MadTommy Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 For your information: TrackIr thinks FC2 is BlachShark, and therefore will use the DCS:BS profile... This had me confused... trackir no longer uses LockOn as the base game type... i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. 71st_Mastiff Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 that is correct because there is limited 6dof in this version. Boulund Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Still, shouldn't it be able to see a difference between FC2 and Black Shark? Not that it's hard to manually change profile though... Haggart Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Thats the same for me, Z-axis doesn't work. There's no "Overkill". There's only "open fire!" and "time to reload". Specs: i7-980@4,2Ghz, 12GB RAM, 2x GTX480, 1x 8800GTS, X-Fi HD, Cougar, Warthog, dcs-F16-pedals
Vekiq Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 just create custom profile. It might be only me, but i never use provided profiles, they almost never are what and how i like it
MadTommy Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) ^^ TrackIr will use what ever profile you assign to Blackshark.. whether it is a custom one or not.. it wont use the profile assigned to LockOn.. as it used to. What do you mean ? My Z axis doesn't work. All other works fine. Thats the same for me, Z-axis doesn't work. Try this.. worked for me.. Change your axis Z in "Absolute Longitude Shift Camera View" and assign it to the zoom view Regards Edited March 27, 2010 by MadTommy i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. Boulund Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 MadTommy is right. The Z-axis DOES work, but it's not assigned to zoom like it was in previous FC, it is now assigned to a very limited forward movement of the viewpoint - just like in Black Shark but with very reduced range of motion. nemises Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 ..not that I can tell anyone how they should set their stuff up, but , using Z axis as zoom (even in FC) is less usefull than mapping the Zoom axis to ..well..another device axis, or even as digital zoom in / out on button presses... Having to maintain a zoomed in view by leaning forward for even a short period of time is ..well...not good, as your very small head movements will become very big head movements at that zoom level especially if you are leaning forward...and also,. you could get a sore back / neck ;) So yeah, like in BS (if you fly it), leave the Z Axis of tir assigned to the Z-axis head movement, and use another setup for zoom (for eg, I use the slider on my x52 throttle for this, however, most ppl in my squad use hat's to zoom in / out / reset zoom level) All IMHO of course, but yeah, hopefully it'll help some out.
Topo Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I prefer to use an axis on my throttle for zoom command too.
RedTiger Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I have disabled zoom and roll altogether in my profile. I typically find roll in a fighter jet sim to be highly disorienting. Besides, the sim already rolls the view a little bit during turns. The way zoom works in FC 2.0 might just be on purpose. In old FC, you could zoom forward with Track IR in a very unrealistic way. Believe it or not, I'm finding zoom to be unneeded, at least so far in air to air, with the new ballistics model.
ZaltysZ Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 The fact, that FC2 is recognized as Black Shark by TrackIR, isn't very good. All my profiles for air combat are always more sensitive than for ground attack (or for clickable cockpits), but now I either have to use the same profile for helicopter and fighter jets, or either manually switch profile before launching the game. It is not very comfortable situation. So far, I use one simple workaround. I play with my insensitive Black Shark profile, but with altered TrackIR axis inside FC2. It is possible to go to plane controls screen, choose Axis, scroll right until TrackIR column is shown and alter corresponding axis. I simply put an outer deadzone and TrackIR becomes more sensitive for chosen plane. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
71st_Mastiff Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Wouldn't it be easier to just make a profile instead of doing all of that? And in one click turn on that profile? I don't know it just looks like your trying to make an ant hill in to a mole hill.:music_whistling: The fact, that FC2 is recognized as Black Shark by TrackIR, isn't very good. nemises Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Well, don't panic...compatibility updates (for TIR) are surely only days away... Try "update games" in the TIR software, and one of these days FC2 will pop up there garunteed.
Phoenix FR Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 (edited) For those who have problem with the z axis and don't want to sue the zoom key. Select line Track IR Absolute longitude shift camera view => select trackIr Z => use the button Axis Tune => Modify Curvature to -100. It should work better. Not perfect, but better.
