Good idea. But why not use the built-in Track to AVI converter, then?
-
Hi. What do you mean by "loop"? If you want to rewind/play-in-reverse/go back in time, there's no such feature. If you want to play the same track over and over automatically (play in a loop), say to put a public display at a kiosk (booth), There might be some solution via LUA programming, but I wouldn't know. Good luck.

1) Find the phone number for your Internet Service Provider's Technical Support or Customer Assistance. 2) Call your Internet Service Provider. 3) Ask them to assist you in forwarding port 10308 for both TCP and UDP, so you can play multiplayer games online. They should know what you want.
-
When you configure, make sure to select either "Ka-50 Real" or "Ka-50 Game", depending on which you use.
-
I'm sure you selected Internet... Forward port 10308 for both TCP and UDP. You can access you modem/router setup via address 192.168.2.1 (or similar 192.168.y.z) in Internet Explorer. If you don't know how to do this, contact you ISP's tech support. Your clients will have to connect to your external IP address (automatic via the server browser - not manual entry). When you create your server you will only see local addresses (192.168.*.*). If there are multiple, select the one that matches the first three numbers of your router/modem's IP: 192.168.y.*

There no problem in trimming with the rudder off-center. It's only a problem if one forgets to recenter the pedals as one should do with the cyclic.

Black Shark and Thrustmaster Cougar
Jack McCoy replied to Conuk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Congrats on getting the Cougar, Conuk. As bad as you want it, please do not plug your Cougar right when you get it. Read the setup instructions at Cougar World. Once done, I suggest you first use it in "Windows"/"DirectX" mode - not programmed mode. It is sufficent for Black Shark and a lot less complicated. Good luck. -
Oh! But you should! Upon releasing the lever (F), it sets the altitude (baro or radar from a right-panel switch, near Flight Director) at which the autopilot Altitude Hold channel will try to maintain. Similar to auto-hover, altitude hold works better (less oscillation) when your altitude is stable in trim.

joystick and throttle physical position

He means the hardware throttle quadrant, like it says on the cardboard box. -
joystick and throttle physical position
Jack McCoy replied to spike2450's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Set your stick and throttle on tables/chairs/boxes/CPU cases that are roughly the height of your seat. That's the cheapest solution, but will already add a much better feeling. -
I don't see how it's "the other way around", but yes, I should have specified it sets Alt-Hold upon releasing the lever/button, hence setting the brake.
-
Put it this way: my friend won't be buying rudder pedals. I should mention he's not a hardcore gamer, but has Cougar HOTAS and TrackIR4. The only real problem is that the pedals are not identical and the feel might be different. Also, pressing both pedals simultaneously will most likely cancel each other out, that's it. Log off this forum and go buy the simulator NOW! :pilotfly:

I'd liked to share a tip for the newby or lazy pilot. When you're trimmed at cruise speed, constant altitude, not turning and you want to slow down, just hit the auto-hover button. Like when returning to base. The helicopter will pitch up about 10 degrees and slow you down to 0 km/h - hands-off. Once at the desired speed turn off auto-hover, set desired attitude, trim. You can decelerate faster by pulling back on the stick yourself, but that defeats the purpose of "automatic slowdown". :joystick: It's not much different from just pulling back on the cyclic, but has the advantage of illustrating to new pilots how to slow down, and help any pilot maintain precise altitude more easily than slowing down manually.

Are you talking about the rotor brake, by any chance? Collective brake is the F key and is frequently used in flight, to hold the collective arm in place (my question is: with any degree of movement?) and at the same time sets the altitude to be held by the autopilot. :book:

I think Boberro/Panzertard have it right. And Boberro has the avatar right too! ;) If you edit lua files, remember, no Notepad. Enigma's dial is for the speed of the automatic horizontal scan of the Shkval If you map you Shkval control to 2 axies (horiz and vert), it pans a lot faster than the key-command. You could plug in a secondary joystick for Shkval control. Or map the Radar Cursor analog hat, if you have a Thrustmaster Cougar.

I noticed that the construction cranes in cities disappear when their base is outside the view frustum. :smartass: You can witness this after 6:20 in this nice video made by Chazz_BMS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjN45F6Xu-Y&feature=channel

I was wondering... In a steep and level turn, say 45-degree bank, is it recommended to depress the collective brake to increase collective? In a real Ka-50, does the collective brake jam the collective in place or it centers it like the cyclic trim? [EDIT: Of course, if it jams it, as I now know it does, the answer the first question is evident!]

Left handed HOTAS (please god it must exist)
Jack McCoy replied to coolts's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Playing games, yes... What if you wanted to fly a real helicopter? Would you ask for a left-handed one? I'm not trying to be annoying, but rather encourage you to try something new. Anecdote: My cousin, a left-handed golf player, walked out of a golf lesson with the pro's advice of CHANGING HIS CLUBS to RIGHT-HANDED! He did and never looked back... -
I have the 4. If I didn't have one, I'd go for the 5. 4 has very good performance; I use it fine for all switches in the virtual cockpit. 5 is only better: more precision. What's the price difference?

Black Shark and Thrustmaster Cougar
Jack McCoy replied to Conuk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have CH Prodals (joystick port) which connect in the Cougar stick, and appear to Windows as an additional axis. If you play older games which only consider the first Game Controller in Windows, the joystick port is the way to go. Or else, the USB is a better, newer-tech buy. Good for Black Shark, FSX, and other well-designed games. You could also use the Cougar's Antenna Elevation potentiometer for rudder input, as a cheaper alternative - it works *OK*. -
Black Shark and Thrustmaster Cougar
Jack McCoy replied to Conuk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I would not trade my Cougar for anything other in the PC-controller category. Even with its very noisy, worn out X axis, which I replaced a few years back. Thrustmaster will ship you replacement potentiometers for free, upon request. I now am waiting for the HS3 (Hall-effect sensors) mod from CubPilot. If you want to use it "stock", I suggest you run the Cougar Viewer to evaluate the condition of the potentiometers of the stick (X, Y) especially. Some people complain about the gimbals wearing out, causing center play, and although it's true, it never bothered me. Finally, it has so many buttons that I still have a few unassigned for Black Shark. If you get the stick, may I suggest Open Falcon 4.7? :) -
Helmet-mounted sight - When/how often do you use it?
Jack McCoy replied to Jack McCoy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yes, you can pan even during the burst. I do that, but just not with the HMS; Shkval only. -
Hi Sharkster. Just a thought: you could have the pilot look towards the camera as we often see in this type of photo. To turn the pilot head, go to F1 cockpit, adjust the heading of the line-of-sight, then hit your favorite external view. Nice work.
