Hi,

In the YouTube video by Wags, the target was known at waypoint 1. If the target was not at a waypoint, do we then enter coordinates given by JTAC?

Thanks!

Yep. DATA subformat, WYPT, UFC, POSN, enter north/west coords.

Thanks!

PS: I realised though in creating a JTAC mission, if using Waypoint Weapon Designate, you have to make the Target Waypoint at ground level (using MSL) or the diamond would be high up in the air. Also, initially, my JTAC would appear in the commns and then disappear the next time I pulled up commns. It puzzled me. Then I realised from the debrief screen the tanks (which were my targets) were killing my JTAC almost immediately. I had to put the tanks on weapons hold. LoL

Or make the JTAC invulnerable and invisible to the enemy. Then the tanks will still fire on you

Ah yes, that would be more interesting, thanks!

UPDATE: For some reason, 'invisible' and 'immortal' options didn't work. JTAC comms soon disappeared again - the debrief showed JTAC was hit by sabot rounds from the tanks in both options. Had to revert to weapons hold for the tanks.

Make sure that the options are set in the waypoint options, not the triggers tab. I made that mistake when I was first trying to set up a JTAC. Invisible and immortal will then work.

It was set in advance waypoint options but didn't work. Does it need to be first on the list before EPLRS, set frequency, set call sign and all that?

Here is a screenshot of the JTAC I set up and been practicing AGM-65E's with. He was getting killed at first.

I did the same just the invisible option was at the bottom of the list.

UPDATE: I put 'immortal' 2nd on list after EPLRS. It worked in that JTAC survived but debrief also showed the tanks, which were 'weapon free' and 'hold', did not fire on JTAC. Not sure why. But the tanks did fire at me.

JTAC on my Radio menu

Here is a screenshot of the JTAC I set up and been practicing AGM-65E's with. He was getting killed at first.

Hey there, I can't seem to get JTAC up on my Radio menu after many trys and different Unit types. My unit was surviving after putting Invisible and Invulnerable first in the list but I can't seem to bring him up on my Radio menu. Any help much appreciated.

Ensure that the FAC task options are set properly. Here is a screenshot of the same JTAC I posted earlier.

If I use 133MHz or 131MHz, the AM/FM scratchpad stays blank and I am unable to select AM/FM. 150MHz AM works for me. This is in Nevada. Not sure about other maps.

On a related note, I did an Instant Mission in Nevada. It generated a FAC. The briefing put it on 30MHz FM. I could contact FAC but they had no task for me as they were not engaging anything. A closer look at its advance waypoint (1) showed two frequencies. Under FAC I think it was 131MHz, but under Set Frequency it was 30MHz FM. Does it mean Set Frequency overrides the earlier frequency? Hmm...

Hey thanks for your input, mighty nice of ya. I'm in PG Map in one of the new locations in the latest update.. BAM City. I'll try the same set up in another Map and see what gives.

JTAC on my Radio menu

Hey successs! I found this setting worked in the same Map, I think was the Laser I was applying in Designation instead of Auto. I'm not entirely sure but I know this works. JTAC was in Radio menu this time and there was an option for Laser during Nine Line.

Thanks again to all for input, much appreciated.

I use these settings. After some testing, I found that...

a) ELPRS is required and should be 1st.

b) Immortal or Invisible must be 2nd on the list or FAC could be destroyed.

c) Put FAC on Weapon Hold as 3rd so it doesn't engage/destroy your target.

d) No need to Set Callsign or Set Frequency if they are set in FAC - Assign Group.

e) FAC frequency that works for me in Nevada is 150MHz AM.

f) Target waypoint for WPDSG in HSI has to be set at same MSL as ground or it will be in the air.

I used Immortal so FAC can get fired upon by target and survive. Then you'll see a little more smoke and action :)

Cheers

Hey thanks, nice one. I actually most times set that up just about exactly what you have there but I was trying different configs because of not seeing my JTAC in the Radio menu and you know what, I forgot to look to for the simplest reason first. I just now discovered using F7, I watched my JTAC being blown to smithereens by these Ka50s I had orbiting, doofus me forgot to set their ROE to Weap Hold but that's also perplexing because I always have him set as Immortal. Hey but I'll use your guide anyway. Thanks again GrEaSeLiTeNiN, I appreciate your input.

Cheers G

Same thing happened to me. My FAC was killed very early on by the target (tanks) as reported in the debriefing screen. But 'immortal' or 'invisible' for FAC only works if you set it at least 2nd on the list after EPLRS. :)

Update: FAC Weapon Hold has to be at least 3rd (after 1.EPLRS and 2.Immortal/Invisible) or it will still fire on your target.
