FPS optimisation for low spec machines
rockyalexander replied to Wayc00lio's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yeah, I was wondering about the aircraft lights. I guess I'll just have to try it for myself. Thanks. -

Shez, you and I have very similar hardware (for me, a Q9300 Quad with an HD5770) but I'm getting FPS averages in the 30's. Textures: High Scenes: High Civ Traffic: Off Water: Low Visib Range: Medium Heat Blur: Off Shadows: Low Res Cockpit display: 512 MSAA: 4x HDR: Unchecked Vsync: On Cockpit Shadows: Unchecked MSSAA: Unchecked Clutter Brushes: Far Left Trees: Far left Mirrors: Unchecked. -
It worked for me, although I did change the JTAC's frequency to 131 AM.

USA ground units wont perform FAC!
rockyalexander replied to rockyalexander's topic in User Created Missions General
Actually it just doesn't work for any country in the red coalition..? I had USA in red for testing purposes. It works fine for blue countries. Still though... I suppose if one elects to fly for the red coalition they'll have to do so without ground FAC? -
What's the deal? The option won't come up in the advanced tasking list. It works for other countries but not for US..?

Well, this is what I'm running right now, with the video card updated to a 1GB HD5770, and the power supply upgraded to a 600 watt http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/gateway-fx7026/4507-3118_7-32976302.html?tag=mncolBtm;rnav. I'm looking for a good upgrade for under $1000. -

"Cool lighting strips" = Formation lights. The switch is on the lighting panel.

It was a 4-ship of A-10As loaded with Mavs and Rockeyes, assisted by a 4-ship of F-5s with Rockeyes against approximately 120 tanks, 40 Strela-1s, 40 Truck-mounted AA guns, a significant number of BMPs, four batteries of SPGs, and a full platoon of MANPADS. All members of the strike package had skill levels of Excellent. Once in the target zone, all flights dropped from an altitude of roughly 16000 ft MSL to under 4000 and began popping flares and weaving back and forth above the battlefield without firing a single shot. This went on (for a very long time) until all aircraft either took too much damage or expended too much fuel to continue operations, then RTB without firing on a target. Two aircraft from each flight were shot out of the sky by ground fire during the battle. After reinstalling the original AI files. The result was again 2 aircraft from each flight destroyed, but not before taking out 40 AA vehicles, 40 SAM vehicles, 12 SPGs, 1 tank, 1 mobile command post, and 3 trucks.

I tried this, but unfortunately it screwed up AI behavior much more than it improved anything. After this mod, AI planes spend the vast majority of their time weaving all over the battlefield (still usually at unacceptably low altitude) instead of actually releasing ordinance onto ground targets. It works in terms of avoiding AA and Sams, but not for offensive engagement. Thanks for the effort though:)

Slow loading, video stutter afte 1.1.0.7
rockyalexander replied to shelt's topic in Bugs and Problems
After a reinstall of .6 integrated and patching to .7 I'm seeing a significant improvement in smoothness overall. The weapons impact pause is gone. Still getting the occasional lengthy pause when switching on the TGP but I suppose that's to be expected. I'm blown away (no pun intended) by the latest patch. Thanks for all the hard work, ED! -

No mention of MP datalink fixes in 1.1.0.7 changelog?

We didn't have any boots on the ground in Kosovo, but A-10s certainly played a role in that campaign. Which plane is the most likely to fly a CSAR mission absent the Warthog?

Still getting ugly flickers on destroyed objects, especially the black burned areas around destroyed buildings:(

I'm using a Q9300. Definitely cannot run well on max settings, but get acceptable frame rates and good-looking graphics with Textures and Scenes on High, Water and Shadows Low, Heat Blur and Civ Traffic Off, Visibility Med, and MSAA 4x. Cockpit Rez is 512.

I thought that "fly 283 for 5" is an instruction to turn to heading 283 and fly that course for 5 nautical miles. Which one is correct???

Works well enough for me.

Does this patch reset controller input settings?
