  1. ""DCS changed, the weather system changed. "" Who decides which missions change and how they change?
  2. I figured out how to change the missions using the mission editor. Yes it was a dust storm causing the brown out, not fog as I had thought. I still wonder though, how did the missions change from clear weather to brown out.
  3. What I can't figure out is how/why the instant action missions were changed. I updated the DCS World main program but otherwise I didn't change or modified any files and the instant action missions for the OH-6A are stored in the saved game file, not the main program.
  4. I need help! I'm getting back into DCS after about 8 months of not using DCS- I updated DCS to the latest version, other aircraft seem to run fine, as I remembered them I loaded up the OH-6A and tried the instant action missions. When I tried, the weather was radically different than in the past. There was dense ground fog, visibility was down to maybe 50 meters when starting any of the instant actions missions I installed the latest OH-6A mod, same results. I rolled the mod back to version 1.2, same results, dense ground fog up to about 600- 1,000ft . Blue skies above the fog and I could see mountain peaks poking through the fog layer. The only OH-6A mission that had weather as I recall it from before were the training missions. Has anyone seen this before and are your Instant Action missions without the ground fog? I can't understand how this changed, I haven't modified the missions in anyway intentionally and though I haven't tried all the other modules, all that I have tried had weather as I recall from before. Anybody have any ideas as to what caused this and how I can get the Instant action missions back to normal. The OH-6 is hard enough to fly without a fog white out!
  5. Help Please! I'm trying to setup OVGME again after having to reinstall Windows and all my apps- I am getting this error message ovgme error "config for D:\Eagle DYNAMICS\DCS World already exists" I created an OVGME file to install mods that didn't change the DCS Core- it created fine and looks like it did before I had to reinstall it. I then tried to create a second OVGME for mods that change the DCS core. I have my mods separated into two folders, one for non core mods and one for core mods (core mod is Bartheks caucaus redone). I created it by pointing it to the DCS root directory and the mods to the core mod folder. everything looks as if it should work, however when I try to create it I get this error message. ovgme error "config for D:\Eagle DYNAMICS\DCS World already exists" Any idea's of what I am doing wrong?
  6. Is there a way to increase the intensity of the vibrations through a NLR HL8 haptic seat cushion I am using the HL8 connected through USB and running SSA in conjunction with Andres sound module and seat bass shakers. I have the intensity maxed but it is still weak. Using the HL8 software the intensity is much better. If I increase the bass shaker intensity the HL8 is hard to appreciate. I tried connecting via the 3.5 mm jack but I get constant vibration with or without DCS running.
  7. Figured it out if someone runs into this issue in the future. Somehow an angled default snapview was set. Go to the saved games folder, under config\view\Snapviews.lua and delete the Snapviews.lua file and restart DCS. DCS will rebuild the Snapviews.lua file using the default view angles.
  8. I tried CH-47 after the 9/30/24 update. My default cockpit view is angled down centered on the multidisplay unit. To view out through the windscreen I have to arch my head back viewing up. I am using trackIR. I tried other modules and the default cockpit view was normal, no angle, viewing straight forward through the windscreen. The view in the CH-47 is as if the camera is angled down 45 degree rather than straight forward. Anyone else having this issue?
  9. Do you think the improved visuals with the Pimax Crystal Super will be worth the increased cost when running DCS? Will DCS provide enough visual detail to take advantage of the higher resolution?
  10. I have the same issue. Bass shakers test fine in the app but no output in game. The HL8 works fine in app and in game. Trying to get the bass shakeer working by changing output from my PC, changing the relative effect levels in HL8 vs bass shaker, increasing output to bass shaker amp- no improvement but I did manage to possible damage the bass shaker amp. I cannot do any further trouble shooting until I get my amp fixed. Really disappointed that I couldn't get the bass shaker output in game similar to that in the testing effects in the app. I tried out the SimHaptic app, It was the opposite- Great Bass Shaker output but no appreciable HL8 output in game. I decided to stick with SimShaker for Aviators and the SimShaker Sound module as the effects for helicopter were better modeled in SSA than in SimHaptic. I spent a lot of time trying to get things to work. It was worth it to me, adding haptic feedback that changed based on flight parameters really added to immersion. Just knowing what the helicopter is doing based on different vibrations allows me to focus on fighting the helicopter without having to check instruments, more like flying based on feel rather than focusing on gauges. Turns out my subwoofer amp is OK- The only way I can get the bass shakers to work in game is if I set the in game speaker selection to the sound card I have the butt kicker connected tp, but then there is no sound output to my headphones or external speakers. You can enable two sets of audio outputs through windows 11 ( enabling stereo mix and specifying the second audio speaker in addition to the main speaker output) however it doesn't seem to work with DCS. Has anyone figured out how to get the butt kicker to work using the Sim Shaker audio module and still have audio output to headphones or speakers? ********************************************************************************************************************* Got It Working- I had been trying to use a usb creative sound blaster external sound card- That may have been the issue- I switched to the on board RealTek sound card. I am using Audeze Maxwell wireless headphones (they are worth the money, those and wireless TrackIr IR source ditches two cords . I added gel ear pads, now no overheated ears.) The Maxwells have a built in DAC and so function as their own sound card. I enabled stereo mix in windows and in the section of windows, system, sound, Volume Mixer under available apps ( Sim Shaker sound module may need to be open for it to show under apps) I highlighted Sim Shaker sound module and under output device I selected RealTek USB headphone. I connected the headphone jack to the subwoofer amp and from there to my bass shakers. Under the sound module app I selected the RealTek usb headphone as audio output device. Under Volume Mixer section under the DCS app I selected my headphones as the output device and now both the HL8 seat pad and the bass shaker work in game with sounds through my Maxwell headphones. Its working great!
  11. I have issue if GUI scale >1 but only notice it attempting to run instant action marianas AH-64D runway start. Other instant action on Marianas with AH-64D seem to work OK. Many hairs pulled out trying to remedy this!!! Fortunately I figured it out before using the nuclear options!! There may be other missions where this error occurs I am using 1440 resolution
  12. I was trying to figure this out myself.
  13. Another entry into force feedback is flitesim. They are releasing force feedback rudder pedals, yoke and joystick as well as numerous civilian flight sim control panels. The prices they mentioned at Flight Sim expo for the flight controls were amazing, around $100 or less. see https://flitesim.com/ EDIT: Looks like the prices for the yoke will be about a grand to 1,599. They said the price of the FFB joystick base was TBD, they hinted that it would be "competitive". Given that the Brunner is about $1,400 I guess maybe about $1,000. Too pricey imho, maybe for a commercial flight school but not for home consumer.
  14. Flitesim is also planning on releasing a line of FFB controls, yoke, pedals and joystick. Also a full line of civilian based flight control panels. From their presentation at flightsim expo 2024 the panels are going to be very attractively priced ( ie some less than $100. No mention of prices for the FFB flight controls). https://flitesim.com/ Moza is also releasing rudder pedals, throttle, joystick grip as well as the FFB base. They stated that the force generated will be 9 nM . The Moza FFB base has pre-drilled mounting holes on the base with various patterns. Looks like it will be compatible with MonsterTech, NextLevel Racing and others. The joystick mount will be compatible with Virpil, Thrustmaster as well as their own joystick grip. The grip will be configurable similar to VKB grips. WinWing looks to be discontinuing their helicopter collective. I wonder if they are planning on releasing an updated collective, something to match or exceed that offered by Virpil. If they do I wonder if we will see improvements to the Virpil collectives. Perhaps Virpil will release an upscale version similar to their alpha line of joystick grips. From what I have read the Virpil collective could be improved with better quality switches and perhaps more metal and less plastic. Looks like 2024-2025 will be a very interesting year for flight sim hardware'
  15. Could someone answer a few questions re SSA and DCS OH-58d Please? I just set up an NLR HF8, using SSA beta 2.7.12, latest DCS build. DCS is installed on D:\\ drive not the default C:\ drive, Saved game is installed on C:\ drive. I am getting some vibration through the HF8 but I wonder if I am missing some effects. I get vibration when on ground but after lifting off I don't get any vibrations until I am at risk for vortex ring state. When I increase pitch with the cyclic I hear the change in tone as the rotor blades bite but no vibration. As I accelerate or decelerate through ETL the cockpit shudders in game but no vibration from the HF8. If I come in hard triggering the airbags no vibration. If I crash no vibrations. As I land maybe, a slight vibration but not as much as I would have thought. Does this sound like I am seeing what's there to see (feel) or am I missing some vibration effects? Some problem with my configuration of SSA? Problems with my HF8 installation? Any help will be greatly appreciated!! If I select Realteus in the SSA software I get no vibration at all in game though testing the vibration in the settings software I get vibrations throught the HF8. I get more vibration in game if I leave it set to Gametrix. No matter what I do after flying missions I never can select the aircraft type. It remains showing only the generic aircraft types. ISSUE RESOLVED- I had copies of old DCS World in the saved game folder where my active DCS saved game folder was. I removed these copies of DCS. Log file showed SS4A was reading all copies of DCS. This helped but didn't solve all the issues. I uninstalled SS4A and all script files it had created (they persist in saved game script file after uninstall). I had installed HF8 software initially then uninstalled it when I couldn't get SS4A to work. It too, left orphan files in the saved game script folder. I removed that file, I ran DCS world repair then reinstalled SS4A. After doing those steps SS4A worked as it should. It is now setting up specifications for each aircraft as it is flown. Must have been some conflict
