  1. This is a problem that multiple modules have had for many years now, and it doesn't appear that fixes will be coming anytime soon. Luckily, in the meantime, fixes already exist for several aircraft in the form of file edits, you just have to search for them in the user files section.
  2. It seems to me that, moving away from the numbers and looking at this more qualitatively, what OP is describing is likely the point at which DCS's 'fish eye lens' effect is mitigated as you zoom in from the default. While it may be that his numbers correctly identify this point, it's probably also somewhat subjective for each person, with each of us also naturally trying to strike a balance between 1) mitigating the effect, 2) having enough of the cockpit visible on screen so that things 'look right' to us (and here obviously the size of the screen and distance from it play big roles) and 3) how comfortable we are with panning the view around accordingly if not all of the cockpit is visible on screen at one time. Another factor is that, while I would agree that the proportions and scale in the images looks good to me, it also looks as if the eye viewpoint has been pulled rearward, as now the HUD text does not seem to fit within the frame the way it does at the default eye point. I too have tried pulling the viewpoint rearward in order to get a better feeling cockpit view, but unfortunately it's very easy to run into this HUD issue, where in order to see all the text you have to constantly lean forward and move left or right--which is obviously not ideal and not how the real aircraft are designed. Lastly, it should also be noted that the numbers provided above probably only make sense for 16:9 aspect ratio monitors. I, for example, use a 32:9 monitor and am pretty sure the FOV values in the LUA files are very different.
  3. I could've sworn that I restarted DCS in some of my tests, but maybe not. Worth trying tomorrow night!
  4. Well this is very odd - I've found that, in both the MiG-29 and F-4, as I progress the mirrors resolution setting from 512, to 1024, and then to 2048 (via the options.lua), mirror image quality does dramatically increase. But if I then go back and try 512 again, and 1024 again - they seem to be 'stuck' at 2048, i.e. the image quality never goes back down. It's as if the mirror quality has somehow permanently been increased; or, alternatively, it was originally too low and has been 'corrected' by the options.lua change. Thus, I can't go back and see what my MiG-29 mirrors used to look like - they now look good no matter what. But to illustrate the difference, here's what my F-4 mirrors looked like at 512 - terrible - and then what they're 'stuck at' now - so much better. Maybe it has something to do with the high, non-standard resolution I'm using - 7680x2160?
  5. Interesting. I guess perception of mirror sharpness is probably related to game resolution; I run 7680x2160 on a 57" ultra widescreen monitor and even at 1024 the mirrors in the MiG-29 looked really jagged and blurry. But the jump to 2048 made them look almost as sharp as the rest of the cockpit for me. I wasn't aware that was possible, but it would be great if it is! Hopefully someone who knows posts here.
  6. @Kuky In the options.lua, you can set 'mirrorsResolution' to 4, which is presumably 2048 (as 3 is 1024). On my system this does dramatically improve mirror resolution; the only downside is that whenever you go into the graphics settings menu after this, it resets it to 256 ('0').
  7. No, I'm on 2D, so I guess the performance impact is different.
  8. Oh wow, I didn't even realize those options were there - you're right! What I found was the following: - Changing mirror resolution from 512 (my original setting) to 1024 didn't seem to improve the image quality much; - Checking 'mirrors every frame' did improve the refresh rate, but still felt choppy to me. If I then unchecked 'render mirrors sequentially', the refresh rate improved considerably - but I did lose 10-15% FPS. I think for me the improvement in refresh rate is worth the FPS loss. - Going into the options.lua and setting 'mirrorsResolution' to 4 (presumably 2048, larger than what can be selected in the menus), the sharpness of the image went WAY up. It looks fantastic, and at least on my system, had no resultant FPS drop. The only downside of this is that if you ever enter the graphics menu again, it resets to 256 resolution, so you then have to change the options.lua back to 4. I'm so glad I saw this thread - I had never before thought to change the mirrors resolution in the options.lua file.
  9. It's not stuttering, rather, the mirrors seem to have a hardcoded very low refresh rate, presumably to minimize the overall framerate hit that the mirrors produce. Unfortunately there's no way around this. I really wish both mirror resolution and refresh rate could be set by the player rather than hardcoded! I find the low resolution, low refresh rate mirrors very distracting and immersion breaking -- not just in the MiG-29 but across all modules.
  10. This looks outstanding! It may sound petty but just recently I had considered getting back into the F-16 after a long time away but the relatively low resolution cockpit, especially compared to say the F-4, pushed me away, as in its default state it's simply several years behind graphically. And I've been hoping that somebody would take on this project to spruce the Viper up! Can't wait to give it a try once you release it.
  11. +1 to this! I too have been around since the good old Flanker days, eagerly awaiting every new tutorial he'd put out, downloading the track file showing how -- after the obligatory "I have control" -- to seemingly effortlessly dodge SAMs and AAMs. Very much hoping that the new Fulcrum brings you back in a more active capacity!
  12. The controls indicator is in the command list, but press pressing right control plus enter doesn't do anything. Is there some other key combo that it's supposed to be, or is it not implemented yet?
  13. Just wanted to say thanks for developing this program! I got my CDU working with the A-10 last night and it's fantastic, really adds to the immersion.
  14. Edit: sold Bought new in January but only used a few hours and no longer needed. In perfect condition, and I have all original boxes and parts. This includes all the pieces of the Phoenix MIP: - 3xMFD frames - UFC - HUD control panel - 3 desk mounts As well as the PTO2 panel, with its own desk mount. This combo is $700+ new on their website. I'm selling for $600, and hoping to find someone in the MD/DC/VA area who could come pick it up rather than have to ship it, as it's 6-7 boxes and would likely be prohibitively expensive.
  15. I don't fly MP so I didn't realize some of these lua tweaks and mods cause issues, but yes, agreed, all of these elements should be customizable the way HUD elements often are in racing games like Automobilista 2.
