Less fps with overclocked GPU? How so?

DCS is the only game from which I know that when I overclock my GPU I actually get fewer fps in the game... why is this so? Have a Gainward GTX 570 Phantom.

 

Stock clock:

1.013 mV @ 749 MHz core, 1951 MHz memory

 

My OC clock (better in BF3, but worse in DCS):

1.050 mV @ 855 MHz core, 1998 MHz memory

How about playing around with the frequencies and trying different C/M clock ratios? Might sound funny, but I've heard that you can actually get the so-called graphics conveyor belt out of sync if you use an unsuitable frequency.

Because your CPU is the bottleneck.

 

Still wouldn't explain why you'd get LOWER framerates, but it does explain why you're not getting MOAR FPS

Sure it can. Mine does DCS just fine.

 

As I said, play around with the frequencies and try to find the sweet spot for your system.

I betcha Error Checking is kicking in on the VRAM Due to unstable Clocks :)

The magic word is "throttling".

Your OC GPU is too hot, so the GPU will be shift down.

 

Use GPUz during a DCS Session and take a look at the log. :smilewink:
