I agree with your every words but this:

...change position before the enemy detect your position...

Enemy units in DCS have magical power to detect you wherever you are, even behind the threes. They're not like a human being...

Yes that is a problem, but they are a bit stupid too I must say, they can be decimated one by one and no one tries changing his position and hide somewhere.

If you play MP where ground forces might be controlled by human players is definitely a whole new level.

If I recall correctly, I played a mission (159th server??) where the enemy had a ground commander and was moving the vehicles and driving them personally. Now that was very satisfying to do, as he would duck in and around buildings and such, and I had to time when to fire so it would get there when he was exposed.

I would have thought in a classical front line war ingressing at a very low level from out of enemy range to just within max missile range at a hover would be the most effective with you and your wingman nibbling away at the edges of the enemy formations.

Flying slowly (as helos do) around doing aeros whilst trying to line up your shots is going to attract the attention of the opposing luftforce in no time and take much longer to distribute one's ammunition around the battlefield :)

who said anything about aerobatics? As soon as you start shooting missiles, you're going to draw attention from the enemy: MWS-equipped aircraft will immediately know something is up, and Vikhrs are hardly smokeless... maintaining forward speed == maintaining maneuverability == retaining escape options.

It really depends on the mission what tactics are needed.

Flying through a valley where you know there is an enemy track somewhere around the next bend is is wise to close in SLOWLY with the edge of the mountain giving you cover from all enemies but the first target you can see, AIM & FIRE, move in closer to the crossing, AIM & FIRE at the 2nd target you can glimpse at etc... BUT... if you are in an open plane and F-15's or other Helos are around you better keep on movie like Isegrim says, don't stay in 1 spot too long, never go above 50m ( better 30m ) and you most likely will be forced to circle around a city to have line of sight to all targets. Not doing this will not only make it more likely to be shot by other AC but more important, you will NOT BE ABLE to spot all targets hiding behind buildings that you could not see from your initial point of hover. Overseeing 1 AAA can be your death, keep on moving, circle around a city and get some SA, spot them all, make a plan and then take them all out, fly home and have a glass of good red wine :)

Isegrim is especially right with spotting incoming SAMs. Those IR SAMs come with a warning, the RADAR ones come without and you have to solely rely on good old eye-spotting them. It is not too late to go for cover if you see a Patriot launching at you if you have momentum, a plan and skills. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but at least you have a chance. When you hover too long when engaging SAMs you usually have a lower rate or surviving as Isegrim said.

I would not argue with Isegrim about the Ka, he's the man in my eyes. I have flown a few times on their server with him and his buddies and it's a different level of Ka flying there. Listen and learn from him. It may NOT represent the RL Ka employment but for sure does for DCS

Hello, Iv'e been having a problem.

Whenever i use Vikhr missiles with turn to target the helicopter doesn't align with the target for the second shot. Since the Vikhr aiming reticule is different for the left side and the right side it seems like there is a problem.

Is there a solution to this or is it a bug?

Thanks.

Been here years ago :D It's not a bug.. Ok... image your in a nice stable hover, your heading/yaw AP has been trimmed to hold 10% authourity for example to maintain that hover. Now turning to target can hold different results when turning left of right as the heading AP only has so much authority to deal with.. 20% from memory..

And although a co-axial helo there are still different power requirements to yaw left and right .. :)

Think if Auto Turn as less of an "auto-aim" system, and more of a means to get the nose pointed generally in the right direction. This is for acquiring the target visually (i.e. getting it in the HUD), getting close to weapons release parameters, and (IMHO most importantly) keeping the target well within the SHKVAL slew boundaries so you don't lose the target if it's near the FOV edges.
