How can I extract the mission file from trk?

I reinstalled OS and lost my mission file. What I have now is only trk file recorded for that mission. Is it able to extract the miz file from trk with all zones, WPs kept?

I haven't done this in ages but I think all you have to do is rename the .TRK file to a .MIZ. Then open it up in a ZIP utility tool (like 7Zip etc..) and remove the track & track_data folders.

 

Don't know if this still works though (make backups before trying).

You can also open a .TRK in the ME and save it as .MIZ again. That should remove the track data as well.

No, it will not.

 

Just rename .trk to .zip, remove the track & track_data folders etc, keep 3 files only(for simple missions): mission / option / warehouses

if you guys cant load a track in the mission editor, make sure you go to the bottom right and change to show file extensions from .miz to .trk

 

the editing to a zip and removing files etc predates DCS world and i believe was a lock on 2 thing (although can't verify if thats really the case)

It still works, at least in v1.2.7. I just tested with an old track, I don't have any 1.2.8 atm, and deleting everything but options, mission, warehouses. Once renamed, it fired up as a mission just fine.

Works in all versions! As well as the "open .trk in ME" , mind to change the extension on load screen...
