Here ist the next Gen Control Unit for Oculus Rift and DCS.

Please Optimize DCS for this

IMHO that concept is usesless for a flightsimulator.

Even if the System was able to track what you do with your fingers, how should you decide if you have the correct switch on your fingertips?

There is a reason, why differnt switches, knobs etc. have different shapes and different surfaces. You can feel it if you are about actuating the correct thing by feel in your hand.

With the system described you have no feedback and would never know what knob your turning, what switch you´re ticking.

Very nice for playing paper-scissors-rock though :baby: :music_whistling:

You are missing the point, other than a holodeck the ultimate flight sim immersion is VR,the next thing you need for flight sim immersion is the ability to flick switches etc. The last is haptic feedback, the ability to feel the switches. With control VR you could use gestures to turn knobs or flick switches.think of a mouse cursor controlled by your fingertip, snap your finger to click a switch, you get the picture.

Yes, for DCS is Contol VR realy perfekt. You only need Oculus Rift, Control VR, Hotas and Rudder Pedals and You will sitting in a Full Equipt Fighter Cockpit. No more Touchscreen or Mouse clicking. A dream come true. Dogfights like a real Fighter Pilot, only without GForce. But Fernando works on DCS SCN5 Motionsimsupport

Suppose I don´t want to use mouse pointer to operate actuators (because that spoils my immersion).

The thing is: I don´t get how am I supposed to know which knob am I turning with which gesture.

Mayby you think that every of the 1001 knobs and switches of e.g. a A10C has its own gesture?!

If so, might be fun to memorize ... :book:

I love my knobs and switches from homebuilt HID´s and my Warthog!

There I just do the real thing rather than fiddeling around in the air to tell my simulator 'APU ON'.

I am seconding the lack of tactile feeling which burns the brain down. For sure this VR is nice somehow, and will have good appliances, but not here.

I have a kind of saying: when mouse and keyboard will disappear I will quit using PC. This idea can be extrapolated to these devices. When I will have nothing to press, to hold, to switch ... I will just go to bed.

I am enjoying my " physical pit" too much to replace it with such virtual ... it's like social life is moving to facebook... virtualy... no thanks!

Sitting in front of a LCD Panel and sitting in a Wood Cockpit is the past, VR Simulation with Control VR is the Future Go 4 Real .

It wouldn't work with all the buttons. Maybe in 10 years yeah sure, but not yet :)

I think it could work well with castAR, which can project the controls onto blank surfaces, allowing you to use any plane you want and allowing you to see the switches move when you flick them, whilst leaving the exterior view on a HD/UHD monitor

You have to decide yourself : VR != Real . It's a joke so don't mind on me.

However I dislike that VR future!

Simulation is about feeling. I joined DCS because I felt the fly... VR is far and I really don't want it to interfere and change what is now.
