Dun_Aenghus Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Lately I've been having problems with the autopilot channels disengaging by themselves, especially during takeoff, making the aircraft uncontrollable. Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening or if I'm doing something wrong? I haven't been flying particularly aggressively. Thanks for the help! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Flagrum Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Not at the moment unfortunately! Seems to happen pretty randomly! I had this effect a couple of times as well. Although I have no real proof for it, I think, it is due to pilot error. When I do not perform a clean and neat take off (i.e. not well trimmed & maybe pilot distracted & pilot not too familar with the helo ... which all usually always applies to me ...), the AP shuts off and things go worse from there pretty fast. I believe, the AP shuts off when maneuvering too hard and/or the AP's limits are exceeded.
Rogue Trooper Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 This also happens to me, as Flagrum says hard maneuvering tends to disengage the APs. Also if you pull up the collective to fast and to maximum this can lead to the APs switching off. I am not sure if the rotor RPM is dropping off causing a loss of power generation or the APs limits have been reached. My takeoff seemed clean enough but maybe I was a little too heavy handed on the collective. I'll try a gentler approach and report back it it keeps misbehaving. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Wichid Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Yep, happened to me when the generators cut off due to low RPM on the rotor. Lyndiman AMD Ryzen 3600 / RTX 2070 Super / 32G Ram / Win10 / TrackIR 5 Pro / Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals
