Hey Guys.

My warthog hotas arrived today :joystick: and I was doing some testing and noticed some lag in the response time, between when the button is pressed and when the action actually occurs. Is this normal?

So far, I haven't loaded up the target software, I've been just assigning the buttons. How common is it to not use TARGET? And is it really necessary?

Lastly, are there any calibration tools available?

Here's why I ask: When I pullup the HID-complaint driver info (devices & printers) ... Its all microsoft circa 6/21/2006 and this is with the Thrustmaster drivers installed.

Shouldn't native TM drivers be there and not decade old MS drivers??

Thanks a million!!!!

It is not normal to have such a hefty response time.

I have used TARGET and stopped again. I have found that it is better to program the Warthog HOTAS directly with lua scripting instead of learning the ins and outs of the TARGET software and remembering to start it up each time and so on... But with recent changes in the open beta this might just have become a bit harder, but not impossible.

There is some calibration tool from thrustmaster available, but it should not be necessary to use in most circumstances. Are your stick off center?

  • Are you testing this with the standard joystick/gamepad setup from the windows control panel? (visually assessing response time)
  • What version of windows are you using?
  • What HID-compliant driver are you checking date for? (does it have version info?)

Please fix the KA-50 bugs :-)

I absolutely love the TARGET software.

No you don't need it to fly. And that lag shouldn't be there.

TARGET Pros:

-Buttons can have multiple features

-On button can be programmed to do many things in a row

-You can adjust the lighting features on the Throttle in game to show gear down, flare or flaps

TARGET Cons:

-you have to create/program the script

-it has to run in the background

-complex scripts might not be compatible between modules, causing you start and stop scripts depending on the aircraft you want to fly for that mission.

Like I said, I love it. But I know guys that think it's garbage. To each their own, but it makes my life so much easier if all I have to do is push 1 button and it switches to Air to Air BVR mode, selects a 120C, turns on my radar, sets the range scale to 25km, and the expected target distance to 25km. All in the blink of an eye.

I am with you there, first I started using it with the advanced GUI mode , which is pretty powerful itself. I have since delved into learning to work with the script editor, and it really shines with it - there is so much one can do with it, way more than I ever will.

I am hooked on creating TARGET script profiles for my flight sims now.

Thanks Guys ....

I noticed a change when I switched from USB2 to USB3 ports.

And thanks "tietze" I found the latest version of the TM Calibration tool, and surprisingly the stick wasn't too far off "out of the box".

"KirkaFordis Rex: I absolutely love the TARGET software."

I'm finding several users making similar statements -- I'm going to continue with assigning keys within DCSW, while I study-up on TARGET.

I would be interested in this, far as I know mine is pretty close but wouldn't mind having it available?
