Something changed recently, a lot of people are having this problem. You need to flip the right button on the starter panel with the orange safety guard to the right.

I understand you don't look any further, it would be nice if someone could create a sticky for this:

The start-up procedure changed. Check out this http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=157056 on the "Start-Up" chapter to know exactly what you need to do.

My guess is that you are missing the "Press the Engine OFF button" step (at the very beginning) on the left side of your seat. It should be a small red button next to your throttle.

Ive never pressed that red button at the beginning and it still starts for me.

This is a procedure only for those having problem with their throttle. Ususally a (physical) axis a bit wear-out, which DCS interprets as "not exactly at 0%" thus preventing start.

Pushing the button enforces the "throttle = 0 exactly" situation.

Or if you accidentally move the throttle forward before startup. The engine won't start then, and the only way to move the throttle back is the little red button. :D
