Enter RAID 0+1, to where the RAID-0 Drives are Mirrored to a 3rd Drive.

Raid Array Fails, Replace Drive, Restore from Mirrored Drive.

Now you need more drives. Get an SSD. :)

Besides, I said:

The speed from a RAID array is nice but unless you are using a config that can survive a drive failure, it isn't worth it.

At home I use a hybrid RAID 1 (HDDs) on a Network Data Server, but that's it.

Last time I ran raid, I bought like 5 or 6 drives bulk, so I had extra's had one failed, and it was Raid-0+1, If it failed, shut down, replaced drive, booted from the Mirror, click the icon to restore raid array, waited for it to copy files, boom.

now, the ONLY thing I'll use RAID 0 for is Recording and Storing RAW Video footage in 1080p and now 4K.

As I Need the Read/Write Speeds and I do a lot of footage editing and deleting, So I need a Drive that will withstand the crazy amount of read/writes.

I know, I meant which software was not able to uninstall/install/repair.

most of the time you just wipe it's registry entry for Install Path and it will allow you to re-install.

It was Grand Theft Auto 4 and REX. I didnt have other files written to those disks, as everything else was written to my SSD.

Heres a fun fact: My new Samsung EVO 840(ish) is a little faster than my two WD Caviar Black RAID0 array. My array writes at 62mb/s while my SSD writes at 81 mb/s. OTOH, my OCZ Agility 3 writes at 31mb/s. My math may be off, but a RAID0 array with 3 WD blacks will smoke any SSD out on the market. Cheaper too, as these are the 1tb SATA3 models. I might do a RAID0+1 if my bios will allow me to use an external drive as the +1 part.

And everybody wonders why OCZ got consumed...

It was my first foray into an SSD, it went into a laptop, it was 150 bucks for the 240gb version, and it was fast enough. Faster than those 5400rpm laptop drives.

MY WD Black Drives write over 115 Mb/sec In SATA-III Mode (not RAID) according to my BlackMagic Speed Test Application.

I have an old OCZ Vertex 2 or 3 and some Crucial M4's that are used as large flash drives. My running drives are Samsung EVOs. WD Caviar blacks for data storage only.

Test it with piriform defraggler. Mac cant do anything right. Scratch that - Im testing mine now with HD Tune pro, for the lolz. (I hate that word)

my raid array - averaged 210mb/s

ocz - averaged 275mb/s

evo - maintained 455mb/s

5200 rpm 2tb seagate - averaged 130mb/s

Guess defraggler only tests burst write speed and not much else...

Sounds about right..

I simply use the BlackMagic Speed test because it runs and lets me know which formats, res, color depth and fps I can record with.

I tests with Chunks of 2,4,5 GB I think.

I'm pretty sure my WD Black drives would out perform the 2TB 5200 RPM,

My 640GB 64MB Cache Drive is still gold, lower Density, less platters and more RPM :) out performs 1.0 TB, 1.5 TB and 2TB Drives I have.

I forget which one this one was, I got this drive from Newegg for an eggspert review, and for it being just a 5200rpm drive it sure is pretty fast.

Not a knock on you at all. They just couldn't compete.

I didnt take it as one, if everyone got their panties in a wad over a hard drive this place would be very different!

Why the hell do you guys care about continuous rates? Do you film weddings? :)

Who the hell wants to get married?? The best part of marriage is divorce. Just throwing that out there...
