  1. Im a little lost. Would this mumble application allow me to manually tune the radios in the A-10, and talk to whoever is on that specific frequency? That is what we all really want here, isnt it? And I agree, If this means pushing the release date further back, id rather ED just not do it all together OR release it in a patch. Whatever they decide im sure will make everyone happy.
  2. oh ya haha, I forgot this sim is going to be made to ANG standards haha. This sim is going to mean a lot of missed homework and even more laziness.
  3. Does ED plan on advertising for the A-10C Warthog? I feel that it has a lot of potential, but very little recognition.
  4. They already confirmed the 64 bit in a thread made about a week ago. If someone could find it (because my lazy arse doesnt feel like it, haha) that would be great. EDIT - Here I found it. Confirmed by Matt himself http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=55227
  5. Awesome. I cant believe we are getting such an accurately modeled avionics and hopefully a very accurate flight model (but then again, unless we give it to a A-10 pilot, we will never know if it is accurate or not). I used to think the Aerosoft F-16 was amazingly accurate.
  6. True. Maybe the cross is just there for debriefing purposes.
  7. yes but the cross is quicker to just glance for those of use who havent memorized the headings. Lets see, north is 360/000, east is 090, south is 180, and I always forget west. I think its 270, if im not mistaken. Either way, if its not in the real hog, i dont want it. If it is, i want it lol.
  8. I hope that cross is in dcs. Better yet, I hope it is displayed somewhere on the HUD, it is very useful
  9. Interesting. Considering that the version we are getting is similar to the one the ANG is getting, im sure it will all be simulated to a tee.
  10. Yep. Better yet, the 64 bit version will help with this even more im sure.
  11. This is a good point. What you describe is similar to what happens in this video. Except in this video, he can see friendly armor, not sure about enemy armor. How does the pilot know how far west of the smoke the JTAC wants the fire?
  12. You need to take into consideration the fact that the infantry on the ground is moving around, popping in and out of cover, shooting their small arms, creating muzzle flash, as well as possibly throwing grenades, giving you an idea of the vicinity they are in. They are NOT stationary targets as they appear in FC2. Also, in FC2, with graphics turned high, you are correct, when they are in the middle of hundreds of trees, it is nearly impossible to spot them. In a place such as Afghanistan though, there are not to many trees and brush, mostly compounds of buildings to hide behind. Then again, the A-10C is used in more than just the middle east, so the argument can go both ways.
  13. Ha ya I think I will give it a try. One quick thing though. The image size limit seems a bit small. Is there any chance ED or its moderators can maybe rethink that limit and consider increasing it? I mean, if people start abusing by posting big pictures of not so appropriate things, then I can understand the limit. But this community seems responsible enough. Of course, there may be other reasons for the limitation that I am not aware of, so I dont want to come off sounding ignorant.
  14. Quick question, how did you even get on the testing team? Im assuming they asked you, but were you once a pilot for somed armed force, or are you good at programming, or do you just share the love of a great sim like the rest of us?
  15. I thought it might be wise of DCS and TFC to make signature banners, similar to how VRS did theirs. Example in the link below (look at the OP's signature). http://forums.vrsimulations.com/forums/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3953 I thought it may help boost sales, and spread the general joy of the DCS series to more people. Also, it would just be cool to have. Maybe have one saying something like "If at first you dont succeed, call in the 'hogs.". Cheesy I guess, but its just an example. Also note that if you click on the banner it takes you to the VRS homepage. Also, note how he got his banner by purchasing the actual product. I thought that was a good idea too. I know how busy you guys are on finishing the actual product, but if you have time, it would be much appreciated. I would gladly wear it around other forums I use!
  16. not to be off topic, but I do not think the taliban would "gouge out your eyeballs". I have heard of them doing beheadings and the like, but I think that even they have SOME decency lol.
  17. Will 64 bit mean that the DCS A-10C will utilize all 4 of my cores?
  18. I havent played blackshark, but I know in FC2 it was very hard to see infantry unless you were like .1 miles away. In the real A-10, it couldnt be THAT hard to see. In the game they look all pixelated, its not like that in real life. Maybe DCS can make better infantry models. Wags already told us about the Awesome radio system they will have, so this new DCS is gonna be so sick. A-10C is my favorite aircraft besides the F-16C. Wow, I just realized this. A DCS F-16C would be AMAZING. Perfectly modeled cockpit, flying 500 feet above the treetops at 500 knots...perfect.
  19. It would be cool to do some REAL CAS. Im talking about like you fly out there, and you can see small arms fire, and maybe a few grenade explosions, coming from, lets say, the south and north side of the lake. You can actually see the humans on the ground (unlike in FC2 where it is nearly impossible.) Over the radio friendlies would yell "Keep your fire NORTH of the river!, with gun fire in the background of the radio). You look to the north of the river, see the targets, and engage with GAU-8 30mm cannon. Also, will the GAU-8 actually kick up a fair amount of dirt, unlike in FC2? I hated that it didnt considering the bullets are the size of coke bottles. I really hope DCS doesnt have the silly looking tracer rounds like in FC2. That annoyed me a lot to. This is all my opinion of course.
  20. thats exactly what I envision. Even FSX has live ATC programs, I forget what its called but you can google it. Its a major program that many people use. You get in your jet, tune into the frequency of lets say, nellis departure, and request whatever it is you want to do. The ATC controller is given a special program by the company that made the live ATC program that allows him to see all the jets on a radar. Even the transponder works. here i decided to find it. its called vatsim. I used to use it in my FSX days it provided many fun times. I remember I was in an FA18 and there were like 5 guys behind me waiting to takeoff because some moron kept on making go arounds. one of the guys on my frequency was like why doesnt that hornet go shoot it down lol. anyways here a video.
  21. wtf its $150! Thats insane! Just because natural point has monopoly on the head track market they think they can jack up the price 15 times what it should be. I bet the total cost for them to manufacture one unit is around $15...
  22. IVC would make it more realistic. Especially for live ATC. By IVC I mean you tune into a frequency using the jet, not just some in game talking app.
  23. I have yet to buy a track ir. I hear from everyone how amazing it is, and that they cannot fly without it. I have been using the tophat on my X52 for head movement. Do you think the DCS A-10C will make great use of trackir? Also, when I buy track ir, do I need to wear a hat? Can I hook it onto my headset without buying that stupid expensive attachment.
  24. I honestly dont think it is all that early in the development process. They already got developer notes out.
