Viper482 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) I switched to sim avionics mode, learning the sim better and wanting to take the training wheels off. The campaign in DCS World always makes me start parked on ramp and having to go through the entire startup procedure, (any way around this?) I have been using autostart prior to this and it was working, it was only when I switched avionics to sim in options that this started being an issue. So at this step when the master caution light comes on and typically goes right back off, it now stays on and everything shuts down....but the procedure continues as if everything is normal. I searched far and wide but no luck. I have restarted the game and reconfigured the settings but nothing is working. Also when it was in game mode avionics the left windows key plus home started, now it is right win+home, which was wierd. Any clue? Edited February 9, 2014 by Viper482 Clarification
Viper482 Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Well it appears the slider on my X52 was set as the throttle in sim mode and it was set forward, apparently the throttle must be at 0% to continue past the APU Gen/APU Off stage in startup lol. All is well now.....
NoCarrier Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Well it appears the slider on my X52 was set as the throttle in sim mode and it was set forward, apparently the throttle must be at 0% to continue past the APU Gen/APU Off stage in startup lol. All is well now..... That's because the engine ignition system will only work when your throttle is set to idle (or when you put the Engine Operate switch of the engine in question to IGN). So the sim's portraying the situation right. In my experience, though, the simulated throttle will only start responding when you start giving throttle input through your controller. Otherwise the throttle levers will be in the cut-off/idle position as the start-up script obviously expect them to be. So I'm guessing you have either the "synchronize cockpit controls with HOTAS controls at mission start" option enabled, or you're moving the throttle before the start-up script gets to engine ignition. It would be nice if the script could override your controller throttle position momentarily when it's trying to start up your engine. On the other hand, a lot of people would then accidentally start rolling because they didn't leave their throttle in idle. So pick your poison, I guess.
Rongor Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 If you want to use autostart, stick with game mode. If you want to enjoy sim mode, don't touch autostart.

I can ramp start the sim A-10C with the best of you, but sometimes I just rather spent those four minutes getting a drink or hitting the toilet. I'm not shitting my pants for any of you, realism be damned. Edited February 9, 2014 by NoCarrier

All is well now.....I experience exactly the same and I'm sure you could have your throttle set to whatever you like in 1.2.6, the auto start macro still did the job. Anyway, we seem to have figured out what the problem is. :) Oh and to those who find the auto start is for gamers, sometimes you do indeed want to get a drink, write down frequencies, runways, etc. Really no point in stalling if you only have an hour of spare time. i7 4790K: 4.8GHz, 1.328V (manual) MSI GTX 970: 1,504MHz core, 1.250V, 8GHz memory

The campaign in DCS World always makes me start parked on ramp and having to go through the entire startup procedure, (any way around this?) You could always edit the mission so that you start 'hot' on the ramp instead of 'cold'. However, this might break something in the mission, though probably not. NOTE: The hot ramp start option did not exist when these mission were created. I'm terribly sorry that the OP, myself, and many many others offend your sense of what's allowed and not in DCS by using autostart. :megalol: 1

Sorry but I think I will stick to enjoying the realism in sim mode in flight and combat without having to flick switches for 5 minutes on the ground first. But rock on bro. Thanks for the support to the rest of you, took me a long time to sit down with this sim but lovin every minute of it.....after autostart.
