  1. Its takes a while to get used to. I got a very sore neck to begin with when I first got trackIR, and it annoyed me that the HUD wasnt straight all the time. Just keep flying and it will be natural in no time.
  2. Wags- will these notes be uploaded to the site for download? Thanks
  3. I agree with Sobek- but would go one step further. I believe head tracking is the most important peice of hardware for flight sims (as long as you have some kind of joystick obviously). I would ditch my X52 pro for a crappy old joystick before I let go of my trackIR. If I forget to start my trackIR before a game, my whole world collapses. I think it will be particularly important for the A-10 as well, especially when keeping your eyes on the target when racetracking for CAS.
  4. I know many of you would have seen this, but here is a cool A-10C HUD tape for those havent seen it. Gets the heart pumping http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szX45PdUOmo&feature=related
  5. You mean 7600 = radio failure- you dont want to mix those 2 up! :)
  6. Awesome, thats gonna save some heart ache
  7. Nah the AC130 model used in the link (U model) is called Spooky too
  8. The anticipation is almost becoming unbearable. It looks fantastic. I need to stop visiting these forums and maybe i'll stop dreaming a-10c.
  9. Check out SimHQ, there is a first look article. There has also been some info on the new thrustmaster joystick.
  10. Oh OK, the link was meant to go to one of the new A-10 pics. In all the cockpit pics we have seen so far it's presented on the right MFD. I highly reccomend the book "Vipers in the Storm" if you enjoy military aviation. Its a story of F-16s in the Gulf War. They searched with radar/ binoculars/ their eyes during the day. At night, they would work in pairs- one with pure CBUs and the other with Mavericks. Primarily they would use radar but the guy with the mavs would search/id targets using the mav head. EDIT: Perhaps you are thinking of LANTIRN, which was quite new when the Gulf War kicked off. Not many pilots were qualified in it, but it was used. Vipers in The Storm talks about this system too as the author was one of the few qualified in it.
  11. I am not quite sure what you mean by displaying on the throttle? The image is displayed on an MFD, you can see it on the right MFD here: http://www.simhq.com/_commentary/images/all_101c_015.jpg The litening pod wasnt used in the Gulf War, F-16s were just CCIPing CBUs and Mavs back in those days
  12. "The lightening pod" Can't wait, sounds incredible.
  13. Finished that book a few months ago. Its a fantastic read. Amazing how much of a beating the hog can take and fly home safely.
  14. I get a "permission denied" screen for the download?
  15. AMD Phenom GTX275 Win Vista 64 and same prob. Seems to happen after my waypoints get all mucked up. I cycle through waypoints and they all indicate 1. Swap to ILS and freeze. Happens multiplayer in the A-10
  16. I am personally anticipating this feature in DCS:A-10. It really has to be implemented as interop with a FAC is the bread and butter of A-10 conops, so it would be madness not to have it. Also, it looks like it is a feature of the Battle Simulator, so it would make sense to have it in DCS.
  17. Yeah this is a real shame, makes any kind of video editing impossible. I had a great MP mission tonight and was hoping to make a video from it. Both mine and my mates track files were quite different. Mine had me crashing about 5 mins into it and his had him crashing 2 mins into it. In mine he had a left hand engine fire 3 times that went out each time...? I thought it might have somthing to do with the randomisation, but I dont think so, as other weird stuff happened. It didnt register me shooting an Aim9 at all, and after around 2 mins all my rounds were about 50m from the targets each time I went to straff. There was even explosions coming from nothing. Looks more like some kind of sync thing.
  18. Is it? From what I understood (having only done a little reading on the net) the laser is used for data transmission rather than providing a beam for the missile to fly down, thus reducing jamming and detectability? (this is not the rangefinder obviously)
  19. Very nice, looks fantastic. I like the delay- makes you feel you are watching from another aircraft rather than watching a movie- as already stated, creates immersion. I would agree that it does feel like its delayed a little long, but at 330m/s it is probably close...
  20. Ah OK, I always thought that the Vikhr was a beam rider. Guess its unlikey that this would work then. Oh well. Thanks anyway.
  21. Thanks guys, I am only really interested in whether this function works in FC2/DCS:BS multiplayer rather than the RL application- anyone tried it?
  22. Yeah I wouldnt have thought so but thought it was worth asking...
  23. Hi, I know this is a long shot but with the new interop patch can the A-10 pick up lased targets from the Hokum with pave penny?
