mod will be avalible once the game is launched, and past beta testing stage.

turn your speakers up to enjoy the realistic audios in video clip. :>)...

Very nice work diveplane....This is whats it all about. Now somebody just has to make a mod, that makes us able to smell the gunpowder :pilotfly:

Diveplane would it be possible to keep the current in Cockpit Gau8 sound and modify just the external one?

Looking at GAU8Cannon.sdef and GAU8Cannonin.sdef I'm guessing this is atl eat feasible.

Nate

external is modified , i may do a request with the package yep some like the original internal audio cannon.

am also going to do a super realistic mod like this f15 clip just radio static and oxygen supply.

Its a releave someone get it already so close to the real thing, it makes the sim 10 times better. Nice agressive sound Diveplane, seems that the original sound it to low, like the Gun is fireing to slow. I listend over and over again, impressed especially with the echo bouncing 5-6 sec after the pas. You have to turn your volume up to notice but its there.

Keep up the good work!

thx , i love the external distant engine air distortion, its beautiful sounding , close to the real aircraft.

Hmm I would say that the sound in the clip is too high because the camera the clip was filmed with didn´t recorded the low frequencys ;)

Here I am again, diveplane!

Sound issue here.

When in multiplayer some times the souind of the gun just wont stop even if not firing.

LOL it sounds like a tractor when you go by.

Diveplane,

How did you get the bullet hit sounds to delay/echo like that? Pretty cool.

Not sure about inside GAU noise. Sounds kinda like a huge cannon firing other then a gatling sound.

Anyways, I think in reality, the pilots don't hear much of the gun anyway, maybe a faint noise but that would be it.

Awesome Work!

I had a look at the GAU 8 sounds today. e

We obviously have two sounds there: The first one is the bullets hitting the ground (high) and a bit later the second one the GAU 8 itself with a very low sound like in DCS:A10C at the moment.

Itś a pity that we only have videos for reference with mostly distorted sounds recorded with simple camera mics.

Standard flyby pretty close (distorted)

a naked GAU 8 with a lot of reverb audible at the end and also distortion.

A GAU 8 with an A10 around it with a lot of distortion

Iḿ actually not too sure if the GAU 8 creates a third higher sound coming from the muzzle flash. If so this one could be affected by the forward speed of the A10 so it's maybe not audible while flying.

In conclusion I think that the GAU 8 sound at the moment from within the cockpit is very close to realistic but I'm not exactly sure how it really would sound like from the outside.

Any suggestions, investigations, real life experience?

We still don't know how ED creates the sounds I would bet they are synthesized by a sound designer and are not sampled.

your mistaken its a gattling sound, fired a small quick squirt in video, a10 pilots fire small trigger squirts if they can, to be conservative on ammo, as the gattling eats ammo up very quick.

audio is WIP .

Ah, ok. Wasn't sure if it was a 1 second burst or like a 3 second.

Any chance of a "beta" release? *hint* *hint* :music_whistling::D

Can't wait for it

O boy, o boy, o boy...

Last night I wasted few hours watching clips with A-10 straffing runs in Afganistan. I was kinda sad that the tremendous gatling gun roar is not implemented in the DCS simulation (yet).

After seeing the work by diveplane, I am sure that GAU-8 will be my weapon of choice after the final release. The "Hog's" roar is just out if this worlds.... Great work diveplane, you rock man!

30 mm GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling Sound

For me When I fly the A-10 the first thing I check is its Gatling sound. Something you would expect would sound amazing and eerie when hearing this devastating weapon. I understand this is a beta. But the sound for the Gatling sucks the big one.

3 videos of what the 30mm Gatling should sound like. Please put a better sound for it. I would love to see something more realistic sounding.

"Sucks the big one"

What kind of reply are you expecting with that kind of comment? Remember this is someone's work you are criticizing and if it was my work I wouldn't bother replying to a comment like that. Reminds me of music critics. Try doing something better yourself and see how hard it might be.

Use the search function. You'll find there is an active topic about this already.

Personally I think the gun sounds great in the sim from where it counts, in the cockpit. Not sure how many of those links you posted show that.

We know the rate of fire. Hence we know the pitch of the sound made. 3900 rpm = 65 Hz.

Try it out for yourself: http://www.seventhstring.com/tuningfork/tuningfork.html

You need to lower the "tuning origin" setting to 438,5, and I suggest moving the timbre slider all the way to the right (the jagged waveform). Hit the left-most C key and listen for yourself.

To me, it seems ED got it rather spot on.

Edit: Another factor to keep in mind when doing "YouTube research" is the doppler effect. My back-of-an-envelope calcs give that if you observe an aircraft doing a 200 knot gun run at a 45 degree aspect off the nose, it will add about 14 Hz to a 65 Hz tone. Pretty significant.

ACe sound mod for Arma 2 gatling firing

this one sounds abolutely amazing still arma 2

my gattling audio mod is very close to those arma 2 audios as well.

arma2 engine has more freedom to play with audios and addons though. a10c we are limited, ie third party modding.
