Well...sorry for my "grumpy" mood. Im just tired and i need to go to bed. But first i want this to be installed the right way so i can install FC2.0 tomorrow as soon as it arrives... I have been able to start my system again (safe modus ect ect). I have de-installed Lock on and FC. I reinstalled Lock on. Restarted my system, started it up and that was ok. Next i DL a startforce update from the starforce site. I installed FC, patched it to 1.12B and restarted my system. After the restart i startup FC. At the protection screen i choose "no" for the reboot and i executed the startforce update. After it finished it said the driver was updated. I started up FC and this time i choose "yes"for the reboot. After the reboot a pop up came from windows with the message that the current starforce driver is not compatible with this OS = windows 7 64 bit. Im going crazy here!!!! The last time (half a year ago) i remember installing Lock on and FC without any problems...what do i miss? **UPDATE** The windows baloon doesn't show up anymore. Instead i receive the starforce screen asking for a reboot, which i do everytime without any succes. I have removed the starforce driver and i reinstalled the driver without result... Well...im going to bed. Tomorrow i receive Fc2.0 and i do hope that wont give me these problems. "Bleh"...just wanted to fly another mission this eve. Im just angry because i have a legal copy bought at Simware...and now it doenst work. 'Talk to you guys tomorrow. sorry for my tone, please dont take it personally.

1) I did, using the windows 7 backup program. But i can't restore my backup for reason X... 2) I have always used ANTIVIR free and updated it daily. I also had Ad aware free version. As firewall i use comodo. My system is well protected. 3) I had restore points. As said earlier, i tried everything but none helped me. The only reason i can think of is the port forwarding of my router to enjoy MP through steam.

Hi, Last week somebody hacked my system. I dont know how he did it but he just took over my mouse... I tried everything but there was only 1 remedy: fresh install of windows 7. So i did. The last few days i have been buzy setting up my system, reinstalling all Steam games and other games which took me about 2 a 3 days. FS9 with all add ons took me over a day... I ordered LO FM 2.0 which will arrive tomorrow by mail (i hope so). So this evening i installed Lock on and right after that Lock On FC. While i was into a mood for flying i started up LO FC....and then it happend. After the starforce confirmation screen, my PC restarted and went directly into the file recovery mode. The nasty thing is, its in a loop! It cant recover my files and it wont startup anymore. Now i remember there was a problem with Starforce and...windows 7(?) i cant recall it anymore. I know that i DL a file from the Starforce site with was a patch for this problem. Im not happy because i have to reinstall windows 7 again....!!!! with all steam apps, Fs9...makes me very tired. So...what ever DCS or ED brings in the future make SURE(!!!) you have a qualified anti piracy system that will work in every(!!) circumstance. I hate this kind of SH*T!!

Thanks for the answer! The I7-970 and the I7-860 have a total different architecture. Will that also count when it comes to frames? I rekon that a i70860 oc'ed to 3,4 will be slower than a stock I7-970...or is the difference nihil
-
Haha...after i wrote the post i looked at a hardware site and indeed, the I7-980 is released. I was out of date:D
-
Hi, For A-10 a I7-970 is recommended. Not because of the core amount but as the 970 is the fastest CPU right now. Before my i7-860 (which i can OC to 4,0 with a Prolimatech Megahalems) i use to have a E6600. That CPU runs stock on 2,4. I was able to stable oc it to 3,4 but it got hot. So back to the CPU power required for A-10. If i am able to OC my I7-860 to 4,0, A-10 must run very fluid. But my E6600 would also do the trick when oc-ed to 3,4... Why is a I7-970 recommended?

Reccomendations for new headset/mic
Funkyjazz replied to shackman's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Dont know if this has been mentioned yet... You should be aware of the difference between jack headsets and the USB headsets. With a USB headset you cant switch "on the fly" from speakers to headset and visa versa while in game. A USB headset has a internal SB device. So if you are in the game and you plug in you USB headset you wont hear anything. First you have to close down the app, plug in the USB headset, start up the APP and then you are okay. The same with unplugging your USB headset to have sound over your speakers: first close the app, unplugg the USB, restart the app and sound is over the speakers. This happens because windows can only handle 1 soundsource. That is the only reason i dont use a USB headset. -

Problem with Warthog Throttle
Funkyjazz replied to Jg2001_Rasputin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi, I would like to know how big this problem is. Is it hardware, driver problem, USB problem? I want to buy the WT but only(!) if the basic construction is made of high quality. If this is a manufactures fault im not going to buy it because of the high price. TM does not have a forum (i dont know why but i can think of a reason) were i can follow WT problems... -
Hi, If i buy DCS BS at steam and later on DCS a-10 as hardcopy, as a non steam installation (allthough we dont know that yet). If there is gonna be compatibilty between those games trough MP, will that be a problem?
-
Hi, Men...everytime i see pics of the WT im allmost runnning to the store to buy it! But the price makes it so hard to decide. Its a product that requires serious sim quality time, which i cannot garantee for myself due to my work. Also the steep learning curve of the A-10 requires a lot of persistence... So to even the odds im thinking about going for the Saitek X52 pro. Its half the price but probably also half the quality. I always use to say: a cheap buy is an expensive one. Nope...you cant make the decision for me, ive gotta do it myself. Pffff...men and their gadgets, its never good enough isnt it:cry:

Okay...then its allowed:D. Have a great trip and see you back in the sky:pilotfly:

Diveplane, I have listened to your YT vids of the A-10 and the F-15. The A-10 sound is much better that the default allthough i hear a "tincan" sound, like if it is flying trough a metal tube...As for me it doenst sound like its finished. The F-15 sound is just awsome!! Great work there mate! The raw thunder and screaming is all there! Keep on doing the great work!!

Further development Hi, At YT i saw an easteregg movie of a guy ejecting, walking around his craft towards an jeep en ridding with that jeep... That brought me into my fantasy world... It would be nice if the mission would start in a briefing room. From their you drive your jeep to the hangar. You enter the hangar trough a small door. And there she is underneath very bright hangar lights...waiting to get punished. You walk around the craft and push the button to release the ladder and climb in the cockpit, all from 1st person view. As soon as you take your seat, the hangar doors roll open en a towtruck tows you to the outside. A marshall contact you trough the radio to begin the startup procedure and hands you over to the tower. From that point on, rock and roll starts...:pilotfly: I had too much coffee today:cry:

You probably have a I7-920(?) That should do the trick i think. Dont know if you are familiarized with your PC, but a overclock could also do the trick. But i have so say that OC-ing a I7-920 is kind of tricky so you need to now what you are doing. As i read that the recommended specs are a I7-970 you should be able to make it (if you have a descent cooling!!) As Strongharm says: turn off all the desktop gimmicks. I have set my desktop standard on the classic windows theme. Until now speaking for myself, i do not notice any difference between the 32bit or 64 bit windows 7 with 8GB, allthough the 64 bit should have more reserves with my 8GB. Software needs to be written to adress memory at larger values. Dont know if this is done with DCS to adress 12 GB. What kind of GPU do you have?
-
Yep, there are not the cheapest but their inventory is huge.

This could be useful for a lot of people that dont build their own pit but still are looking for more realism? http://www.simw.com/hardware/tact-toggle-switch-panel-tt-panel.html **edit**, it also could be handy for those who are building a cockpit...

Im so glad that there still are developers for combat flightsimulators. I must admit, i gave up on Falcon 4.0. The last simulator i truly understood was Falcon 3.0 on 5 floppys playing on my 386SX 25 MHZ (My friend had a 486DX,grrrr...) When Falcon 4.0 came out it was too much for me. But now im a "bit" older and im more serious with (combat) flightsims. Ive been flying the 747-400 from PMDG in FS9 for years. I am even able to program the FMC manual. But in Fs9 i have time...dont need to worry for that ir sam. Anyways... Falcon 4 is a great project. Somehow DCS seems more accesible to me. So yeah, as soon as i fly the A-10 probably things will starting to fall in place. From what i have seen from YT vids, the graphics are very neat (FSX level?) and the cockpit systems are very neatly projected. So far i must say: Damn good job DCS! Bring out the full release and you have a buyer! Light the fires and burn the tires, bad boys for life:joystick::pilotfly::thumbup:

While im waiting for the A-10's full release i have DL the beta manual to familiarize myselfs with the different systems and gimmicks. And after 150 pages i thought: :helpsmilie: Is this a simulator or is this a simulator! So...looking back at my present LO FC1.12B A-10 were i understand the plane and its capabilities from a scale from 0 to 10 i would rate myself on a 8. But...this DCS machine is a different piece of cake. Putting FC 1.12B next to DCS A-10, im i starting at the scale on nr.... -5 setting the realism to max?
-
Im still with FC 1.12B. I have tried some sound mods and here and there i find some very nice sounds but there are also flaws which keeps me reverting it back to the default sounds. Dont get me wrong here. The sound of LO is good! But i just notice that sound doenst make the same progression as graphics. But as EtherealN earlier stated "The important question in all these preference things is: how large is the segment that this applies to? DCS:A-10C already has the most realistic and capable sound engine on the planet for simulation type stuff (the one that was made for FC2 and then transplanted into DCS:BS), doing much more would almost literally be money thrown into the lake." So yeah, that is how the game industry works and i totally agree and do understand it. Im gonna wait for the A-10 . Im very sure i will be suprised by the sound! I cannot judge sound based on a YT vid.
-
Thats what i was looking for: radiation patterns. Im waiting for the full release and then im going to study for 1 year and then i hope i have enough knowledge to fly the A-10!!
-
I understand what you mean. After EAX it all became very quiet... My post is based on YT vids. Im sure i will be blown alway as soon as i play the game on my own rig! Cant wait to:pilotfly:
-
And from your point of view, what kind of Soundcard are you refering to? Ive got a Creative SB X-FI Extreme gamer. Looking at gamers buying a new rig, they will choose for onboard sound so they have more money left for graphics. Would be nice if devs would make the sound as important as graphics. In that way you need a certain SB card to enjoy the full sound immersion. Concerning DCS A-10, i was only refering to the flyby screens. And i must also point out that the sound through YT vids is bad. Im truly looking forward onto its full release.
