Hi,

 

I'm not sure if this is actually a bug but it seems that way. On our server, I have a mission set up so that no aircraft can load long range A2A missiles (AIM-120 R-27 etc.)

 

To do this I have simply removed them from the airfield inventories.

 

Players spawning in the Mig can no longer load either the Countermeaures dispenser or the ECM pod. I've checked a few times to make sure I'm not doing anything stupid, and can't see it!

 

Are they listed under something else in the editor?

Yes, there seems to be something wrong.

 

There are two R-60M listed, but no way to tell them apart which are MiG-21 compatible and which are not. Probably there was already a R-60M in DCS before the MiG-21? These should somehow be unified?

 

Same for S-24B.

 

SPRD-99 are listed under A-G Rockets. Weired, but probably just a technical oddity.

 

External tanks: there are two variants: "Fuel Tank 490l" and "Fuel Tank 490l C". Why the distinction between wing tanks and center line tanks? But again, this, too, is just a minor oddity imo...

 

But then, there is the MiG-21 "Fuel Tank 800l" and a different tank "Fuel tank 800L". This is more like the R-60M / S-24B issue. Here I understand that these tanks are probably(?) technically different, but then their naming should somehow make that a bit more obviousl.

 

A SPS-141 is listed under "Misc", but it is not the one that is used by the MiG-21.

 

And indeed, for the MiG-21, the SPS-141-100 and the ASO-2 are completely missing.

It occurs to me that since they're not listed, it may be that once you uncheck "unlimited ammo" against each airfield that they are no longer available (since they don't appear in the inventory).

 

I can't test that right now but will do later.

I have also noticed that MiG-21 arsenal is more or less all new, and there are duplicates when the same payload was already available in core DCS. There is no way to tell them apart in mission editor, which complicates things.

 

Also, performance between ED R-60M and LN R-60M seems to be different, ED version can aquire targets from front aspect too, even if only from close ranges, so far, LN version seem to be able to aquire from rear, up, down, side but not front. But I haven't tried LN version against more heat producing targets and also I don't know which one is more realistic in this case.

 

I'd really wish ordnance would be unified across the modules. I'd say, which one is more realistic should be adopted for overall sim, and made available to all aircraft using that weapon.

 

Otherwise we may have a virtual logistics nightmare here :)

Bump, can we expect a fix for ASO-2 and SPS-141-100 not being available in airfield warehouses (unless weapons are set to unlimited) in the next patch?

 

This is fairly importnant, actually major, for mission building isn't it now? :)

Bump for great justice. I play almost exclusively MP and I can't do much of anything useful with the MiG in any kind of reasonable threat environment without the SPS-141.

This does need a fix. I love the MiG-21 and really want to use it in MP. But no host in their right mind is going to allow you to carry nukes and thus we have no ECM or even simple flares. It makes the plane virtually unusable in MP.
