  1. Looking at the screenshot again, we can make out very faint X's where there are no pylons: I got my answer. The proposed solution is exactly what I would have suggested - right on!
  2. It's called forethought instead of afterthought! :)
  3. Hi Wags, Referring to your screenshot (https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3524220&postcount=60), what is the visual cue differentiating no-stores vs no-pylon? Thanks.
  4. This is probably related to a bug with the dimming. After the last patch, dimming only affects vector objects (lines) while text (fonts) are left full bright along with the colored map.
  5. Aside from calibrating once in a long while, cycle all axies their full course after each reboot. But usually, this is caused by extra controllers with useless default mappings.
  6. If you're willing to actually run both Test A and B, can't you stick with realism and wait 7 secs? I wait 10, if I bother running the tests at all (usually once per flight session, for good measure). There's a clock on the IFEI - convenient...
  7. I just contacted the KC-130 and I'm on Easy Comms. I don't think backslash (\) works. Instead, use RAlt-\ or RCtrl-\
  8. To be clear, this does not necessarily suggest you have a separate OpenBeta installation. You can convert your release-branch installation to update to OpenBeta. See: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3484337&postcount=20
  9. A few points for AAR (in DCS at least): - I don't agree with tweaking joystick curves on any aircraft except for a null zone for noisy axies and maybe the rudder for helicopters, in my case, only the Gazelle. To each his own, I guess. I know of very good real-life and/or DCS simmers who tweak and I respect that. - Pitch is more instantaneous and hence easier to correct than speed. Get your horizontal, then vertical position under control. Only then, get accustomed to moving by small distance increments: this will involve small throttle inputs in one direction, quickly followed by another input in the opposite direction so not to accelerate or decelerate indefinitely. As you close in, movement should become smaller and smaller around the "perfect" throttle position. - Don't stabilize right at the basket but rather a few feet behind. When stable, creep forward with gentle conviction and drive through the basket and come to a rest a few feet forward of the contact point. Then, keep is there! ;) Practice, observe, learn, rest, practice again. Your throttle control skills will be invaluable for carrier landings, aka traps. Good luck.
  10. Do you have anything positive and/or informative to contribute to this post? Post on the wishlist all the improvements you think are required.
  11. I got this just tonight using the latest patch. When I froze while trapping, only the hook had touched the deck so I was left hovering, immobile. Other players on the (my) server kept flying normally and could see me frozen in time. Another symptom, seemingly related, is not being able to taxi out from parking (Start Hot). I also noticed that while parked on the deck (with full burners and still immobile), if I jumped into another Hornet, it would get a jolt strong enough to shear off all three gears! A repair fixed it for me too.
  12. Even in VR, the ball is somewhat visible at 0.75 NM. Be aware that if you are too high or too low, you will never see the ball until you are very close to the carrier.
  13. After a trap, with hook still down, it's possible to taxi out of the carrier box (runway).
  14. It's a generic (any game) patch manager. OvGME is more recent.
  15. I gave that a try a could see no difference at all.
  16. Can you confirm this happened after updating from version 2.5.2.17978.385 to version 2.5.2.18144.387?
  17. FCS BIT Test switch runs the controls routine even without the DDI-FCS-BIT press. I haven't tested if the FCS-BIT actually succeeds (FCSA:Go / FCSB:Go) in this case.
  18. Press and hold FCS BIT Switch and simultaneously press and hold FCS Reset for two seconds. The controls are going to move symmetrically (10 reps) and then it will go through the regular FCS-BIT routine.
  19. RTM! C:\Programg Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Doc\DCS FA-18C Early Access Guide EN.pdf Search for 'squelch'. Basically, select/activate a radio and the squelch is right there on the UFC.
  20. Maybe I didn't explain properly: I was immobile on the carrier but the carrier itself was turning swiftly, as tight as possible, i.e. changing heading quickly. In both your cases, was the carrier moving? In a straight line or in a sharp turn?
  21. Indeed, ADF1 disables squelch on COMM1 and ADF2 on COMM2. NATOPS FLIGHT MANUAL NAVY MODEL F/A-18A/B/C/D 161353 AND UP AIRCRAFT 23.2.1.1.4 ADF Function Select Switch. The ADF function select switch has positions labeled 1, 2, and OFF. Placing the switch to the 1 position turns on power to the ADF set and indicates ADF bearing to the station selected on the comm 1 receiver-transmitter. Placing the switch to the 2 position turns on power to the ADF set and indicates ADF bearing to the station selected on the comm 2 receiver-transmitter. With the switch set to OFF, power to the ADF is removed. The ADF bearing symbol is a small circle displayed on the HSI display and indicates the ADF bearing to the station selected. Squelch is deselected when the ADF is selected. After the ADF is turned on, the SQUELCH has to be reselected.
  22. As the title says: It's impossible to refuel/rearm on a carrier (170-degree degree tight turn). The crew chief yells: "Hey! What are you doing?" even though my parking brake is set.
  23. Turning OFF right DDI also turns OFF AMPCD? Is this the expected behavior? I can't see why these would be linked.
  24. A flight partner and I both experienced the same problem: I found out that the AP baro and radar altitude modes won't engage (or rather disengage immediately) when the pitch (and maybe roll) joystick input is not absolutely zero (0). I fixed that by putting a deadzone of 4 on my Warthog's pitch axis. This value may of course vary with the quality or construction of your stick.
  25. Yes, the trim is slow and deliberate. Just make sure you properly (2-button simultaneous press required) run the FCS BIT which, if forgotten, will make it feel like you' re fighting the aircraft while flying. [This made my first trap a DQ, although non-lethal ]
