So I finally got my track IR 5 in the mail yesterday and I was fn excited to say the least...well after coming home late didn't think I would install it last night but I had to try it out.

So I fire up Blackshark of course...only other sim I might try it and play with is FSX later.

Works so well so far...the one thing is that sometimes it shakes (prob me) so when I come in up close to press a button in the heat of things might be a bit tricky...I moved smoothness up to 2 and speed to 4 on the software what you guys have for settings?

One thing was landing the heli now was cake...it was like parking a car...at least I didn't land on fire although the first time I bumped into a truck and apparently exploded a min later lol

However as for the campaign so I beat the 2nd mission (escort) in deployment campaign...I don't know how though I did terrible...I don't think I did anything except flail around the area of the ambush...maybe they got scared I was going to crash right into them and left?

I fired some rockets into the bushes where I saw gun fire...anyone know for sure there are actually infantry or something there right? Anyways maybe I couldn't control it long enough to zoom in and search...either way I'm now on the third mission...

Anyone make it a point to land after mission success? Does it really matter? I mean I would and did...but then shut down my heli in a terrible uneducated fashion...not sure any of this would impact the static campaign...unless the other theaters besides deployment are actually more dynamic like I heard...

Deployment just for training purposes? If so that would be good anyways since I still suck at combat.

:pilotfly:Ill try to make it to some rookie multiplayer one of these days

Default settings with a pro clip (the only things I turned off / changed were the keybindings for pause and precision).

I do a quick calibration in the trackir software before each play session too, and make sure I can more or less reach my 6 o'clock without going out of the camera's view in the up/down/left/right positions, so the view in-game doesn't freak out when you reach some of the extents (left and right calibration seem to have a little amount of 'roll' on them near the -180 degree positions but that's ok, probably a defect with my head :D).

So my software as it is now is set on Speed 1 and Smooth 10.

Those 2nd and 3rd missions are a bit 'wtf happened / am I supposed to do?'. They do seem like extended / advanced versions of 'familiarisation' within battle theatre conditions, so just being along for the ride does seem part of it.

I played Lockon for a while without head tracking, but my trackir and blackshark arrived together -- I couldn't imagine playing it without that.

Haven't played properly lately though, been goofing around getting the eyecandy on my X52 Pro to function in-game. :joystick:

My trackir 5 is set to smooth = 24 and speed = 0.68 or something, it is 3 clicks less than 1, sorry I am at work. speed 4 is way way too fast, never need to set it above 1 for any game really.

hey thanks yo! I set mine now to speed 1 and smoothness 10...working well so far...able to navigate the pit well.

now I just need to control the heli a bit better...is it really that tough to make it do exactly what you want it to? im a vet simmer but I think heli's have always been my weakness even in FSX...is it me or are they tough as shit to fly?

Anyways..on 3rd mission...actually was blowing stuff up I should assign some targets somehow to my wingman eh?

Got shot down by the AAA though...my lack of control again got me killed.

Well yes, just need to practice a bit. For take off, and landing,

knowing the wind heading help a bit. Have rudder pedals help too. It

should be unplayable without these.

actually, you:

1- play in a pitch black room or make the camera so no light reflects say from shutter windows.

2- increase smooth,

3- decrease speed

4- smooth curves, and set curves in between low and high thresholds templates.

5- test various movements and see which axes need refinement.

6- tune up Z axis for zooming otherwise you'll practically shove your eye to the screen .

I got trir4 and its good, but hey u got 5, so you're the best ;)

7- save profile

8- update TIR5 software and titles list from drop down menu

9- restart

10- thank me later

I just got TIR5 and I foudn this thread useful.

I have only one real problem and that is when I try to move close and peer at a guage. I go out of the range of the track IR camera and can't look closer.

Is there a way to tweak the distance?

Maybe you are too close of your screen (TIR5). try to get a greater distance between you and your screen and it should work better. I'm ~3.5 feet away from my screen and I never went out of range of the trackIR.
