  1. AFAC planes in the sim generally won't mark if their altitude is much above 10,000. You can set the orbit altitude for 10,000 but they won't always hold that altitude if SAMs start flying. Sometimes it can be a bit less of a headache to assign AFAC duties to a OH-58. The heli will stay low.
  2. Yup...gotta be pretty low to mark with the Willy Petes.
  3. Actually, the Maverick will fire with no problem in either CCIP or CCRP mode, just not after dropping a bomb with CR active.
  4. Instead of hold, set the task to Orbit.
  5. Set a flag to occur after the group or unit is dead. Then choose the advanced options for the group you have on hold. Hold > Stop Condition > IS USER (Check the box and enter the flag number you've assigned to the destroyed group or unit).
  6. It's just part of my training process. If you can become very proficient at locating, engaging, and destroying targets using dumb bombs without the benefit of a targeting pod, then once you have the pod along with PGMs you become that much more effective. I also only use my right MFCD (A-10A style) and always locate JTAC-designated targets by manually inputting the coordinates as opposed to hooking the "cake." Call me crazy, but it's just how I choose to train:) I train boxers as a profession. Sometimes I'll duct tape a fighter's hands to his waist while he works defense against another who's free to punch away. After a few sessions, take the tape off and allow the guy to block with his hands in addition to his body movement...he'll be practically untouchable.
  7. I didn't realize I could set the Mav sensor to SPI.
  8. I frequently fly without a TGP, so my common routine is to ground stabilize Mav sensor crosshairs on my target, line up my bomb reticle with the Mav reticle on my HUD, and drop bombs from about 18000 in CCIP-CR 3/9 mode. Note to remember: after dropping a drop in CR mode, the Maverick will not fire. I can only assume that this is a bug. The workaround is to switch Master Mode to CCRP, which will allow the Mavs to fire.
  9. Once Unit Dead Message to Coalition: "Target destroyed. New target..." If your target is just a random building, then place an infantry unit or such on the building and use the destruction of that unit to trigger the "Target Destroyed" message.
  10. Yup...the GBUs as well. I had a flight of four F/A-18s dropping GBU-12s on a precision strike mission. The first bomb dropped by each plane was bang on target, but the remaining bombs all missed by -almost literally- a mile.
  11. They're a great addition to the sim, for sure!
  12. I've been having this same problem! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=77400 I usually set the callsign first as well, but sometimes I can play the exact same mission several times, and sometimes I'll have the "Axeman" issue, and sometimes I won't, so I'm not entirely convinced it's an issue of proper order of assignment.
  13. ...I'm happy to be alive during an age in which we can enjoy the truly incredible experience of such a fine simulator.
  14. I haven't seen any such problems with Mavs yet, but last night I watched a pair of Su-17s launch two laser-guided Kh-25s at a couple of Abrams tanks in quick succession. Neither of the missiles reached its target.
  15. Much thanks. and I'll be sure to use plus plus from now on:thumbup:
  16. I Made the mistake of editing this file with Notepad, and now I'm getting a persistent CTD on game startup. Would anyone be so kind as to save me the headache of having to reinstall and reconfigure by hooking me up with an original copy of the bombs_table.lua file in Config/weapons??? Please?
  17. My opinion is that this patch is simply amazing. Too bad it came at the end of my 11-day vacation.
  18. I've been wishing for mortars since the beginning. Now we have 'em.
  19. I use an X52 throttle myself, but, like Shu, I use the ctrl buttons for modifiers. RCNTRL+THROTTLE for right engine...opposite for left. Works beautifully.
  20. I'm with Kaiza; Track IR.
  21. +1. Much gratitude, EtherealN.
  22. Program M by default dispenses 20 flares at a rate of 1 per second. No chaff. Personally, I prefer to keep the system in Manual mode unless I'm being painted by radar threats.
  23. Are you referring to the pave penny?
  24. I understand, Nate. The issue I'm reporting is that ground units in the Red Coalition are unable to perform FAC. The tasking option isn't even available regardless of whether it's a Bradley, Hummer, or BMP. Again, it isn't a problem as long as I fly blue, but prior to the patch FAC worked for BOTH blue and red.
  25. Ground FAC works fine, it's just that the task isn't available for red units. It was prior to the patch. It isn't a problem unless you elect to fly for the red coalition for whatever reason.
