Hi, In some missions the tadpole is missing/stuck in the middle: I think this was reported months ago and was closed. Is this verified bug? I am doing the same sequence as i usually do and of course INS has completed. Yet in some missions the tadpole points were is should and in others it is stuck

I hope you are right as this was the initial question - If & When... The other debate here was revolving around the reason for not implementing this yet. As some of us were trying to argue it's a matter of resources and priorities and should certainly not take that long when you ARE working on it. Hopefully if someone is working on it now it will be completed within a reasonable time. Some here however, believe there are physicists, mathematicians programmer and engineers, all working tediously to add this A-G radar feature. Fearing perhaps, that realizing this is not the case may shutter the illusion of flying.
-
That is if you conciser 15+ years in this field (software & hardware) A-G radar is another feature in this GAME. All this is a game - none of use is really flying anything here. I don't know any company who would take that long (5+ years) to add a feature to their software and still survive the market, or release so many incomplete models and still be here unless of course they are the only one... And again - I want to remind you that I do enjoy this game but this does not blind me to believe that somewhere out there, there are hordes of physicists, mathematicians programmer and engineers, all working tediously to add this A-G radar feature.
-
You are missing the point here. I do enjoy the game, it's fun & realistic and I do not regret buying it. However, I was expecting more. I think each model here should be treated as a product and if this is the case than they are all defected and the repair time is taking too long. If you had a similar, working, product you'd be buying it instead. BUT, you don't and this is why they allow themselves to sell half baked products and through promises for and A-G radar for 5 years. This is a GAME and the A-G radar is part of this GAME. It does not take so long to develop it IF you put your resources to it. It will never, ever be real nor will you be able to tell the difference from the real radar. People here are so protective as if someone is hurting their children.
-
Is the F-15 early access too? Is the F-18, Mig-29, A-10... Do they have A-G radar ?!
-
For the same reason they keep releasing new unfinished models before completing the previous ones?
-
I don't buy it - I tell you it takes less time to design the real radar - not the game version. I't not that simple but it can be accomplished if you put the time and effort in it. It should have been there if they'd put the resources. Instead they rush on delivering more incomplete models.
-
Which is not the point. The point here is that you should stop being so protective. Sometimes, an outsider, or a XXX troll as you say, may see things some guys just take for granted. I don't buy all this talk about the "engineers" working on the radar development. They don't - these are programmers. If you keep justifying them and be so sympathetic they will never deliver it. For all the money people spent on this GAME i'd expect more.
-
You are missing the point. 5 years is an unacceptable period for developing the radar program. Still it's all just code! Not real life radar. People are writing code - they are not developing a real radar, which by the way takes less than 5 years to develop.
-
Trying to bring this back to focus I will emphasis that I do enjoy DCS with all it's (many) limitations. After reading the replies here I understand that development of A-G radar had started a long time ago and that there is no predication of when it will be available. Yes it's not trivial to create a simulator but again, more than 5 years for this A-G radar is way too long.
-
Wait for how much longer...:music_whistling:
-
You are forgetting the the other sim had that A-G radar working from day One. And they only had to improve it
-
Neither of this is REAL. We are not actually flying here, are we? ED don't create the radar and there are no beams here, only zeroes and ones which, at the end of the process, are translated to color pixels on our displays. From the (not so little) experience I have with these 0/1 I can tell that 5 years is a lot of time to be working on this. Too long i should say The 'other' simulator produces a very playable A-G radar and this is the important thing - it is playable! Not to mention that it is free. I'd expect ED to produce something playable and not use excused about to complexity of A-G radar since they are not creating any radars - they are creating games!

GREAT!!! looking fwd to it (again...)
-
So my question was relevant after all. The 'opinions' i heard were quire tight and there is no plan for an A-G mode after all. This is REALLY disappointing it true.
-
So it's a good think I asked this here. And it's very encouraging to now it will be available. looking fwd to it...
-
Yes, as i said i'm new... I spoke with several members, and they were all very very skeptical regarding the A-G radar and all agreed it will take 1-2 years for the viper to be better equipped. I want to hear other opinions
-
I’m new to DCS. Had it for less than 2 months after playing the ‘other’ sim for a long time. I bought the F-16 wanting to improve graphics and try the VR and I was sure I will get a similar plane with similar functioning systems. I do enjoy it!!! However, my main disappointment is not the lack of functioning systems - it is the realization that either it will take 1-2 years to implement them or that they will never be implemented. Is it true that there are no plans to implement A-G radar modes? Does it really take so long to implement the systems and if yes than why was it ever released in such state? ($$$)

I tried it with JTAG and it is working as you say. However, due to the annoying bug, the waypoint keeps moving all the time when the TGP scans for. This is not the way it should be - the waypoint should not move. As for body lasing i could not accomplish this it DCS yet.
-
Yes, i know you press uncage to initiate it but does it work? Does it really track you body laser?
-
Hi, I'd like to practice on both Laser tracking and Body Lasing. Do these work in DCS or not yet? from my experience so far, the TGP in DCS is limited. Thanks

I played one of the mission I played before. INS aligned and all was working well until something happened and from that moment the waypoints on the MFD and the real waypoints were out of sync, the waypoint diamond on the HUD was stuck in mid air. I found myself 60 miles off course in what appeared to be the right place on the HUD and MFD but way off in the actual map.
-
Yes it can. It is a lot more detailed and very helpful. However some (sadly most...) of it is not yet functional. I use BMS as well and the manual is very helpful.
-
Hi, Until yesterday i had no such problems... I started a mission and i noticed my navigation tadpole was missing. In addition in A-G mode CCRP the cue stayed in the middle of the HUD. If i switch to the TGP and try to slew it (as i did 2 days aga) it stayed in the middle of the HUD. I do remember that i did not allow for the INS to alight fully. What can show/hide the tadpole or disable/lock the target cue in place? I may have pushed something or is this a bug? When I completed the mission i reentered the cockpit and the tadpole was there again Still I want to know if this is a bug or if i mistakenly pressed something. In case this happens again I want to fix this during flight Dan

Ok, Do you think it will be implemented in the future?
