ok, so that new 6dof looks like its been implemented better than I expected.

obviously you get the side to side action now, but It also looked like the z axis was working, which I was under the impression that the Z axis (moving head forward and back for closer look at hud/instruments) would not be changed in FC 2 due to the cockpits not being in 3d or something.

I heard head tilt is also in the game, though it was not utilized in that video.

Can anyone clarify exactly how the new limited 6dof ACTUALLY works.

What works and what does not work exactly?

Dont let the smell get to ya...............

I was working on the cockpitview for the Simmod A-10 when I saw the following line in the file server.lua in \Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Config\View:

limits_6DOF = {}

limits_6DOF[PlaneIndex.iSu_27] = old_aircrafts_6DOF

limits_6DOF[PlaneIndex.iSu_33] = old_aircrafts_6DOF

limits_6DOF[PlaneIndex.iSu_25] = old_aircrafts_6DOF

limits_6DOF[PlaneIndex.iSu_39] = old_aircrafts_6DOF

limits_6DOF[PlaneIndex.iMiG_29] = old_aircrafts_6DOF

limits_6DOF[PlaneIndex.iMiG_29K] = old_aircrafts_6DOF

limits_6DOF[PlaneIndex.iA_10] = {x = {-0.02,0.35},y = {-0.35,0.18},z = {-0.35,0.35},roll = 90.0}

limits_6DOF[PlaneIndex.iF_15] = old_aircrafts_6DOF

limits_6DOF[PlaneIndex.iKA_50] = {x = {-0.02,0.35},y = {-0.15,0.21},z = {-0.26,0.26},roll = 90.0}

So it was obvious, that with the settings from the KA-50 it should also work for A-10 and other.

Disclaimer:

ED did not implented it, because the pits are not made for full 6dof, that means, you can see some "errors" when moving around, example, the pit from the A-10 is not closed behind the seat (to make shure the pilot has some fresh air :smartass:). For me personaly not a show stopper.

But dont start to complain about it when you alter those values! :)

Use notepad++ not just the normal notpad to alter settings!

My values in the A-10 are for the Simmod with also a changed viewpoint values, same file, server.lua:

CockpitLocalPoint = {}

CockpitLocalPoint[PlaneIndex.iSu_27] = {8.15, 1.38, 0.0}

CockpitLocalPoint[PlaneIndex.iSu_33] = {8.35, 1.35, 0.0}

CockpitLocalPoint[PlaneIndex.iSu_25] = {3.5 , 0.4 , 0.0}

CockpitLocalPoint[PlaneIndex.iSu_39] = {3.406, 0.466, 0.0}

CockpitLocalPoint[PlaneIndex.iMiG_29] = {4.92, 1.35, 0.0}

CockpitLocalPoint[PlaneIndex.iMiG_29K] = {4.9, 1.254, 0.0}

CockpitLocalPoint[PlaneIndex.iA_10] = {4.095, 1.67, 0.0}

CockpitLocalPoint[PlaneIndex.iF_15] = {6.5, 1.238, 0.0}

CockpitLocalPoint[PlaneIndex.iKA_50] = {3.188, 0.39, 0.0}

further down in the file you also can mess with the max angle settings.

ALTER AT YOUR OWN RISK! :smartass: I have no idea what the consequences are for Multiplayer or other things! :D
