing it happen again with the patch. GTX 460. at least i know the switches pretty well now. :-)
  21. awesome, thanks effte. +1 inbound.
  22. BRAVO, ED!! This sim kicks ass.
  23. I am about to go away for a week, so please ED...take your time...:-)
  24. Well, turns out they are Version 2...was looking incorrectly on the back of the MFD itself, not the bases (which I never used and left in the box since I mounted them on an LCD display). TM support did respond back to me about a week later, waiting now for their response to it being Version 2 MFDs, not 1's.
  25. Yep, the white stickers must have been removed. Hmmm.
