Hey all,

I currently have a copy of the original Black Shark game not really played for a while, so see now that there is a Black Shark 2. Is this more or less a whole new game or just an upgraded version of the original?

If I wanted to have Black Shark 2, would I have to pay for it even though I already have the first one?

Thanks

It is not a completely new game, just a few upgrades here and there, the main one being that you can use it in DCS World. You can buy an upgrade key for cheaper than buying BS2 straight up, however the upgrade keys are out of stock right now, not sure when more are coming.

I would just grab a copy of BS2 in one of the sales; some users have had issues with the BS1 + Upgrade combo.

I have BS 1 and BS2 update and dont can use it for my Steam installation... This sucks..

I understand the issue. But picking up BS2 in a sale is an idea, then it doesn't really cost a lot more then the upgrade itself.

Is there a functionality missing when you add for example DCS World or even the open beta from ED's website to your library in steam?

The steamoverlay works fine this way(and friends can see that you play DCS). but I'm not sure what other benefits/features you are looking for.

(To add, the key codes from the bought steam 'dlc' (in steamstore) will always work in the DCS World version from ED's website. Since a month or so and from then on the module keys from ED's webstore don't activate in steam anymore.)

Steam got a better Update Feature. DCS is up2date and you can stop the Download and start it next time you want. My friends see me playing and can join my Game.

I want swapping my two BS Keys for one BS2 Steam Key. Why ED dont do that?

The digital right management license keys costs is a big reason for example.

If it wouldn't cost much (cost time to implement and it's individual customer support) ED would have done this I presume.

Tough question :) As we just had the summersale. Both on steam and the ED's store.

You might want to check if you receive the newsletter from ED. That could help with announcements.

Possible saleperiods seem to be autumn sales / Xmas sales (either steam or here).
