I haven't made a mission yet with blue skies. Try overcast & foggy (FOB Vetka) or mostly-cloudy (StandbyCSAR) with low ceilings, and up to 50 kt crosswinds w/dynamic weather in the latter. :D The lighting effects and weather effects in this sim are absolutely awesome and agree, underutilized in missions. That being said, more weather=havoc on lower end systems, so some of the reluctance to add weather comes from people wanting to maximize performance, understandably. The main thing I think this sim is missing weather-wise is a good mostly-cloudy (and moving) system that doesn't require adding 4-5 cyclones in dynamic (and testing 500 times to find the right combo to get the desired cloudiness). Thinking along the lines of having to look through and dive through holes in the clouds to find/hit targets, much like they did in the Gulf and Kosovo.

Awesome, thanks for sharing the video! Aries - will work on an update. Have learned a lot of things in the ME since Vetka, so will be able to improve and randomize a few things, including the second part of the mission. -

LostOblivion - You might need to convert from stereo to mono first if having trouble exporting to ogg, but it should work fine. HUGE difference over wav. file size. Another tip, in Audacity, go to "Tracks" menu, then "Reample". Convert from the default 44100hz to lowest 8,000hz. That will cut the ogg file in almost half right there, and I believe it also degrades the quality slighly to where it sounds more like an actual radio call. My .ogg files are now usually between 30 KB to 100 KB each. I've got missions with 40 voice overs and the miz file is down to 4 MB, big, but manageable. -
You have to create the CAP and SEAD flights in the ME, as well as triggers to have them do these tasks. It's not too difficult, but will require some intermediate-level ME work (triggers, flags, etc). To "call them in", you'll have to create a flag with an "add radio item" to add the call to the F-10 radio menu, then use that flag as the trigger for the SEAD and/or CAP flights you created. See the mission editors corner forum for help on this, and I suggest reading the GUI manual. As far as I know, using the SEND command in TAD to do anything with the AI flights won't do anything, though I only fly multiplayer. We use it in MP all the time to share targets, of course.

My experience so far in MP has been numerous and random CTDs for clients (though as host I haven't had one yet). This is running custom missions that were opened and edited in 1.1.1.0 so should be compatible. I'd post crash logs but I'm not the one crashing :-) -
What is your favorite change to 1.1.1.0?

The cockpit reflections suddenly turn on at about 45 degrees looking behind you, just not front view. I honestly didn't even notice it flying for 30 min.

FYI, got MP refueling working in some other missions, so issue may have been specific to the host and/or the mission being used (possible incompatibility of some sort). Tanker audio works except for the initial call from the tanker, which appears to be a known issue.

Anyone successful in multiplayer with refueling? We've had 2 CTDs at precontact in two tries, with different tankers. Did update the missions to new version in mission editor. Also, getting the radio text from tankers but no audio from them. We all patched vs. full-install, so not sure if that helps yet. We're testing right now to see if it's only server trying to refuel that causes CTDs or clients as well, but if anyone can confirm a successful refuel in MP that would be good to hear!

Aries - the second part could definitely use some more work, a bit anticlimactic after the first part. I've been working on other missions, but I would like to get back and make the second part a little better. -

I wished we'd have recorded the Teamspeak/TARS of the 30 seconds after that. We were dying laughing. It took about 5 seconds just to take stock of what had happened, but then the pure comedy of it was too much to subdue. -
popov - yes, the comms tower can be destroyed, but it's a pain in the a** with the loadout provided. The mavs don't lock onto the tower well, and the 82's have to be a direct hit (not easy to line up given the topography). I've definitely had my frustration with that tasking. If it makes you feel any better, we flew it tonight on our server (I hadn't flown it in weeks), and the pilot got captured for us as well. A lone BTR got to him - somehow survived our attacks despite us finding all of the incoming groups. We got distracted by outlying targets and didn't keep at least one set of eyes on his immediate vicinity.

Ranger, thanks. Indeed he's set on a race-track orbit at 19,000, 270 kts on a 43km course. Did you get some strange tanker behavior?

Tough balance between realism and playability for sure. Long ingresses in MP do add a bit of "investment" into the flight...you might not hold that gun run on the BMP quite as long or being lax over threat areas knowing you can't just respawn and be back in the action in 5 minutes. But, they do tend to get boring. I usually bring the phone and play Words with Friends to pass the time. :D

I find that I use the Waypoint and Flight Plan pages almost every flight. Many of the missions we fly in our squadron don't have preloaded flight plans, or they need to be changed mid-mission to respond to something or hit a tanker, and/or require responding to emergency CAS situations at given coordinates - lots of fun to be had in those types of missions, and the CDU is a must! We also often set up anchor points or IPs on the fly, another good use when flying multiplayer. Granted, that's about 5 pages of the 81...

Thanks, Druid. I'll have to take a look and see what spawns...all of the reinforcements in Nalchik are already there, just go AI-ON via triggers. Some troops spawn (activate) in the camp but sounds like you saw something else. Do you remember where/what it was? Thx.
