  1. apart from new stunning 3D models for armor, are there any known improvements on gameplay (AI logic and Mission Editor for example...) ? I think they are much more important than 3D models....
  2. It looks more like a Russian AMARC
  3. very interesting... could you add more details? (even by PM, if you prefer)
  4. Great site if you're looking for Russian and former Soviet bases: http://www.russianairfields.com/refmap.htm http://www.russianairfields.com/list.htm
  5. Why on Earth do they park their aircraft this way? it seems very common in former Soviet bloc countries (Russia and WP allies).... but WHY? I wonder what could happen if someone issues a "scramble" order!
  6. this airbase houses SOME russian aircraft :O mostly Floggers and Fencers, maybe some Fitters, but a real s**tload of airplanes!
  7. The Cubans aren't that far from painting rainbow floggers.... these seem to be the remains of the Cuban AF. Ok, they have a lot of shelters to hide aircraft into, but AFAIK many units have been disbanded due to lack of funds and maintenace
  8. MORE tu-22m @ Olenogorsk!!! a lot MORE!
  9. Murmansk Unleashed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alfa, check this one ;) You know where and what to look for ;)
  10. ....and a bunch of well-stowed migs @ krasnodar center plus some lonely frogfoots and some aircraft remains, same airfield :) those migs look like cars at the car-park near the mall on Saturday afternoons! More seriously, comparing RL airbases with those in LockOn, it looks like they were a bit overmodelled, I mean, there are far fewer shelters and things like that in RL. Some bases just appear as airstrips from the satellite...
  11. Definitely.... "Su"s lineup @ krymsk
  12. here they are. if you want more details (close-ups) PM me
  13. Is it compatible with LO and Starforce? :D And is this aircraft flown by test pilots or beta testers? Just hope it's stable and bug-free... :D
  14. maybe flooded antennas on wings and fuselage. BTW, I think we're not talking about powerful jammers (usually labelled "active") like ALQ-99, it's more likely they're defensive (aka "deceptive") jammers used for self defence. I also read on that Tornado book that ECR have not full 360 degrees coverage for threat response, they can deal with radars just from the front emisphere (the F-4G instead did have 360 degrees coverage)
  15. On the book "Tornado multi role combat aircraft" by Jon Lake and Mike Crunch is written that Italy was planning an internal active ECM for ECR, but it wasn't clear if it was really implemented (the book itself was printed in year 2000.... but it's still a really great book for Tornado fans...) That internal ECM system was called in a different way, EL-553, not EL-73. The external EL-73 pictured in Gunston's book was from a early '80s photo... the EL-553 is about 20 years younger, so it makes some sense that is internal... Yet avionics and ECM are still some of the most classified compartments in aviation, one has to make a lot of assumptions and guesses... If I had this doubt before I could have asked some info to the Italian ECR pilots at Rivolto AB, on the Open Day which held in September '05. one of my pictures is attached below
  16. And telling them it costs "one million dollar" (bringin' the pinkie to the mouth) :)
  17. wonderful! do you have more HUD picture from Tornado? they're quite rare on the web...
  18. Are you sure? I read on some websites that the EL-73 is just a RHAWS. On the book "Modern Air Combat" by Bill Gunston and Mike Spick however there's a picture of a long external jamming pod called EL-73 (carried on a wing pylon coupled with the classic BOZ pod) Do you have trusty sources to sweep away my doubts? thx in advance ;)
  19. you were quicker Wolverine ;)
  20. I already know it, and I already mentioned it in my previous post cheers NATO Airbase Merzifon v1.00 third-party modification: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=7097
  21. Desert One wasn't the place where a lot of US servicemen lost their lives while trying to refuel their aircraft for a daring raid? not the best example of mobile logistics you could point out... anyway, I don't wanna start a flame around this. I was saying that I was impressed to see that most Soviet airfield equipment has wheels on the bottom... And that I'd like to see a NATO base in LO, because _usually_ NATO aircraft operate from NATO airbases, at the price of travelling for a lot more miles and doing some AAR. I thought that my request was quite easy to fulfill for ED, and I thought it was shared by the LO community... Now I see it isn't... sorry... :(
  22. Wartime is one thing, exercises and airshows are another thing. And, I was probably referring to an older timeframe, when NATO aircraft spotted above eastern europe would have meant WW3 ;) Anyway, I'm not saying NATO aircraft can't operate from non-NATO airfields. I'm just saying that it's not the usual thing, and from an aestethic POV I prefer to see an F-15 coming out of a TAB-V than from a Russian HAS. that's all! ;) And from the technical POV, I added that I doubt that an F-15 could enter a HAS which can't house a Mig-29... I read it on Lindsay Peacock (famous author also for Jane's) report about GDR/DDR airbases: http://www.xs4all.nl/~robdebie/vvs-ddr/airbases.htm
