  1. As some of the previous answers hinted, only having a small number of slots available ( 32 ? ) and those also have to accomodate both airplanes tanks ect. very few infantry would be available to play. So in effect, they would have no impact on the battle, actually the more slots filled with infantry on the enemy side, the more likely you'r side is to win. Guess what have the greatest impact, a grunt or a Tank/airplane. As noted before, the very scale of the battlefield kind of prevent those poor grunts from ever seeing each other. This isen't really a fps game. it's a high fidelity sim, and you better laserpoint some tanks instead of hanging around dooing nothing with a m16/ak47.
  2. While it at a glance sound good, i dont think it's a nessesary element. The artillery unit shooting would in real life already have recieved any corrections from a dedicated vehicle, actually not corrections just a final number. So a click here to hit, would be quite close to what the crew of the unit have to do, they don't calculate anything themself. Ofcause there always is some uncertainties, you usually don't hit exactly spot on at first, the forward spotter will correct any errors, and when on target. the battery will fire for effect. So a perfect system would be, click on intended target, computer incorperate any wind calculations, then observe first hit, then correct any deviance. The only time where you would have to correct for wind yourself should be in direct fire against a target at close range, if a tank get into range, but then offcause movement would be the greatest factor to adjust for. And you better hit with first shot, because you'r reload time sucks. Was in a 109 battery for 3 years back in 77.
  3. Properties of DCS.EXE. does not even have to start program :) 1.1.1.1 THX All.
  4. I think HiJack spotted the problem right on. The tailwheel turning 180 when the aircraft holding still but with the stick forward. The only situation where this should happen is if a small backward movement was induced. I can understand it turning perhaps 90 degree to one side depending on torque or trim settings, but not 180 when holding still. It mean that the tailwheel is sticking forward like a motorcycle, and when forward movement starts, it will try to reset to dragging, and for a short while sticking sideway giving severe turns. <clearly needs to be look at.
  5. As i deleted the files i used to install the current version i have installed, i can not check the one i have installed. I looked trough the different screens to see if i could find the info, but either i did not look good enough or its not there. Also looked fast trough the different folders, but nothing stuck out. Should it really be so difficoult to check the installed version ? I'm obviously missing somthing here, so please direct me to the correct location. My apology if already covered elsevhere, but a fast search did not reveal it.
  6. NO, offcause not. But if one have a ipad lying around anyway, why not use it. If really make using the nav computer a breeze. I was considering buying the new gtx 680 or 690 to try a 3 monitor setup. But to expensive atm
  7. Just wanted to share my new setup and possibly give some idears to others. First few pics old setup with the cougar Hotas, I had a monitor situated to the left with exported views, and the Ipad sitting below. Nice but I really wanted the Screens to be where they was in a real A-10C. Got me a Warthog Hotas set , and A set of MFD frames (tried them first in old setup ) disabled the touchscreen software as the frames took over the function. Set the navcomp to the ipad, and set it on the right where supposed to be. if i raise the primary screen a little. and altogether a way more useable and realistic setup. The warthog hotas alone was a huge improvement with every button beeing where its supposed to be. A hint to people using exported monitor views http://bit-shift.com/a10vcfree/index.html have a free software called (A-10C VC Server) intended for ipad users. but even though you don't have a ipad, it can be used setting up and sizing the views very easy just dragging positioning and sizing then in a few seconds with the mouse. Current hardware I7-2600K OC to 4,3gh watercooled 8g ram and SSD HD Warthog Hotas, MDF frames, Ipad, secondary touchscreen. Track ir 4. Saitech rudders. MSI Nvidea 560TI twin frozer II OC. etc framerate all maxed out. about 60fps
  8. Ugly but succesful attempt. So after a few attempts using the training, i thought what the H***. Why not jump into deep water and see if i can swim. <well got bot up and down, but it was not petty, more like a miracle i suvived. Taxiing is especially fustrating, when trying to avoid using brakes to much, either not enough swing or to much. Directional problems in both start and landing, and horror absolutly no forward vision during landing. guess i got to learn the cosair carrier approach. First flight.trk
  9. I did a fast check using the method suggested, using the take off fast mission, that have 2 full wingtanks and a empty center tank. Selected as default the left tank and ran it down to 75 gal. Using parking brake high rpm manifold pressure and time compression. That gave me a slightly used left tank and an empty fuselage tank. Shifted to right tank and ran it to almost empty. I could not see any. Difference in tank meters, left or rear. I then ran the left tank dry as i could not see any difference in it's meter, hoping the added time Would help if the return pipes actually went to the fuselage tank. No difference was observed. Perhaps the circumstances beeing on the runway at high rpm does not return any fuel, or only wery little. Or it's not simulated, or implemented yet.
  10. Whats the point of using assist, when you choose the DCS brand for it's fidelity, if using assists one could just as well buy any other run off the mill ww2sim where TO is easy. I had my problems as well, for me the to run starts ok, but at some point, probably when the tail lifts, the nose begin to go everywhere. And yes i do use 5-7 degree rudder correction. So reading a bit more, i decided to use a bit of flaps, 1 or 2 notches down, and hold the tail wherl dowm and let the plane fly itself off. Funny because it's descriped as a min dist TO in the manual. Luckely it actually helped somewhat with the direction stability as the wheel rudder transition Not is feelt so heavily.
  11. Same page says that earliy D models have return pipes going to the left wing tank, and late models to the fuselage tank. Have not investigated yet wich model we have. Thx for the link for buyable copies, some may find it useful. I have own one for several years when i started flying mustangs in Aces High 2. Since shifted to DCS though.
  12. Found this searching the net for original manual p-51. www.scribd.com/doc/34811808/North-American-P-51-Mustang-Pilot-Training-Manual If already linked elsewhere, i apologise. Much of the content have already been covered if not copied into the PDF included DCS mustang manual. However i found page 22 interesting, stating, that vapor return from carburators is returned to one of the tanks, usually the center. if no room is avaiable in that tank, that is if you are using anothe tank at the beginning. vaper fuel, as much as 10 gallon pr hour will be lost. Wonder if that is simulated, people here is hardcore enough to try a 7 hour session, ( remember no autopilot ) and time compression will kill you. mrniel
  13. Although no MFD or navcomputers is present to export, I was kind of hoping that at least the Kneeboard would be exportable to a different monitor. That would not in any way spoil the sim, as a kneeboard would be visibel all the time anyway. And it seems like many have extra monitors available tat could be used for that purpose. Could contain mapinfo like now, and pages with engine manifold limits ect. Mikael
  14. The touchscreen is not to expensive, it's a LG L1510SF LCD display TFT. I offcause bought it on a local website near me, but i'm sure by searching you can find one near you or order one. I could have bought the 17 " a bit cheaper, but opted for the 15" despite it beeing more expensive, because it dosen't take up to much desktopspace compared to the 17". http://www.dustinhome.dk/pd_5010053838.aspx Reading in the manual about the TrackIr unit, it says the optimum distance is further away. Your typical distance to the screen is simply to short, if you mount it on the top of the monitor. Thats why I moved it back a bit. If dooing the same, be sure to elevate it a bit, or there will be a shadow zone when you look down. mrniel
  15. Just a fast update now most is working. Pic attached showing setup. Track Ir4 running ir5software. Mainscreen 1680x1050, main view 15" 1024x768 Touchscreen running DickDastardly software. Thrustmaster (cougar) Hotas set with pedals. fully user programmable. Logitech G15. backlighted keyboard. with programmable G-row-buttons. Laminated colour keycard. Laminated Startup/flight/shutdown procedures. DCS Printed manual. (the brick) :) so after annoying rubrecht for a week, i can finally enjoy the game. Personally, the apache release, is the one i'm longing for. as i played longbow and liked it. mrniel
  16. Ruprecht, first off all i want to thank you for your patience and helpfullness. everything you have suggested was correct, when you asked me to search for other duplicate files i presumed you meant in the Eagel Dynamics folders. as you can guess now, the problem was not my programming skills, but that i was programming the wrong file. stupid me, could have saved myself and your guys several days work. So yes I was dooing somthing wrong :) As Fakum suggested the correct file was in the virtual store subfolders, under username. A BIG thank to fakum. Attaching a pic showing result after 2 min work from arriving from work. A big hug to you guys, must visit australia soon, as it seems some really nice peop live there. already been in USA, Fakum :) A very greatful and happy mrniel
  17. addition, the comma in aspect, is corrected again
  18. Having a 1680x1050 and a 1024x768 You can define your center monitor and aspect 1680x1050 and 1,6 define your total screen area and define a shadow to the right, to set the center monitor centered. without using the PMF it would be 3728 left.center.shadow 1024+1680+1024 in this exampel the aspect would be 3,5504 height is still 1050 --------------------------------------------- Now if using the PMF I change the total with to 2704 left.main 1024+1680 and the aspect would be 2,5752 the secondary left screens ABRIS and TV is easy to move around just simpel x,y in position and size, just stay within its borders. -------------------------------------------- I offcause tried boths exampels with and without PMF just in case. though i understand only the second exampel really need it running. I reinstalled the program, and cleaned up. searched for dublicates, tried other card drivers, just in case. As i can change behavior, it's an indication that the right files is being read. I tried adjusting single lines one at the time to do a trail and error approach. anyway i'm re attaching the photos you asked for. 1st. show the card settings, note the new video driver switched the id numbers, it does not affect the result, also note the window spanning both monitors indicating that expanded desktop is active. The danish text in the lower option says, expand desktop to this monitor, and is checked. nothing i can do different here. 2nd show options screen ingame, i already assumed i had to leave alone after messing with files. the aspect refers to the main screen i assume. 3rd pic show the game running the attached files without PMF not how i understand it's supposed to be done, but again, just in case. 4th pic show the game using the files again, but with PMF running. as i understand the 2704 screen wide files is supposed to be used. so if my screensetup in windows is correct. and my attached files does not contain any errors. no dublicates is present. using notepad++ ect. I must admit im a bit confused :) Honestly i probably spend 20 hours now hunting for the cause it squash the main screen to the left. anyway attaching the files if you have time please look them trough, and say if they are wrong. obviously they in game folders are lua files your gratefull fellow flightsimmer mrniel options.txt test.txt
  19. I petty much understand the system now and how to set it up, sadly my system seems to have a will of it own. So after trying every combination i could think off, I concluded this. When setting up a primary with a secondary on left and normal phantom on the right. only the primary displays. This one is odd, and seen in the previously posted pic. when setting up primary and secondary, in a 2 config and using PhantomMonitorFix. The phantom is placing itself on the right side off the primary screen. not much of a phantom :) and thats my problem. Well you have been very helpfull, but i'm afraid no combination will solve this. as it does not behave as it supposed to do programmingwise. some hardware or other flaw is messing up any attempt i do, even though i understand the way to set it up now. Again i must thank you for your help and understanding. mrniel
  20. ["aspect"] = 2,57524, use a decimal place separator, not a comma. 2.57524 found and corrected it, no change to result. :( Your ABRIS is squashed because the height value in test.lua is 384, and should be 768. Understood, but i now know how to change that as they later on will have to be placed under the overlay from DickDastardly, no problem. Are your windows desktop resolutions the same as your game resolutions? as descriped previously, i run the windows in primary 1680x1050 and with that setting in gameoptions also, secondary is in max rez 1024x768. Are you sure you're running the phantom monitor fix properly? Not really. I unzipped the download wich gave me a PhantomMonitorFix folder. inside that there was another PhantomMonitorFix folder. pulled the inner PhantomMonitorFix folder into my desktop. inside the folder was phantomMonitorFix.exe and a subfolder called source, wich contained monitorEnum.au3 and phantomMonitorFix.au3 + PMF.ico So what i do is from desktop open the PhantomMonitorFix folder and doubelclick the phantomMonitorFix.exe wich startup an trayicon on the menubar, im supposing the program itself find the source subfolder. hope this is correct mrniel. again, im amazed how helpful you have been, much appreciated.
  21. I looked at the figures and entered them into a test file. initially the Shkval and ABRIS wad half hidden on the top left screen. But figured that if i subtracted the difference between the 2 screens i could get them into the viewable feld. also swiched them around. for the first time i have somthing running on both monitors. probably due to the phantommonitorfix But as seen on the attached pic the maim screens cockpit is squashed on the left side, almost as the phantommonitor is using the right side. ? If i could only figure out how to strech the main pics cockpit, everything would be solved. :) again i can't thank you enough for you'r kind help. attaching the files decriped. mrniel options.txt test.txt
  22. Thank you for replying so fast. And yes I read the wiki page several times. Basicly atm I'm trying to setting total with in options to. 1680+2*1050=3728 that include the phantom monitor i suspect. setting the aspect to total with / by higest vertical reselution 3728/1050 =3,55 Copying the setup from the wiki link as the vista user basic have the same setup s mine, exept he have the monitor on the right. so changing the starting loc of ABRIS and Shkval to 0. as it should be far left but at different hights. but i still get nothing or ever have on the secondary monitor. Perhaps i dont understand how i actually use windowed mode and how its set. perhaps thats the main problem. tried this http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=29510&stc=1&d=1249177616 http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=29511&stc=1&d=1249177616 but again no result again thanks for you patience :) options.txt test.txt
  23. Hello, I have read most posts and read trough hundreds of replies, in an attempt to solve my problem. Basicly it is this. Running Vista 32 fully updated GeForce 8800GT latest driver have extended the desktop over the second monitor Primary is 1680 x 1050 Secondary is 1024 x 768 touchscreen on the left secondary pulled to left on monitorsettings Have tried Full screen on and off with many different lua files. Must have spend days at this time reading how people is setting up their systems. copied and pasted with notepad++ what seemed relavant. BUT no matter what i do it's all squashed together on the primary monitor. and that is my problem. looking like 2 or 3 tall screens running on the primary, feks, Skval and ABRIS, cockpit, phantom my main interest is to get DCS-DickDastardly-inflight-2mon and touchbuddy rinning on the left side ( the touch screen ) Well the touchscreens buttons works. but the supplied files and other attempts, all result in 2 or 3 sections on the primary, and will not go to the secondary. A shame as i bought the touchscreen specific for this. and for now im reverting to the standart option and monitor files. mrniel
