  1. I don't see too much ricochet on that video I can see more here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soWWlXFbz1Y
  2. it just lasted a few days (found this pic on knell forum) :(
  3. just a few words... F-14, F-111, Tornado............. :D
  4. some updates The first one is "Asia minor" camo, the first and also the older camo scheme applied to the Tomcat This is the new low-viz camo scheme, but with a dark blue, I don't think it's correct: And then this should be the correct low-viz current scheme adopted by IRIAF for its F-14 fleet An overall view: Please note some things: everything's still WIP, so there are still some things to be done the skin layout of the tomcat in lockon really *sucks* and makes large use of mirrored skins, which means some things on the paint scheme can't be done like IRL. the shots were taken at a real low screen res due to the basic video card installed on the PC I'm working on. No AA, AF no effects, just the basic 3D quality and here are some sample references:
  5. great shots, and glad your warning rate finally came down to 0% ;)
  6. From September 2004.... quite some time now ;) thx I'm glad you like it, and also thanks for your advices. The problem is that I have little spare time now (it was more than one year from the last skin released), and skinning is really time-consuming! anyway thx again mate ;)
  7. Some more shots, but still work in progress ;)
  8. this skin is 2048x1024. rivets are not blurred. it's the dirt effect that was included in the template. anyway, the skin is still not finished, and it has serious issues... the whole forward part of the fuselage (the nose) has left and right skins mirrored. it's a problem because "IRIAF" is inverted on one side... the skin for the wings and tailerons is just one, meaning that a single skin (which is duplicated) provides camouflage on left/right/bottom/top parts of the wings and tailerons. This is not noticed if you paint the Tomcat all grey, but if you start camouflaging it... well this skin layout really sucks!!! Com'on ED! 50,000 polys for an APC and the F-14 is left in this shape!!! :(
  9. here it is, coupled with the F-4E ;) It's not a great skin. The 3D model of the F-14 is _OLD_, really old. The skin system too. There are stretched, overlapping, mirrored and strange parts in this skin, so it's quite hard to do something really good with camouflaged tomcats :( It also need some reworking on TGA files and/or on the F-14 CMD file, which means you can't fly both the USN and the IRIAF aircraft at the same time, because you need to delete some standard markings (US roundel, MODEX numbers, and US NAVY marking) anyway, this is my attempt, using an old template made by F l a n k e r (I think)
  10. from Jesolo airshow (Italy, a few km from Venice)
  11. It's quite finished, just need to put some more markings. as soon as it's complete I'll put it up for download
  12. a preview:
  13. 20 years ago the "global market" or just "the market" included only Western Europe, North America, Australia, and some parts of Asia (Japan, HK, and some others) Now the global market includes the whole planet (with Eastern Europe, Russia, China, India, and to some extent South America and Africa), with many more competitors and many more resources to exploit (including "human" resources, could spell also "slaves"). 3 more billions of people now are ready to produce things at much lower prices that what can be done in the old capitalist countries. Outsourcing and delocalization are the key-words, so there's nothing strange in that "western" factories and businesses close....
  14. well, the win key is useful if you use Windows as an OS. I always use shortcuts with the win key. The stupid keys imho are the ones that have been added on today's "multimedia keyboards". I have never used any multimedia key, except one time that I was trying to grab a screen shot with "Print" and I turned off the PC because the "print" key had been replaced by "Power off" key :( Plus, today it's quite impossible to find a winkey-less keyboard. I've got some old (pre-95) keyboards, they're not as good as modern keyboards...
  15. just found, it's again Satriani, "Crowd Chant"
  16. [OT] can anyone tell which song is the second one? The first one is from Joe Satriani, what about the second one?
  17. Yes. I found the link in a F4 forum... I hope that's not a problems for the "Lockoneers" in this forum :)
  18. how did they manage to land the second aircraft (the damaged one)? I don't think it had enough fuel for a divert airfield, since it tried to land half an hour after the first one crashed, so it must had been well below "bingo"
  19. http://www.strategypage.com/gallery/images/snapped_cable.wmv I know there was a topic about this thing some time ago, but I don't know if this vid has ever been posted before... anyway here it is... a real shame, bad luck and one of these rare beauties plunges into the sea... a sad end!
  20. My initial post about the English-written logo, was not necessarily pointing at a propaganda-move by Israel. Instead I meant that those fighters of the West (i.e. Hezbollah) would be quite ludicrous if they weren't very serious at killing people.... that is, they say to fight against West, against Israel, against capitalist globalization, and then what they do? They write their own logo translated in enemy's language... it's quite nonsense, especially if applied to a drone, which, by definition, should go undetected to report info on the battlefield. Then, it may also be Israeli propaganda, but, who knows? we may just make our own guess....
  21. The only funny thing in this story (in a situation where nothing is funny, because it's real war out there!) is that the enemies of the "West", of the "Capitalists" and "Zionists", have their own "brand" (it's not just an insignia) and it's also translated in "enemy" 's language. If they weren't killing people that'd be quite ludicrous. why putting a "islamic resistance" logo on a drone which should slip undetected over Israeli skies? please no flame, I've just expressed a personal opinion...
  22. it does model the Tomcat, and that's already a great thing for a flight sim! it seems a bit cartoonish (aircraft as low as one feet ASL, jet exhaust deflectors too close to the aircraft on the cat...) but it has good ideas
  23. today I was getting back home after sunbathing on the beach, when a strange bird came over the horizon... usually are police copters, or those of the hospitals or those of the firemen... they overfly the beach for surveillance or training purposes.... well this was really strange, so I took my camera off the bag (luckily this time I brought my reflex and not the old compact camera) and i got it! I really couldn't believe... it was an A-129 Mangusta, the Italian attack copter, "our cheaper Apache", yet it's said to be quite powerful... It was unarmed, except for the front cannon (dunno if it was loaded!), well.... it was just overflying a beach resort! The shots aren't that much, but I think they show enough... well it was evening, little light available and I really wasn't prepared to catch this one! Anyway enjoy!
  24. BTW, longer missions due to refuel/rearm, would obviously need flying toilets and fast foods... :)
