hitman Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I recently asked for a video from pre LO-MAC that demonstrated a feature I was looking for. This effect was made prior to LOMAC being released publicly, yet never made its way to any former or current DCS / ED product. http://www.4players.de/4players.php/download_start/Allgemein/Download/4605.html Look close enough, you will see vapor being sucked in towards the aircraft when the engines spool up on the carrier. How come this effect never came into LOMAC or DCS?
SkateZilla Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Looks more like the Ship wake particle effects are coming though the deck. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
NRG-Vampire Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 it's the old prow effect, not particle but simple sprite - seems modded: bigger effect
hitman Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Looks more like the Ship wake particle effects are coming though the deck. There were no ship wake particles back in the old days, these were rendered clouds - the same exact ones we've had since the very beginning! I remember the discussions about them on the old Ubisoft forums from way back in the days, I just dont remember why they deleted them before release.

But still, looks pretty good considering it appeared to be condensed vapor intake on a carrier deck. You can see a little of that in this video. OlqHqwT0md8#t=55
SkateZilla Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 That's steam coming out of the catapult track, and since the carrier is moving forward at 30+ knots, the steam appears to move backwards. hitman Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 You can still get condensation in front of a low pressure area sucked into a turbine. Even then, we still dont have steam or effects like condensed vapor in-game. They just recently added jet smoke, why not vapor effects like steam? Simple request...
