Suchacz Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) As you can see on the attached screens, exhaust smoke from firing GAU8 is all black. I think, that it has something to do with that fog layer and HDR, because firing to the clear sky looks normal in the same mission, time and place. Edit: I have HD7870 with new drivers 13.2 Attachements: 1 - firing to the ground 2 - firing to the sky 3 - mission, where the screens were takenTanker.miz Edited March 5, 2013 by Suchacz Per aspera ad astra! Mustang Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Can anybody confirm that, or is it my HW/SW problem? Should I post a track? I've just tried your attached mission and couldn't reproduce the black smoke like you're describing, although i might not be seeing it at the exact moment you do - maybe you could post a trackfile.

Mustang Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Interesting, when i replayed your track i didn't see any gunsmoke at all, there is something wrong somewhere.
Suchacz Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 Just to make it clear, I didn't met this problem anytime before or after in any other mission. It must be that fog. Per aspera ad astra! Mustang Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Yes this must be some kind of interaction between the gunsmoke and fog shaders, i'll continue to investigate.
Suchacz Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 I just tried to turn the HDR off. There is no black area anymore, but there is no smoke either  Per aspera ad astra! Suchacz Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 7870 Pitcairn GPUs are known to have DX9 Display Corruption issues (IN ALOT OF GAMES). Especially when using High AA or AF. It may be true, but it's strange, that until now I'm the only one that reported this issue. I have flown this mission many times before, I use it often for an air refueling and IFR landing training (that's why the fog is there), so this was not the first time, when I used the GAU8 there. That means, that this problem is related to some changes in v1.2.3, because my HW and related drivers are the same as before the current update was installed. No offense guys, but I want to direct you to the "meritum" of this issue and help you to do your marvelous job. Per aspera ad astra! SkateZilla Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 newer compiled DirectX Runtimes?. I dunno, try changing FSAA modes, and stuff. I know when I made a DCS profile, it messed up alot of stuff, so I deleted it and put it all back to Application Controlled.
