I get quite a good performance in this Sim, but I am just wondering if disabling page file would do anything? List of my specs below and if it does help how would I do it?

Cpu i7 930 4.0 Ghz overclocked

Ram 12 GB

Geforce 680 4GB ram

12GB is a bit low to disable pagefile in my opinion , but you can test it and see for yourself.

In any case , the question is - do you feel any hiccups from hdd activity during play?

and even without pagefile , dcs accesses assets from the hdd (try to move views with F11 between airfields and you`ll see)

i think only no-pagefile+ssd gets you 99% smooth play

I have 24GB RAM in my system, and I have run with and without a physical paging file. I finally gave up and let it put a page file on my secondary drive at 800 MB, the minimum size needed to save crash data if windows goes all BSOD.

Now, if you want to know whether 12GB is enough to turn off page file, it depends on your usage. Pull open the task manage and monitor your RAM usage, do you ever fill up that 12GB? If you don't come close to maxing out (I go by the 80% rule) then no, you don't need to have a paging file on your hard drive.

In my personal opinion, the concept of a paging file is outdated, considering the cheap cost of RAM these days. If your system has more than 8GB of RAM, a traditional hard disk drive will not even be capable of swapping out page files fast enough to keep up with your applications. A typical read speed for a platter-based drive is 150~200 MB/s. The fastest platter drive i could find (Seagate Cheetah) has a maximum sustained speed of 320 MS/s. At that speed, it would still take half a minute to swap out an 8GB page file. 45 seconds to do your 12GB, a minute and a half to do my 24GB.

Now, a solid state drive can manage transfer rates sufficient to swap out massive page files in short order, but if your data is on a solid-state drive, there's no point, since it will read from its native location almost as fast as from the page file. And on top of that, setting your page file on an SSD will shorten its lifespan by a notable amount, since the limiting factor on SSD lifespan is how much data has been written to the drive, total.

I have 16GB in both of my laptops and Page File is OFF but i know what I am doing ;)

When running multiple VMware OS's off that system I would use a page file, just to be sure I don't get stuck half way down the road.

* I run VMware Fusion off the OS-X system.

I don't recommend this to people who tend to forget what they did to their system and may not remember that this change could be the reason for crashes, halts, etc.. as seen recently in another thread.

The reason why I turned it off is simple. I have to run OS-X and Win7 off that 256GB built-in SSD and I only granted 80GB to Win7. Giving 16GB away from those 80 is a no-go, so I decided to go without and don't have issues. But I ONLY use this Win7 for gaming, no VMware, no ISO building, no big things apart from DCS, BF3 and a few others for my son.

ahhh forgot to respond to the OP:

I would check and see, but for my taste 16GB or more is needed to safely turn it off for DCS, especially if you play offline a lot and need to load and calc the mission yourself. If you play online only it may work.

Try it out, its on the edge of YES and NO
