And to everyone else, I am using ref.drawing su-27-4 in from the files chizh has just posted. Also please refere to posts # 51 and #60. that is my case.
-
You don't read the replies, you only want to support your claim.!! this has been handled in posts #66 #67. Pls read before posting. Thats my advise to you.

:) I can see that you guys are still debating the issue. In respect to the time you must have invested in superimposing and comparing, I find myself obliged to reply , eventhough I hope that this would really conclude this issue: 1- Nothing is wrong about saying this as a criticism. 2- Like models differ in quality, blueprints do as well. In fact when I started this project, I used the very same blueprint that you've used in your comparison. At that time Chizh has commented on the "humb" and I was confused why, since the model matched the blueprint perfectly( postings are still there in ubi forum, skinning section). He sent me a more accurate set of blueprints, and I had to restart over from the beginning. I can confidently tell you that the model does match those blueprints Im using right now. I would have attached side, top, bottom, front, and rear views of those blueprints, but not wanting to drag too much on this subject,I decided to postbone that. Thank you for your keenness

I wouldn't have said that better. My post was indeed against a blue print with a perfect side view. But since pple still like to compare against real photos, Teka, you cannot superimpose a side view ove perspective. However, I've searched through the hundreds of shots and found one that could be very much considered a perfect side view. It is still an approximation, but gives a very good idea. Picture attached. nb. When I superimposed the 2 images, I noticed that the nose tip probe of the real thing is slanted downwards, not to the same degree of the blue print. Anyhow, I would highly appreciate it if we conclude the discussion about this matter with this post. There are many things else to be done. Upon final release we can go through it inch by inch. promise. Thank you

Ok. notes taken. The best I can do now is to post the picture attached. It shows the model in a "seethrough" mode superimposed to the reference drawings Im using(from a Russian source),with a closeup to the nose section. Now if after scrutinizing the photo you discover that at a given point it deviates 1 or 2 mm from the contour of the drawing, I won't consider that a "SERIOUS GEOMETRY PROBLEM"! Now back to finishing off that Nose gear.

Why don't you try to be more specific? if you really know what ur talkin about.

Working on NoseGear Assembly. Sorry for not updating sooner. Was quite busy. I can see that you've posted many remarks re. details. Well, The most difficult decision for me is choosing what parts to model "fine" and what to model "coarse". I know I will exceed the 50,000 poly. quota by 10-20% but not more than that. to SK. Thank you for that superb model pics you posted, But I bet that the Nose Gear alone is almost 50,000 polys if not more.Add to that 2 main gears, and you will get a enourmous FPS hit when in Landing configuration. Not mentioning the possibility of your wingman landing with you at highest LOD. Also, do not worry much about the canopy glass color tint or transparency, these are easy to modify. Re. posting more screenshots(ingame), I have many, but all taken from the same session, there would be no "update" value to it( besides, the other side is not properly textured ;) ). Attached is what Im working on right now:

Hello mates. Just a quick note: 1- I do value all your remarks/input. 2- this is Work In Progress. Not a single part is considered 100% finished yet. Rest assured that the final release will be flawless ( to the best of my ability). 3- Yes, the star on the fin is a little it skewed. This is a skinning problem not modeling( and if it is, I will correct it). Maybe you should know that this is a "photoreal" skin. Taken from many many real life photos, ALL in perspective, and i have to cut them, "flaten them" and stitch them.try the skin then correct for the visible mistakes. Not mentioning ,ofcourse, that no 2 pictures come in the same color tone...etc. will take sometime, but the result will be stunning. 4- and finally, those images are screen shots which have been resized and annotated, and then further compressed by more than 50% for web browsing. The original ones on my HD look better. Thank you

Just make sure your Alpha channel for the texture file is NOT black. Your alpha channel should be White. -

SK Google for mdl2dx4 its a free utility to convert fs .mdl into .dfx Please note that those utilities are not 100% successful. many ouput files get corrupted in the process, depends on how they were created , Gmax or a different software. and don't waste your time looking for .lom to whatever, I've been searching for that for almost 2 yrs ;) -

Don't search any longer. the Fs9 models are .mdl. While Microsoft released Gmax plugin to export models to .mdl format, you can not import them back.Same with Ed Plugin, one way. You can export your work but you cannot import other people's. Thats their argument. Although for .mdl, there is an indirect long way to import them back to max, with a high % of success. -

I managed to animate the right stabilizer but not correctly. So please..chizh, can you provide more data on how to correctly do it? I need to know: 1- Over how many frames should the complete movement be performed, I tried 100. 2- The complete parts name list. I named it STABILIZATOR_R since i found that in one of the shape/ or .skin files (using Hextreme). Appreciate your support on this

StrikeMax replied to StrikeMax's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thank you EvilBivol-1 for the quick assistance. Pilotasso..I still need the Parts Tag names to be able to animate moving surfacees. Maybe someone from ED team could publish that, plus a quick example of animating any single surface. Back to modeling any way ,) -
This is a screen shot for LOMUtils for 3ds Can some one translate that? https://www.sharemation.com/strikemax/public/pics/lomutr.jpg?uniq=9icbtg Thanks

How's Strikemax's Su-27 model?
StrikeMax replied to Omega Oska's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hi To Omega and KungFU, NO I did not experiment with animation at this stage. will not try it til the model is finished. Re the super high model, yes im thinking of that. It will be for movie creation mostly. the idea is to record the track flying a normal model. then load the super high poly one just before movie creation. Of course the AVI exporter would by ideal since it exports a frame by frame basis, so highst graphics settings and hi poly model are ok. lets wait and see ;) -
It actually askes you if you want to smooth the surface while exporting. uncheck it. its written in the readme;)

Yes mate. As I said earlier I've been wishing for this plugin for long time. Now I have the motive and I will finish it. I know what ur talking about, a lot of guess work. The most important thing for you to know is that for some flyables there are NO FILES TO REPLACE!. Just creat your .lom file and put it in the shapes directory. You have to name your file after the "Master" .cmd file of the flyable. For ex. for the su-27 the major .cmd file is su-27.cmd so I simply created su-27.lom abd added it to the folder. That took me a while to figure out;)
