docfu Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Hello, At least a decent number of games contain some form of an FPS test or benchmark map. I'd like to see one (or two) maps or ideally even a replay that would show the same high intensity scenes over and over so people having problems and/or benchmarking between versions can compare results. Does something like this already exist? If not, is anyone interested in making a decent replay with a reasonably high amount of action for system testing? Doesn't need to be anything official, in my opinion, but it would be nice to have everyone on the same page for testing purposes... Especially if the map included all models just as a system stress test...
cichlidfan Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Replays are not reliable enough for any sort of testing. Winfield_Gold Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I've really only seen this for Arma series, keep in mind though I'm old school, benchmark settings from inside the game was unheard of back in Commander Keen days so I don't really look at benchmark tests from inside games. I do this externally with Nvidia software and 3rd party software
SkateZilla Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 We had a Thread in the Hardware Section I Think, Where the User supplied a Track and everyone posted their FPS Numbers. SkateZilla Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) A Looping "Benchmark Mode" would be a waste of time. Considering DCS will soon move to a new GFX Engine. (and we do not know all the features of this new engine) Just Setup a Mission, where you fly through High Populated Airfield, then out over the mountains, then over the sea, with ships, then back to the airbase, high and low altitudes. Save track, and replay it while running FRAPs Benchmarking. camsr Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The only thing I discovered with my own FPS test "mission" was that Structures lag the game considerably. Turning off structures completely got me to 30fps in most situations.
