DieHard Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) I have this download for FC3, just installed a couple hours ago: http://www.lockonfiles.com/files/file/2640-fa-18c-eagle-by-henry-hell/ Hey, the tail-hook works! Henry fixed the tail-hook and added some air-to-air missiles. The link above is updated. In the DCS World Mission Editor I placed the Carl Vinson a little bit off Batumi, heading north. Boat speed is 26 knots into a southerly breeze at 10 m/s. I placed a F/A-18C at Batumi, ramp started it, took-off and landed on the CV trap wires, without issue. I hit the "U" key to place me on the cat. Requested permission to takeoff, the blast shield was raised. Full flaps set, I hit afterburners and there I set. What is the secret taking off the CV using this mod? I looked through all the keyboard commands in Saved Games, using Notepad++ . I did not see any command like a catapult launch key. I am a newbie with the editor, is there a goof-up I did? Yet, the refueling boom functions correctly. The FSX Acceleration Pack has a working cat and there is a steam mod utilizing smoke to look like steam. I am not too thrilled about guys that post broken mods as being completed works, but are in fact a work-in-progress and this includes published stuff in the DCS User Files. could122 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 The same Problem for my, any help please! CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k 4.4GHz | MOBO: Asus Maximus VII Hero |HD: Samsung 840 Evo SSD 500 GB| GPU: GTX 760 2GB | RAM: G skill Ripjaws DDR3 2133 16GB| OS: Windows 10 PRO
DieHard Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) I made a mission in the editor. I take-off, off the boat as an AI, F/A-18, then I jump in (RAlt+J). It is a work-around for now. I found another F-18 mod to try which I will copy my DCS World directory and mod it separately: http://www.virtual-aerobatics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1060 Edited November 14, 2013 by DieHard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

NRG-Vampire Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 unfortunately, there is no catapult acceleration yet in the sim - except for AI maybe in the future - with next patches i am wondering how will the booster rockets work on the mig-21, maybe ed is implementing an acceleration effect for land and sea based aircrafts as well hopefully accelereation will work for specified duration on the ground/deck and in the air too
HiJack Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 FSX, VRS Superbug and Tacpack is the best solution to fly some carrier ops for now. Hopefully ED or a thirdparty will release some DCS F-18 soon.
DieHard Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) I made a mission in the editor. I take-off, off the boat as an AI, F/A-18, then I jump in (RAlt+J). It is a work-around for now. I found another F-18 mod to try which I will copy my DCS World directory and mod it separately: http://www.virtual-aerobatics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1060 I dumped Henry's LOF mod and the modded directory for it and started over with the link above. I did the manual installation. This virtual-aerobatics.com mod is a much better and thought out mod. Taking off from the carrier is no problem 1st time off, but landing on the CV, then taxiing over to the cat, the tower will not give permission to launch and no jet blast shield raises on the 2nd time off. The flaps work like they are supposed to. The cockpit HUD works like it is supposed to in the F-15. The refueling boom does not function. The Drag Chute does work but I do not see the chute; when it is deployed the speed bleeds right off. So, maybe the refueling boom also works, but is not seen. I did not try the weapons, yet, except the gun, the gun works. The targeting radar works with both air-to-air missiles, but they did not launch---I do not fly the F-15 much, so it may just be me being ignorant of the missile firing keyboard command sequence. This mod comes with an Instant Start mission to play with it, but it is inland at Kutasi. A big transport jet to shoot at comes on in about 5 minutes. Some keyboard commands are missing compared to the F-15; can be refreshed using the Load Profile in Options\Controls and the keyboard default.lua under Mods\aircrafts\F-18C\joystick\ , but it does not have the same keyboard commands as the F-15. This mod uses the FC3: F-15 cockpit. I do not know how to add keyboard commands, yet, but I am going to copy/paste some lines from the F-15 into the F-18 keyboard commands and see what happens. The refueling boom is mapped, but mine does not work. Some keyboard commands work, but not properly like dropping fuel tanks and weapons, different keyboard commands accomplish the tasks. ============================================ I would like to know how the keyboard commands work in conjunction with the graphics to see the process work, the actual code\supporting files sequence that supports the action: I push the keyboard keys " Left Control + R " How does this result in the screen graphics of the refueling boom raising and lowering? I am being awkward inquiring in typed English how the program works to accomplish the specific task. I want to know how the keyboard commands and whatever else is involved in seeing the refueling boom raise or not. Why I want to know how this sequence of events function is to troubleshoot why it does not. ============================================ I wonder if this modder has been picking Moa's brains? Hope so! Moa's mod for FC2 is the best I have seen using LockOn. It has several working carrier based aircraft and the weapons work. : http://stallturn.com/wiki/en/VNAO_mods/ Downside with both mods is I will have to create my own missions as what is available is nil. I need to learn the Mission Editor better, anyway. I have both the FSX and VRS Superbug and I agree with what HiJack says, but I am a diehard. I like DCS, though that FSX mod for the T-45 is pretty cool and the carrier pack.
