For one of the few times ever, I used track replay function after small joypad test yesterday. I recorded video from the actual flight and then I hit replay track in briefing screen and speed scrolled it to same position but this time from different view (F5, outside and locked to target) and recorded a video from that too.

I only shot a single burst with a cannon, destroying a target. But in replay track I don't even shoot close the target and it survives. And instead game stopping where I hit ESC and quitted, the track includes more AI operation where the target destroy me in totally different situation :D

Is it really acceptable for me to think that I can't trust the track at all as proof for anything?

Does the track replay function give AI the controls after the track recording has stopped so after your "actual" play, AI just keeps going?

It is just funny to play video from play and then from first track replay while they are not same, but more like from alternative reality where decision to pull trigger was the begin of the new branch for new alternative reality :D

Yes, you can't trust the replay tracks. Sometimes they work, more often than not they become wildly inaccurate, the longer they run.

Things happen when you speed up the mission. Let the mission replay in normal speed all the time and it may play correct. Things go wrong from time to time if you are using mods on your client or the server mission uses scripts. It is not allways ED that breaks things ;)

It's even worse if you run 1.2.6 trk file in 1.2.7. I tried for a few times. Apparently the reactions of AIs under the same conditions are different in the two DCS versions. I find myself, instead of shootng at the AI, shot at nothing. The AI, on the other hand, performs much more effective maneuvers than in 1.2.6, and easily blows me up from my back.

Tracks from one version don't play correct in the next but this have bean annonced by ED. You can keep several versions of DCS World on your computer if you wish.

Okay.

It was short track, no speeding done, no scripts etc and played of course right after the flight.

So it just isn't trustworthy.

But how trustworthy is then those flight visualizer applications what loads the track? Of course they do have the similar flaws as well?

Hm, that's strange. Was the fps low when you flew? If online on a server a lot of things can happen that breaks track. Was this on your computer running singleplayer I would have checked the misson file and maybe savd the file in the new 1.2.7 update 1 and tested a short flight again.

I've found this to be true as well. I believe the track file is only a recording of your control inputs, and actually plays the mission again using your recorded inputs (at least in a single player mission). If a bit is missed, the rest of the mission is inaccurate. This is probably more likely if time acceleration is used.

It's kind of like going back in time and altering some part of history, then an alternate reality ensues. ;)
