Hey guys,

Below you will find a link to the multiplayer version of the updated "Operation Hammerfall 3" from the upcoming "The Enemy Within DLC".

Mission in itself is not very different than the original, although there are a few surprises. Briefing, FRAGO and maps come directly from the SP version and are included in the mission, but since they don't look very good in the MP briefing window, I am including the link to the FRAGO in the end of this post and the maps below. In the SP campaign all the maps and FRAGOs are in the briefing screen, allowing for very detailed information before each and every sortie.

STORY:

Up to 3xA-10Cs are sent to destroy defences of a fortified insurgent camp located high in Georgian mountains, close to the Russian border. The mission probably would have been a walk in the park if it weren't for a very low cloud layer making navigation and attack runs rather tricky. Requires good cooperation and good planning to successfully complete.

CAMPAIGN:

This is part of 21-mission, story based DLC. More information can be found HERE.

FRAGO (Fragmentary Order) can be downloaded HERE.

NOTES

This mission uses "sound to" (so you don't need to have your frequencies set), as opposed to "radio transmissions" in the SP campaign (where if you don't have your radios set up correctly, you won't hear anything). This is due to the fact that radio transmissions are not entirely reliable in MP mode.

Also, at some points you will be required to contact other assets using F10 key. I encourage you to actually say what you want to say instead of simply pressing the key, it adds so much to the immersion - although of course it is entirely up to you.

Finally, do follow your flight plan, otherwise you might miss some triggers (besides, you would be expected to fly along the FP in real life, wouldn't you?)

Hoping to see lots of AARs and screenshots here. :)

I've test-flown this mission with Baltic Dragon and one additional player. We were able to finish it after all, but the low cloud layer makes it really difficult. But ever since I first flew it in the first version of the Enemy Within campaign, I thought it would be a blast in MP, and it was.

Here's a tiny AAR from my perspective:

I was assigned to fly lead (I'm not really comfortable in that role, but it seemed to make sense at the time). I first sent in #2 to go below the clouds and assign targets; at some point he ventured right into the enemy valley and was ripped to pieces by the Air Defenses.

Next, I went below the clouds and tried to give MGRS coords to #3 (Baltic Dragon) so that he could drop GBU-38 on coords from the safety of Angels 15 (above the clouds). My coords were always a bit off, so there was effect on the enemy forces, but we didn't get the Strela that way.

Next, I sent #3 below the clouds and his coords were more accurate than mine used to be. This way, my GBU-38 took out the Strela.

By that time, #2 had rejoined us in a new A-10 from Kobuleti. We mopped up remaining enemy Air Defenses, destroyed the enemy bunkers guarding the entrance to the valley with the help of an AI JTAC and then cleared the Georgian heavy armor to go in. They defeated the remaining enemy forces and we were cleared to RTB. One A-10C lost, but overall a successful mission. :)

It's probably quicker to descend below the clouds with the whole flight and take out targets with Mavs, but navigating in the confined area comes with a higher risk of mid-air collisions, that's why I preferred to have one spotter below the clouds and two strikers above. I'm curious how others approach the mission. :smartass:

God, it would be Hammerfall 3 you give us to test you sadist ;)

It is much more sadistic in SP than in MP. Having said that, it is still quite challenging :music_whistling: waiting for the moderators to approve it and I will post a link.
