PLAGUEz Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 So I was told to head to the consecutive waypoint's. I head off to WP 2 (1 doesn't show up). Flying in my fav SU25T. What is the general altitude I should fly at, on the way there? What is the best way to avoid SAM's? My Countermeasures don't seem to do much. I've been shot down too many times now. Can anyone give advice on proper combat measures? I'm not a real trained pilot.
Maximus_Lazarus Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) Man, the amount of anti air on that server is CRAZY  Getting air to air kills i find is also harder than on random other servers. I think it's because there's some people flying there that have been doing so for the last 15 years or something (i recognized some SUPER OLD names from way way long ago) (* in other words, i am too noob) Anyway, in the briefing i think it says that in some areas you should not fly below 25000 feet. Also, if you are on blue team, (or red i forgot, you start north west of the map) , there are some targets for ground pounders east of the base. Anyway, fly around a little and then watch your flight back on TacView. That should give you an idea where NOT to go. Edited April 15, 2014 by Maximus_Lazarus [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
HiJack Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Flying the Su-25T and be successful about it needs a lot of practice. The Su-25T is one of the more enjoyable platforms to be successful in. You should practice in single player against the different SAM systems and if you are serious about it you should join a squadron and practice together in team with them, like the 104th Phoenix for instance.

So when you start the Nav system at your base, it switches immediately to the next WP. You could test this by not turning on NAV System and taking off, then turning it on a few miles out. Your WP1 would then be behind you at the airfield. As for altitude.... here is a rough guide for Sam engagement altitudes above ground: Metres Feet Strela 4000 13000 Tunguska 5000 16500 TOR 8000 26200 You have to avoid overflying active targets areas unless you are confident that you are above the IR sams and no short range warnings in your SPO signify a TOR/Tung.
