  1. Hello. Just wondering has a profile for FC3 Su-27 for the Thrustmaster Warthog that they'd be willing to share? Into realism, so max realistic operation desired. Thank you in anticipation. Apoll:)
  2. Solved I think. See above post. ThZnks to those who replied. Apoll
  3. Hello. I have been having real problems with my Warthog, and indeed my MFDs after a major computer update. I now seem to have solved them, with the help of Thrustmaster Technical Department. I want to outline what worked for me so any other poor bugger having the same problems has a head start in solving them. The Problem. I upgraded to an Asus x99 Deluxe motherboard and SLI 980s ect. I also went from Win 7 to Win 8.1 64 bit. As you may know, the new motherboard had predominantly USB 3 slots, and as you probably won't know, Win 8.1 introduced a new way of managing power to these USB ports. Both facts are relevant, as it turned out. The Symptoms. The computer suddenly became unstable when it booted up with the USB peripherals attached. In particular, Win would not recognise my Warthog joystick: it was listed as a 'Bootloader', and to make matters worse, when I tried to update the firmware, it would not load, and consistently failed at step 2 with the error message of 0x0000000c. I ended up with both my joystick and throttle without any firmware at all, and always being listed as Bootloader when I attached the cables into the USB slots. So..unstable computer that hung randomly on loading, and Warthog throttle and joystick not working. What I Tried. I first unloaded everything to do with the Warthog, re downloaded all the latest drivers and tried to reload drivers. No good; did not work. Then I followed the Thrustmaster advice on their website to 'wake up' Bootloader joysticks. I followed the instructions to the letter; this did NOT work, no matter how many times I followed it. Next, I tried setting up the Warthog on a seperate, older machine, with only USB 2 ports. No good. Did not work either; the firmware update kept failing at step 2 with error 0x0000000c. I was in despair. What Finally Worked For Me. I sent an email, in my despair, to TM support. In the meantime, I trawled the web. There was ONE post on the SimHQ website, just one, about a guy complaining about Win nit booting properly with a Warthog attached. The solution was to go into the BIOS to disable something called xHCI mode in the USB configuration settings. The guy disabled the xHCI mode and it sorted the problem. Upon doing research, I discovered that Intel xHCI controlled the USB ports: xHCI equalled having the USB ports active. Turn it off, and the ports reverted to USB 2. So the problem had something to do with peripherals, especially the Warthog HOTAS, being plugged into this Intel controlled xHCI USB 3 ports. Something was not gelling. So what I tried was to turn off in my BIOS the xHCI mode, then reloaded the Warthog drivers, following the prompts, and IT ALL WORKED! Especially, the firmware updated with no problems. My HOTAS was with firmware again, and recognised by the computer again, and working. I then turned the xHCI back to enabled again, and the settings stayed, and the HOTAS was still ok. I might point out here that I had it plugged into USB 3 ports; putting it into the USB 2 ports did not help when it was playing up. The second thing I did related to the way Win 8.1 managed the power settings of the USB ports. There was a work around in the TM message to me that dealt with apparent problems that this new power management arrangemnet of the USB ports that Win 8.1 used. Microsoft has acknowledged that the way Win 8.1 manages the ports has caused lots of compatibility y problems with USB devices. Apparently, the new power arrangement turns power off to the device when Windows thinks it is sleeping or not active. This causes problems, loading, disconnecting and reloading devices to the computer seemingly randomly. It was particularly evident when I attached the TM MFDs. They flicked on and off constantly, flashing lights and causing the computer to bleep constantly, and generally have a heart attack. What I did was to go into device manager, and located the HID device of game controller, click on it, go to device details and find the device path in the registry. I copied the HID/PID unique numerical line, opened Regedit, found the appropriate line under Current, System, Enum, USB, and then TURNED OFF a thing called EnhancedPowerManagement by setting the string entry to 0. This stopped Windows from managing the power of devices attached through the problematic USB ports. Microsoft has a detailed set of instructions on their site to specifically allow people to use this workaround to deal with problematic USB devices. It absolutely worked; the computer became more stable and the MFDs stopped disconnecting, and now behave themselves. I have yet to get to the bottom of the Intel xHCI thingy, but there is a problem I think with the way it relates on newer motherboards and legacy USB devices, which is what all of us have. Conclusion. What did I learn? The way Win 8.1 mangers power to the USB ports, especially USB 3 ports, is problematic and causes problems with devices, such as Warthog joysticks and throttles and MFDs. (Btw, it also caused issues with my Saitek combat flight pedals.) the way to fix it was to turn off in Registry by Regedit this enhanced power management. I also switched the BIOS setting of USB configuration of Intel xHCI to Enabled from AutoSmart...after I had disabled it to fix the Warthog (which did the trick). Any instability, and I will play around with the xHCI setting in the BIOS. Hope this is/will be helpful to users in the future. Happy to expand on anything I wrote here. Apoll
  4. Ok Vullcan. I'll try that and see what happens. If I can ever get a response from Thrustmaster, that would be a start. Thanks for your replies, much appreciated. Apoll
  5. Thanks, but did all of the above. The Asus x99 has majority of usb 3 ports; tried everyone in the back, including the two usb 2 ports. I have also tried an older computer, seperate from my main one. No good; joystick is seen as a Bootloader', whatever that is, and it fails at stp 2. No good. Other ideas? Please help if you can... Apoll
  6. Can anyone please help me. My Warthog just became a very expensive brick. I upgraded to an Asus x99-deluxe motherboard and sli 980s, downloaded the latest drivers from the Thrustmaster website...connected the joystick and throttle set the appropriate time, and then tried to update the firmware. Big mistake. It failed at step 2, with the big red cross and the error code of 0x0000000c. Now, the system won't recognise the joystick, saying it is a 'bootloader' and consistently failing to update the firmware. I have done everything: followed the advice from the Thrustmaster website to 'wake up' sleeping joysticks from bootloader, but that consistently dud not work. I took the stick apart looking for a detached wire; all appeared in order. I tried to set up the stick on a seperate machine to no avail. It still would not update the firmware, continuing to fail at step 2. In desperation, I searched the Internet; none of the solutions to date have worked for me. I gave finally Seng an email to Trustmaster support, hoping against hope they actually are helpful. Nothing do far after three days. Can anyone help a desperate simmer?? The Warthog us too expensive for us to be a brick and not being used! What can I do? How can I get it working again? What is error code 0x0000000c? Please help me... Apoll:(
  7. PS...further to my last....it is the STICK that the computer cannot see, and insists on placing as a bootloader...
  8. I am yet another poor sod whose Warthog just became a brick! Serial 04242...worked perfectly up until a major computer upgrade I just did: got an Asus X-99 Deluxe...GTX 980s in SLI...etc...and wham! Tried to connect Warthog and Win 8.1 saw the throttle only as a bootloader...the familiar story...tried to update firmware...and failed at step two always with the dreaded 0x0000000c error. Have sent an email to Thrustmaster...have tried to set up stick on a separate, USB 2 computer...to no avail...so the stick is porked. Woe is me!! Really annoyed...given this thing cost me almost $500...and although I have had it for several years now, such expensive kit should not be brought low by a crappy piece of software. What to do??? Apoll
  9. Hi. I have a Warthog HOTAS, and I'm trying to reduce the target cursor's sensitivity, as it is way too sensitive. I'm using TARGET to program the micro stick axis; using zoom, but this does not seem to work. Can someone give me an idea how to desensitise the micro stick. Thank you. Apoll :(
  10. Colleagues, trying to get into the new F-15C AFM...and am finding that I am most certainly going to need a good Warthog profile. I notice that there is one in the main page user files...three .lua files...one for the joystick, one for the Saitek rudders (which I also have), and one for the throttle. All .lua files. Trouble is...there is no exp0lanation on what earth I am supposed to do with said lua files. Where do I put them? How do I get them to be the profiled controls in the DCS Options/Controls panel? Do I use TARGET instead? I am at a loss where to start. Grateful if anyone can help me. Thank you. Apoll :(
  11. Hi. This is an amazingly realistic simulation of the A 10 from what I can see. But one pretty visible thing that is missing from my perspective, that would really increase the 'suspension of disbelief' factor, is the presence of visible vibrations in the cockpit when passing through turbulence and pulling high G maneouvers. I mean the HUD slightly, but visibly, vibrating...the instruments vibrating etc. I wonder if there is a mod out there that could simulate this effect? Or is it a hard-coded thing that only ED could implement? In any case, I think this would be amazing if someone could make that happen. Just an idea.. apoll
  12. Hi. Just a question: I'm looking for so information in the CDU perhaps about how much remaining range I have with the remaining level of fuel. Is there a CDU page...line somewhere...that provides that updated information? Want to get even more accurate re in flight planning... Thanks. apoll :)
  13. Angelatthetomb, don't get me wrong: I ain't got that much money at all. I ain't about to spalsh money round looking to buy umpteen copies of the sim just to spend. No way: don't you know we're in the middle of a slow motion financial crash! Just trying to support my hobby and ED, who have developed such a fine sim. This is a rare thing today (look at the mess Oleg and his boys produced for CoD as a case in point...and the plethora of arcade games out there.) It is not often something like the DCS series comes along...so I want to keep supporting it...put my money where my mouth is..that sort of thing. So looking forward to the Nevada update, which I'll snap up, and I'll get the tac chart as well, since I love really planning out my flights, and I didn't know such a beastie existed. apoll
  14. Ok! The tactical chart...that is something useful for DCS A10 as well? I'll get that from the ED shop so it goes to them. Thanks. apoll
  15. kylania, done that..bought them all. Long time DCS customer. I mean give me something new to buy so I can support our hobby and ED. The Nevada terrain looks great as does the combined arms capability. Just eager to continue supporting...still amazed at complexity of this sim. apoll
  16. Hey ED fellows, give me something to buy so I can support our genre and support future work on this great sim. :) Can't wait till the Nevada update and other stuff comes online to purchase. apoll
  17. No Greygoose...It certainly AIN'T like any civilian simulator. I always get bored with civilian sims because in the end, it is just about flying from point a to point b (NOT trying to start a flame war, BTW). There is so much more going on in this sim. I've actually been at it a while..just trying to reach a deeper level re the navigation...sick of just boating around the sky on a general heading. I want some more precision in my flying. I do find the mission planner in the sim and bit spare for details. People, for example, urge me to us the baro altitude to navigate for all sorts of good reasons...but the map to use in the mission planning does not have MSL height measurements on the terrain to use in planning the flight. In that respect, the sim is behind by a fairly large degree the civilian sims. I spent hours yesterday hunting down in the manul where I could get the baro height of my aircraft position at ramp start so I could set the altimeter correctly. I live and learn... a
  18. Hi. Just trying to get to grip with this sim. Grateful advice: 1) How do I get an idea of my flight plan in the cockpit, and I'm thinking here the altitude to the next waypoint? Where is the CDU page that has all the altitude to fly info? Also, in mission planning before I launch into the sim, where can I get the details of the flight plan like altitude of waypoints etc? 2) What does the ALT SCE stitch actually affect? The one that means I can switch between Baro, delta and Radar. It doesn't seem to do anything re my alt info on the HUD. Does it actually do anything? Thank you in advance. a
  19. I can get all my displays working post 1.1.10 patch...all except one: the UHF Repeater doesn't sho up. I wonder if someone could please post their working post patch 1.1.10 UHF Repeater.init file so I can use it? Thank you very much. apoll
  20. Trim AND the big lesson I got out of this experience was to always fly the plane as the number one priority. Then once you're still flying more safely, turn attention to other things. I almost pancaked ito the sea in the first 30 seconds because I forgot to concentrate on flying the plane in the first instance. apoll
  21. Bluepilot76..yea...no sign of birds...as GGTharos says, not actually seen in sim. But that explains the mystery. Bird strikes. Must lower the probability. Sure as pie gave me a start. It's a measure of how realistic they have got this thing that you actually tense up as yopu power up and hurtle down the runway. An engine failure, just for a moment, invokes a real sense of fright and Oh @#!%%!!. I had no stores...clean skin. Was dopig one of those excellent qualification hops you can download. They are brilliant. apoll out
  22. Hey...just need to share this. Lined up ready to do a qual hop...running finr up the runway...rotate..then bang! right engibe fire and I lose the engine! Pull fire extinguisher...almost pancake into the sea because I forget to fly the thing...all over the place...manage to stay airborne...I crank up the left engine to max pushing against the stops and keep it there. Still in the air. Fire is out but engine useless...just concentrate on keeping it level and in the air. Slowly gaining speed and height...come around for an emergency landing..the guy who is rating me bellows that I've failed because I broke the deck of 2000. Sheesh! Got mu hands full to worry too much about it. Line up eventually and wallow doenwards toward the deck, the HUD scale is way off to the left and I have my foot hard pressed to the left to cenytre it. Wallow into the deck...manage the speed...keep her straight and don't put the nose too high...steady..steady...touchdown! I'm on the deck and running out. Yikes! The front wheel blows and I'm careening across the runway. Keep her straight! But at least, she slows then stops. Whew! Did it. My first emergency landing. What caused the fire on takeoff? I don't know. The rating guy above me circles at 8 grand. I'll need a new bird to join him! apoll out
  23. I will be...technically an waste since I already have it...BUT... to really support them for the great job they did. And to support the genre. apoll
