OldTimer Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I'm new to flight simulation and trying to figure it all out sure picked a hard one to start out with. Can someone explain to me the meaning of the wording (like Deadzone) and other terms in the tune up axis section. I am having a hard time getting a smooth stick response. Being a former pilot and airplane owner I know about the pitch, roll and yaw just don't understand how to used this function correctly. Thanks, OldTimer
upupandaway Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) Hi there and welcome! Deadzone is the area around the centre of an axis (if it´s not defined as a slider) in which your physical input with the stick will not generate any output in the sim. This might for example be helpful with the rudder axis because perhaps you tend to shift around a little and move the pedals inadvertedly. Curvature kind of regulates the exponent in your relation between physical input on the stick and its simulated output. You can go from a strictly linear relation to pretty much any gradient or slope of a curve (progressive/degressive). Saturation regulates the maximum simulated control output regardless of your physical input. You will have to play around with these settings a little. Maybe it would be helpful to know which module you are talking about. Edited March 4, 2014 by upupandaway [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
OldTimer Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 Thanks that clear some things up. I am using the A10C Warthog software with the new Saitek X55 Rhino HOTAS Thank again
upupandaway Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Nice, not many people have that stick yet. There is also a thread in the input and output section of this forum where you may share your impressions. The A-10C in DCS is generally a rather gentle and forgiving plane. If it helps, I use DZ 3 / CURVE 15 on the stick and DZ 5 / CURVE 15 on the pedals with a Logitech G940. Have fun! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
PFunk1606688187 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I used to use a curve with my X52 in the A-10, then I set it to Zero and realized how limiting even a modest curvature can be to your control input. In particular the speed of inputs just feels sluggish with any curve. In my opinion using deadzone should be reserved exclusively for sticks with centering problems. I still use curve on my Rudder however. Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
OldTimer Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 Thanks guy I will keep you posted on the X55 as I get used to it. I am having a lag on the stick then it suddenly goes violent and I'm all over the place it is very sensitive. I will try your setting and see what happens. I also sent a tech issue to Saitek see if they have any ideas. Thanks again.
PFunk1606688187 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 You can fly with the RCtrl-Enter overlay open which might give you some better understanding of whats happening with your control inputs. Since its a new piece of kit for the company you should stay abreast of any driver updates as well. Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
Shein Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2000617#post2000617 Here's a profile for the A-10 I made
OldTimer Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 Nice stall there P*Funk but man its hard to push forward when you see the ground rushing up. Its sort of like a forced landing at night turn the landing light on and if you don't like what you see turn it off........ Thanks Shein for your profile I will give it a shot.
